indie cute
SnoopyStyle6 November 2020
College freshman Izzy Alden is secretly a virgin and desperate to find a crush, any crush, at an Crush Party. Her friend Anuka Deshpande invents a crush. Her other friend Fiona Newman is struggling with her bowling alley job and other issues.

This is cute. It's indie cute. It's nothing particularly new although most looking to their movie virginity are usually boys. So, that's a little different and it's using a lot of internet motif to spice it up. The overwhelming style is its indie nature. The leads are not Hollywood IT girls. The story is not that original. It's also lacking in clarity in filmmaking. I still don't understand how the crush selection works. It could have done more to highlight the earrings and the boots. Quite frankly, the boots need some sparkling up to something special. All in all, it's a cute little indie but everybody involved are still works in progress.

Can't have dry humor
madisonecarroll22 January 2022
Let's be honest, it's not the best acting but it's FUNNY. You got to have the right humor to like this movie because it's silly and awkward but that's what makes it funny. Give it a chance you'll have a good laugh.

Perhaps a good movie if watched by the target audience...
paul_haakonsen17 April 2021
Well, I suppose I wasn't really in the target audience for the 2019 movie "Crshd". But hey, I gave the movie a chance.

As it turned out then I just couldn't commit myself to the storyline, as the things that took place throughout the course of the story just had no to little appeal to me, and that made it very difficult to delve into the storyline, embrace it and take it in.

Little did it help that the characters gallery wasn't particularly my cup of tea either. Sure, if you are a young woman around their age, then I believe you will find some mutual ground here with the characters in the storyline. But this just didn't work for me.

Now, I am sure that writer and director Emily Cohn made an interesting enough movie for those it was aimed at. But the movie just fell short of providing me with entertainment, and thus it wasn't an enjoyable movie to sit through.

Ultimately, I ended up giving up on the storyline and just turned the movie off. This is not a movie that I will be returning to watch a second time.

This movie is definitely aimed at an adolescent female audience. No doubt about that.

My rating of "Crshd" lands on a mere three out of ten stars. The production value was adequate, but it can only do so much for a movie.

a cute flick from the dollarshop sale...
ops-525355 August 2020
When you talk about financial budget and those term, but its rich on youth culture, and the most charming cuties and cutes that charms you into reminiscens how much better and easier place the world was when i was a teenager. the social code book is like an enigma-code to me, and thats because im old and doesnt nearly have anything to do with my grumpiness, just say that i used to be a charmer once upon a time ( just ask my grumpy old wife), not sexually( i was a pretty grown up chlorinated virgin) but otherwise just as partychasing and alcohol hungry as these kids on the uniblock. also the use of emoji's are to me completely oblivious, even though i know what xx means, and my knowledge and lack of use of social media platforms are merely obsolete, even though ive got a facebook site thread over my head by my wife so that she can send me photoes of our granddaughter that plings every time i enter the internet.

well its no extravaganca story, this flick, but it reaches out to an old man, the 3 main female actors do a fine job where i will praise their nonverbal acting, which is well performed. the story is mostly like all cellphone in hischool/college hand, where the nerdy, needy, quinie and birdie's final goal isnt the finals, but to become crushed and loose ones virginity.

productionwise the editing are great, the spirits high and the musical score well chosen and typical of today.also the transmissive use of music style do show the spirits of very well. even though i think i saw a mike the overall product is good

do put your '' stumbling'' acting and ''cheesy''-story glasses on and enjoy, its a humble, charming and makes you giggle'ish kind of movie, made on a buck, they deserve attention, therefore a recommend from the, still, grumpy old man.

Entertaining and promising!

This brilliant debut from burgeoning young filmmaker Emily Cohn is an absolute pleasure to watch. The dynamic between the three lead female characters is both hilarious and tense, beautifully depicting the friendships of early college-aged women. Isabelle Barbier is hilarious as Izzy, and Sadie Scott + Deeksha Ketkar take on their roles with gusto. Emily employs innovative narrative devices to usher the story along, making Crshd a perfect time capsule for life for millennials in this very moment in time. Emily and the three leads are no doubt on the rise!

Funny, poignant,
spongebarbier28 April 2020
Watching this film was like being invited into a whole new world. It's a coming of age story set in a liberal arts college and yet it's originality offers the viewer to experience this age old story in a completely new way. While we see much of the world through the eyes of Izzy, she passes the narrative baton to her two closest friends, Anuka and Fiona. Their friendship is palpable and grounds the film, making the viewer feel longing for what's ahead and nostalgia for what will soon be lost. It's a gem, polished with humor and shining with poignancy.

Pleasant Surprise
Shempashland-16 April 2021
I need to admit that I often appreciate something more lofi than your typical film. If you have an open mind with such films, you'll often find the spark or charm that's laced within it.

Such is the case for Crshd!

I was very unsure where this movie would go.

Would it follow the played out troupes of previous "virginity" films? Would it be as played out as that genre?

To my surprise it was very refreshing.

The story follows three freshmen girls on their last day of college before Summer break. All three girls are significantly different. There's the shy one (whom the story mainly surrounds), there's the adventurous one (who almost immediately gave away the fact that they were the lesbian of the group), and the third, who was hardest to really place. She comes off as smart, unsatisfied, and more of the angel on shy Izzy's shoulder.

The pacing of this film was well executed. We see this day play out in full, leading to the next morning, where we see the resolution of the previous day's events.

The acting was great for a film of it's caliber. I would love to see what the three main actresses would do in a project with a higher budget.

The ending genuinely left me wanting to know where these characters would end up after a Summer apart.

Each of the three girls found themselves in situations that I would be excited to see the consequences and journeys of.
