Try throwing your cell phone out of the hole...they will track it. Please.. I hope she doesn't drink her urine. At least she didn't have to cut off her arm like in 127 hours.

You Get What You Pay For
wandernn1-81-6832741 December 2022
Ahh great another IFC movie, recommended to me again by Amazon. A woman gets trapped in a hole, similar to what happened in Apocalypto to the main characters wife. She can't get out of the hole. So she flashbacks on memories of her life and what got her to this point in the first place. Similar to 127 hours. Nothing new here. No great performances. Seems like just a low budget survival movie with like 2 actors in the whole movie.

IFC.

4/10.

And IMDB has now made it so a review has to have 600 characters before it can be entered. I really don't expect that to last very long because people are sure to complain about it. But until that happens I guess we have to expect reviews to be long winded and sometimes about absolutely nothing to do with the show in question.

Warning: Spoilers
Lara Winslet (Rachel Daigh) may be an expert geologist in volcanology, but when an accident at work leads to her falling inside a hole where no one can neither see nor hear her, she'll need more than her intelligence to survive.

This movie proves to me why I never leave our movie basement because nature is frightening. Then again, you would think that a geologist would know better. Maybe she was obsessing on the affair she's having with Adam (Neb Chupin) or how her father Nick (James Cosmo, Braveheart, Highlander, Game of Thrones) has been the one really raising her daughter. But really, she needs to get out of that hole and away from that snake.

If you enjoy human against nature movies, this is for you. Daigh is pretty much the only actor on screen for long stretches and handles herself quite well.

Director John Real (The Beginning: Feel the Dead, Obsessio), who co-wrote this with his sister and usual writing partner Adriana Marzagalli, has set up a challenge for himself shooting nearly all in one location with one actor, something many more experienced creatives would shy away from.

Bad Logic
wongkinglee6 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The movie went from a 7 down to a 3 then to a 1 towards the end. First of all, how can the closest friend and colleague of her Adam cannot retrace the path to her work site (as she even able to go back to retrieve her bag). 2nd, as soon as the rain started to fall, it is just illogical that there's no sign of desperate attempt to quench her thirst or trying to fill up the empty bottle from cascading water. And third and most absurd of all, she were able to survive long enough under the water as the hole filled up to the brim. In fact is more logical if she is able to float and cling on the wall of the hole as the water rises. The movie just try to be beautiful and majestic but failed in the logic - that spoilt it all.

Breath a sigh of relief when it is over
omendata12 May 2022
I do not usually pay attention to the 1 and 2 star reviews on IMDB as they are usually from people who rate a movie either a 1 or a 10 if they like or dislike but in this case they are spot on.

You can usually tell how bad a movie is going to be from the first 5-15 mins and within that time we have shaky camerawork that looks like it has been filmed on a Go-pro or I-phone; perhaps it was and the editing is atrocious as if it was being made by a film student, then again perhaps it was?

Then we have the directors obsession with long quadcopter shots of lava rocks for no apparent reason other than to play with his new DJI.

Add to this an utterly banal and unbelievable story with some shockingly bad scenes such as the girl swimming up through the cave when it is obvious it is filmed in front of a fish tank, it just looks so bad, cheap and nasty. Nothing happens in the movie and the dialogue is so atrocious I started to want to fast forward, which is something I rarely ever do.

The only reason I am giving this a 2 is for the music which was ok and James Cosmo who was obviously dropped into this snore-fest for movie poster cred but if you want to watch something more interesting I would suggest popping down to B&Q and spending your Netflix on a tin of Dulux and doing some DIY and watch it dry!

Simply awful!
coldmast28 September 2022
Don't even waste your time with this so called movie. It is totally boring and you spend most of your time watching the main character cry in a hole. The hole looks fake and you spend most of your time watching her play out the and scenarios over and over like a snake coming to get her combined with some really tedious flashback scenes that are mostly around her child and some guy that has the hots for her. You can't feel sorry for a character like this who decides to hike a treacherous environment by herself. I will never get my time back from watching this POS movie but at least I know I'll never have to see it again. Considered yourself warned!

A solid movie with a great cast
adrianegaien8 July 2022
It is a solid movie and I think that it exist to bring streingh to the people that need help. When I watched this movie I understood that in the life the only streingh to go on come inside yourself, no from lover or friends or sons. Really nice movie.

Stopped watching at the first 25 minutes!
jumanneh-0796929 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I was excited at first to watch this movie since I'll be a geoscience major

But this absolutely ridiculous, the storyline was lack luster and the effort put into the character development was atrocious.

I sat for 25 minutes waiting for something worthwhile to happen.... only to be graced by a series of random narrative and some amount of flashback which did not capture my attention

How do I know? Because I tried to endure this abomination twice and not once did make it past the 25 min mark.

I even tried giving the creators a benefit of the doubt to at at least read some reviews in the meanwhile and honestly some are about the emotional effect of this film which I guess may be valuable

But if you're watching for some geothermal action... This movie is not it Better to go watch a low budget sci-fi movie on the world ending from a "terrestrial apocalypse"

I was excited for "Breath" after the trailer. I was pretty excited to see where this movie was going. After watching the movie in full I was confused. I believe this movie is pretty great! Honestly it's beautiful and really emotional..

I saw it on amazon at night, and I totally immersed myself in the story. The title is beautiful, the earth breathes, the volcano, the daughter's illness, the meaning of the title is beautiful. James Cosmo is a great actor...

You've been warned
jenniferk-2842621 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The idea and the premise of the movie is not bad, if the main character hadn't been a geologist/volcanologist. I couldn't stop asking why, someone of her profession and someone who should have been more intelligent, could have gotten into this situation in the first place.

How could she have left that pack in the first place? How did she not see it? If she had to go back for it, why would she continue wandering around by herself without ANY supplies/equipment? Because it looked like instead of heading back to her vehicle, she decided to take a hike or walk around some more and at the end of the day not long before the sun will be setting? Again, why would someone of her profession be caught in this predicament to begin with? And this is just within the first few minutes of the film.

Ok, so, if you manage to get past the first 5-10 minutes of the film, it doesn't get any better. The dialogue is terrible. The little girl somehow has a heavy Italian accent even though the mom doesn't and there's no explanation for where the dad is. There's a lot of crying. There's a snake in the pit with her but it's so fake you can tell someone is pulling it with a string as it slithers by. And, why, for God's sake are there snake noises whenever it's around? Snakes don't make any sound unless it's a rattle snake. The sound effects were terrible, the special effects were laughable, the script was bad, it was predictable, no suspense.

She really couldn't have found a way out? Or as someone else pointed out, she couldn't have turned on her GPS or tried to send a message and then tossed the phone out of the hole where it would get reception?

For someone who's supposed to be so smart, she sure was dumb and helpless.

The scene at the end was terrible. She was supposed to be under water, but her hair was still sitting on her shoulders instead of floating, the swimming at the end, just horrible. The film makers could have tried a little harder to make it more realistic. It's like they gave up at the very end.

And then, she finally emerges and is standing at the top looking away into the distance, and it's obvious her father sees her but instead of calling for help, or rushing towards her to see if she's ok, hug her, help her down, he just stands there watch her and smiles. WTH?

I don't know how anyone can say this was a good movie and that it was emotionally moving. I guess if you can get past all the silliness, bad script, bad special effects and the question of how someone of her profession could get into this situation in the first place, maybe it could be emotional. But I even saw from the very beginning what was coming with the little girl. It wasn't a mystery. It was so obvious.

Anyway, I couldn't stop watching. It was like a train wreck you can't look away from. I was already midway through it, I figured I had to see how it ended at this point. But it was just...bad. So. So. Bad.

Slowest and Unnecessary Movie
ashkyosuke24 September 2022
The movie should not have lasted 30 minutes. Just too many unnecessary scenes and illogical thinking. Too frustrating to watch, feels like torture for the brain. The woman looks 48 but her brain in the movie felt like one of a 6 years old.

This movie shouldn't have ever made. Very bad acting and impressions. It blows my mind if anyone can sit down and watch this move at one sitting. This is a torture and should be shown to people in jail on repeat and forced to watch. I will never be able to forgive myself for watching this. I just wanted to know how this person can get out alive with 10 IQ..

Time Don't Wait
nogodnomasters19 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Laura Winslet (Rachel Daigh) is a geologist who studies volcanoes and thinks in truism adages about life so the audience can tell what she is thinking as she falls into a pit and tries to get out between flashbacks.

This is another one person story and so far they have all been boring. This one included. Climb up. Fall. Hurt leg. Repeat.

Guide: No swearing, sex, or nudity.

Worst movie of the year
codesplat15 December 2022
Wife hated it and was so upset I picked this movie and we watched it until the end, unfortunately!

Probably made on a $5,000 budget.

Anyone that gives this movie a rating over 1 likely worked on the film. Do not believe any reviews over 1, seriously.

There is so much stupidly, horrible acting, horrible script, by the end your praying for the torture to end.

At one point she says if she dies the (little 3 foot) snake will be able to eat for days. We're supposed to believe a 3 foot snake will eat a person? Yes, it's that dumb!

Not to worry though because she is strong and independent single mother that don't need no guy.

All the guy work crew can leave, she'll stay at the worksite by herself because she has to take a few more samples down in the volcano. I know it's a movie but this play is completely moronic!

A non-realistic story and production!
ElvisKing12 May 2022
Yes, the first thing to do is to enable the gps in her phone and the throw her cell phone out of the hole. It can be tracked easily!

Second, when they found her truck, no one looked around near that area?? Stupid!! She can't be that far away from her truck and can easily do a search while calling her name with loudspeakers.

I can't believe I watched it till the end!!!

Loose Grip on Common Sense
raza-gov7 May 2022
First of all no any real geologist will relate their self with her because of her approach she is in field with zero safety gears.

If you are adding main twist in a story that she lost her bag then why you are placing or hanging just 3 to 5 feet from her height. But she is jumping even she is aware that her legs is not able to receive stress.... Why she is not using Shirt, Belt, or their clothing's?

Same scene were in Movie Apocalypto (2006).

Sorry movie is starting with loose grip.

A masterpiece, I cried.
logansmith-390228 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The film is very sad, it is about a woman who lost her daughter and became depressed. Throughout the film you hope that she will hug her daughter again, only at the end you understand that the little girl is gone. A masterpiece, I cried. Seems a commercial movie, but it is something to special.

Unsaveable
nicorynn25 September 2022
Plot was promising until the Director and actors came together to make a movie. Waste of time for everyone. They couldn't even get the title right. Would've been more appropriate if it was called Breathe, with an actual 'E'! If this is the kind of movie you've ever watched on Amazon , you probably would unsubscribe. Ridiculous how there was too much crying, laughable male supporting casts, child with a foreign accent when the parent had none. Also needing to translate inti English when both were native Italian speakers. But the killer scene was trying to fool you that the lead had acquaman's powers. Wow Amazon can you delete this movie ASAP.

a strong story with an exciting ending
larstrial8 July 2022
It is a film that has a strong meaning. Parents can understand what it means to worry about a child. In this film a father is looking for his daughter, his daughter wants to go back to his child, a continuous search for safety for his children. Nice, it has a really nice message. It is a very profound film in such an empty period. James Cosmo in amazing and Rachel daigh is a great actress...

film to see certainly
adalorenzo9 July 2022
It's a nice movie, it's really good the way it was shot. Good direction, good photography and a very dramatic story that takes you. The situation is similar to the movie "127" hours, but the way it is told is totally different, even the meaning.

Terrible Movie
ddhinton-6411912 July 2022
First off, I don't understand how anyone rated this over a 1. I can't find anything good about this movie.

95% of the movie is just watching a terrible female try to act and cry in a pit where nothing happens in the movie. Why was this move so long it could have been done in 45mins (although actors were still pretty bad).

Add that to the fact anyone with half a brain would not have done what she was doing in the pit and could have just climbed out without any experience climbing. I am an experienced outdoor climbing who has climbed up a few 1000-1500ft walls, 100+ 500ft walls, probably 1000 300ft walls. The wall she was trying to climb out of could have been so easy to climb out of even if you only had 1 leg.

Noone with experience in those types of area would be dumb enough to throw a bottle with water still in it that falls out when she throws it.

Another female placed in difficult situation as an idiot.
lorraine_snipas1 December 2022
As soon as she headed back to the hole(5 min.in) I knew it would be downhill for her. Is this female geologist really stupid enough to go down in a hole alone??just for another look?? No rope?? They should have put her in black leather heels with a black bag full of make-up. Why are women shown to be stupid? And then triumph over adversity? Shame on this writer for making her an airhead for heading back into a hole all alone IN A VOLCANO!!!! I don't even care if she gets out. Women are portrayed this way in today's world. How about giving women a brain to think about consequences before acting.

The will to survive
okpilak17 December 2022
Lara is a geologist, and is studying a volcano. On finishing a days work, she comes down, is driving home and realizes she forgot her backpack. She returns, gets it and on the way down, the ground gives way, and she finds herself in a deep hole, and a badly injured leg. No one knows where she is, but she is skilled, and considering how little she had with her, it couldn't have been that far. She agonizes over her predicament, reflects on past decisions in her life, but really makes no stupid decisions in trying to get out. Some may fault her on trying to climb out, but unless one is a free climber, one never thinks a foot or hand hold is enough to be safe. Days go by. Rescuers are searching, but they say it is a huge area. In the hole, she is visited by a snake, one of the worst fakes ever. It is neither a great movie nor a stinker.
