The season is coming together
goldenj-0780520 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The investigation of Nora has come to a close with sherloque which has been a very well done build up. The motivation with cicada (future Grace) seems more compelling than Orlin's and seems more threatening. This is how the flash should be done and if this keeps going it might be my favorite season. RIP Cicada

Rekindle

I must say, the performance from Chris Klein over the past several episodes has been amazing. I was used to the old Klein's aloof-like jock-nerd, but he has some serious chops now! I hope his performance will show in other projects albeit TV or film. Just a talent that needs more attention.

Honestly, I'm not a big comic book junkie, but since I discovered this series several years ago; I am a fan now! Well don to all on the screen!!

Eobard Thawne uses Nora(XS) to achieve his plan
saibhargav-0557923 March 2019
I think he was trying to achieve his plan by making everyone his puppets with the help of Nora and trying to speed up his time which we can see everytime he is shown. As he reached his time he said to tell everything to Flash. But anyway there are lot more great and interesting things ahead apart from Dwyer story.

This season is building up steam REAL fast
paulchristechgod24 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The cicada storyline is very nice and interesting now that Grace is Cicada.Nora should have told her parents from the very beginning that she is working with Eobard Thawne. This would have made things a lot easier. Now that they know, things are about to blow up in these remaining episodes. They better be a full on redemption to compensate for the boring season 3 finale upto season 4 finale.

Simply awesome!
sama-3376425 March 2019
One of the best episodes (mostly because of the ending scene) of The Flash. I see how this show is getting better and better to introduce us to a new season which I hope is going to be the best.

A Great Improvement
alirezamatrian20 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
An amazing episode with an improved writing. the quality of everything was almost season one level and i'm really glad with the way that story went to. the only thing that i want now is a reverse flash playing by his original actor, matt letscher. i wonder how the new cicada storyline is gonna tying with XS/RF or Godspeed storyline. i almost forgot : R.I.P Cicada

I really enjoyed this episode. The writing is amazing and the new Cicada is better than the old one. She is psychopath!

READ UNTIL END...HUGE SPOILER
lukeharris-7429719 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
HOLY CRAP!! Is it just me, or do I hate seeing Barry emotional. If Nora knew anything about time travel and being a speedster, she would've never come to the present and change things. The longer she stays, the worse it gets...

I think at the end of the season Nora will disappear through time and she would've never existed. I hope that happens as The Flash has been lacking some emotional storytelling with the exception of Whats Past is Prologue, this season.

Vicky was a compelling character, I really liked seeing the time-sphere back. But the only time i can recall seeing that was when Reverse-Flash was sitting in it in season 1. Like Father, Like daughter????

Her secrets finally revealed
jdtech20 March 2019
In this episode we get to see more of Grace the cicada from the future which is far more interesting than Orlin Dwyer. In the ending Nora finally reveals her secret to Barry and the team

3 out of 5 stars.

An interesting take on the villain and the story background. The twist about Flash and Iris daughter secret plan. Has decent action. Boring story. But moving a lot faster now.

Parents
justinbaer20 March 2019
I think Nora deserves to be punished for lying to her parents she should've known how he would take it she has to learn to take responsibility for her actions Barry did the right thing he was being a father the lesson is don't lie to your parents or you will be punished.

3 minutes of excellence.
jacksutarno21 March 2019
Long story story short... you can just skip to the last scene. That last scene contains some of the greatest story telling in the past 2-3 seasons. A scene that should have occurred right before the mid season break in my opinion...but I am ok that it came now. The reason I gave it a 7 is because the last scene is the only interesting scene in the entire episode and I liked it so much that I gave this episode a 7.

The rest of this episode is essentially pointless. If u want u can actually just skip to the last scene and not miss anything major to do with the story.

So you need Grace's permission to stop her???
rorygunn20 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
So Grace aka Cicada is in a coma as her younger self and naturally Cecile asks why can't they give her the cure and you know what Barry answers??I need Grace's consent..ARE YOU KIDDING ME???You have a chance to stop her and you can't because you need her consent???That's as bad as last weeks episode when Barry suggested talking to Dwyer into not being a bad guy which worked but now Dyer is dead because he tried to do the same thing to Grace and the meta human Cicada was targeting had to uproot her family and change their entire lives all because Barry needed Grace's consent to stop her and was too gutless to do what was needed.

For how long you can keep a secret? Don't rob people from their decisions!
asb_deutsch21 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
For how long you can keep lying? "Therefore She Is" was a pretty good episode (2018) and Rob Greenlea nails this episode nicely. He infuses drama with action and doesn't add unnecessary soap-drama, just like we have seen in Season 1!

PROS: The visuals were impressive and much better than previous episodes. The flying dagger coming out of the window reminds me of The Dark Knight Rises. Cicada Jr. is more better than the original (boring) Cicada. She even mentions that the future is "plagued - unchecked and unabated", which seems realistic. Barry taking the costume out of his ring was phenomenal and outraced the dagger before it consumed his powers. Nice use of the episode "What's Past Is Prologue". Finally, Team Flash knows that Nora is working with Thawne. And I happy that Nora is getting detention for being so childish!

CONS: Kamilla Hwang's character was a distraction and totally unnecessary. No need to add forced-romance in this episode. Grace killing Cicada was too lame. Atleast, the writers could have waited for a few more episodes and saved it for later!

VERDICT: The episode ending was the icing of the cake. I liked when Barry says, "So am I". My ratings (based on what I marked on IMDb): Season 1: 200/23 = 8.69; Season 2: 193/23= 8.23; Season 3: 188/23= 8.17; Season 4: 146/23= 6.65 and Season 5= 121/17 = 7.12 (This episode = 8/10)

A fitting end to Orlin and a lukewarm beginning to Grace.
jaythezoomster18 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
"Failure is an Orphan" is perhaps one of the strongest episodes of the show in a while so to see the follow up not quite match the heights of it was expected. I think this episode works the best when it focuses on Vickie Bolen's metahuman secret as she struggles to come to terms with that and tell her family but it also soars when dealing with Orlin's struggle with being human again and seeing Grace acting how she is.

I think Grace is fine but she feels utterly pointless. Why do we need her? She also barely feels unique in the grand scheme of things and takes everything that made Orlin great and throws it out.

The episode truly soars in its final scene, though, as Sherloque outs Nora's secret partnership with the Reverse Flash in a truly exceptional way.

Overall, Time Bomb is a great episode but only barely. A lot of the magic comes from seeing Orlin post-cure and how he reacts to what Grace is doing but his death ends up making a lot of it feel useless. Thankfully, Vickie Bolen's struggle works well enough and the end reveal scene is enough to push this episode ahead.

A solid episode with lots and lots of holes
garabedian12321 March 2019
It was a good episode. I did enjoy it. But it had some major problems. First of all. Caitlyn was at "where"? Some offsite place never mentioned before or ever again..She only showed up to explain another mistake in the episode..That XS is suddenly magically linked to Female Cicada? What? ...Strange... ..................... And Now we get to the big bad moment. The moment that was so bad it took me out of the show and threw me into a blender. The choreography of the birthday party fight scene is just so bad. Maybe you did not notice, or care, but It was like none of the actors were ever in the same room together. And the little girl gets hit by a ball of lightning from across the room...it defies the laws of physics...Watch it again and you will see. ...

..And a time sphere? Where did that come from. I don't remember one from season 1. I think it was made up for this one episode...And how did they get alerted that someone had stolen something if they did not steal until 30 years later? WHy don't they destroy the time ship? reminded me of Trunks.

Social justice

Honestly the continued social justice, the "let's impose our view of morality" and self righteousness is getting old.

Ranking/Reviewing every Flash episode: Time Bomb
lbramson16 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
No one cares!!! Cicada tracks down the meta who killed her parents. The streak has officially ended! I don't care about Grace Gibbons, so I don't care about her storyline. What doesn't make sense is that she isn't a villain in this episode, Team Flash is. I know that statements sounds stupid, because it is stupid, but it's also true. They attempted the Plastique formula, but it doesn't work because they try to convince the audience that this meta is a good person. But she's, you know, a murderer and we saw her Rob an ATM, so it makes Team Flash unlikeable. I hate that storyline, no one cares! The ending with Nora admitting what she's been doing almost makes up for it, but not quite. That ending was incredible, but can't save such a garbage episode.

5.2/10-Meh😐
