Nicely scripted movie

A very good movie. In my opinion one of the gems of modern bengali movie era. Well directed, written and acted by Parambrata.

An ode to caring for elders
rtoac111 August 2020
This is a Bengali film directed by Parambrata Chattopadhyay and starring Tanuja and child artist Shrijato Banerjee.

The film is a very touching rendition about old age, loneliness and the need for us youngsters to accept and understand our elders.

They have given us a lot and they have lived an entire lifetime. Age has taken a toll on their minds and health and habits and practices along with their unique life experiences would have made them stubborn.

But you can't change that. It's not easy for them as us youngsters to change. Moreover, we will be considered like them someday, when we are old and judged by the generation after us.

Most importantly, believe it or not, you need them more than they need you. To impart values and life lessons to your children. To give care and love to your children. The bonding between grandparents and grandchildren can only be beaten by that of a mother and her new born baby.

Their presence and blessings are what will give you fulfilling lives. You love and caring of them is what will give strengthen your Karma and take you to higher planes.

This is the message conveyed in the film. I've found Parambrata's film selections as an actor always excellent. And now I'm also appreciative of his themes chosen as a director.

The child actor's performance is excellent. Due credit to the director to be able to extract such a performance from a young child.

Way to go Parambrata! I rated this 9/10 in IMDB.

Slow paced but no melodrama

The pacing may vex you but still a quaint one which is not quite uncommon with the Bengali movies... may have an undue sequence but no melodrama.. a great comeback for Tanuja..Estranged rancorous relationship.. a good watch

A complete family package...

A wonderful family drama written & directed by Parambrata Chattopadhyay. I have nothing to say about acting of Tanuja, Jisshu Sengupta, Parambrata Chattopadhyay & Soumitra Chattopadhyay. The boy (I don't know his name) perfectly has done justice to his role. Arunima Ghosh is also very good in her role. The story is so much beautiful that we all have to know about. Afterall it is a worth-watch movie.

A lovely heart-warming movie

A lovely heart-warming film with top class performances and a balanced treatment of a emotional storyline that could easily have gone melodramatic.

Sometimes we take our walks so far away that we forget the way back
ridi-arahan23 March 2021
What worked: It's rare to see a movie that keeps you so engaged in the narrative although you have watched the movie with the same or similar topic multiple times in movies. It's one of those movies that keeps you glued for its phenomenal screenplay and narrative to start. It's a nicely done writing with some fine layers. One of the positive aspects of the movie which makers usually miss is to decipher the characters' psyche, and it's done beautifully here. The introspection scenes added the needed push in the movie and that helped enrich the depth in character's persona and their journey. All the casts were great, Tanuja stole the show. All the characters are very well written, making it a very heartwarming movie viewing experience. It's humorous but mostly warm and sentimental. Overall, a very powerful movie that deserves a watch at least once

What did not work: I would have been happier if the entire family had the cathartic experience where they all have their moments of self realization, not just the leads. Of course it's their story afterall and what better way than giving the space for their emotional bonding. Final verdict: highly recommended

Week storytelling
tazulmasud27 December 2021
Dialogue, acting, are so good. But storytelling is so week & extremely slow. Story is good, okay. But not maintain standard quality. It can finished within 90 minutes.

Beautiful film

Warning: Spoilers
Sometimes challenging to watch a film from another culture but the human dilemma of an aging parent who feels their connection with their grown up child is lost is one that transcends language. A wonderful story of finding that which was lost. The mother and child "reunion" at the end was beautifully depicted and brought tears -the only thing missing was a scene with the subsequent healing between mother and daughter in law which would have been nice to also confirm at the end. That was left to the viewer to imagine, but after watching the journey of all of these characters it would've been nice to see that resolution.
