Decent episode, weak midseason premiere
armo-1016616 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
If this episode wasn't the midseason premiere, it would be much better. After the sharp focus the series brought towards Cicada, I was expecting more than him being dubbed MIA. Decent character growth and an interesting subplot involving Caitlin and Cisco definitely boosted the rating. However, the most interesting part of the episode - and in fact the entire season - is the relationship between Nora and Eobard. I hope to see more of them, as well as more Cicada in the future.

Maybe the flash should be more about THE FLASH!
Sherif_Ali117 January 2019
After a very good episode of the show this was a total disappointment i get that you should give us more of other characters but you don't just side-line the flash just to give us some soapy storyline about nora and iris this is a superhero show for god sake not all cw shows need to be like one tree hill , season 1 was AWESOME so was season 2 then it went downhill in the end it's not the worst episode but it's certainly a forgetful one

THE SHOW IS CALLED THE FLASH NOT THE GIRL POWER HOUR!!
rorygunn16 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
For the last three to four episodes the Flash has been put out of commission so that the females on the show could save the day.Now they're doing the same thing again just so that irritating Iris and nitwit Nora can bond and Nora be taught a lesson about not thinking like the group. And of course the villians are female but they're not REALLY bad like Raya who was dishonorably discharged by the bad military blah blah blah....the show is called The Flash but if you're going to have him out of the action for most of his own show so that the women can show how strong they are then why bother calling the show The Flash? He's already a weepy castrated male who can't do anything without crying to his friends to help him how much weaker must you make him?

Disappointing
michaelholman-8810416 January 2019
The mid season finale left me hyped for this episode and when I watched the promos that the cw released I got even more hyped. But after watchinf this episode it left me very disappointed. Besides the opening and ending scenes, the whole episode was filler (which is really weird to do after a mid season finale). And I don't like how the cw put out a promo for this episode with footage from e11 (which btw looks 100 times better than this crap). Anyways, I'm looking forward to seeing reverse flash again and I hope that the rest of the season is way better

Could have been Better.......

'The Flash & the Furious' is the Mid-Season Premiere of Flash Season 5. Here, we get to see a more Nora Based Episode. After Her chat with Reverse Flash, Nora's behaviour starts to shift to something undesirable. The Acting was really well done especially Tom Cavanaugh's portrayal of the Reverse Flash is truly chilling and perfect. But sometimes Jessica Parker Kennedy's Character; Nora felt like she was a moody Teen which became annoying at times. We didn't get to see much of Grant in this episode but he plays an important role. The Story as I said before, mainly focuses on Nora. There was some easter eggs that was fun to watch. The tone of the episode was all around the place. There were important Character Development moments for Nora. The Direction, Production, Writing and everything else was well done. But everything just felt boring. The Ending with Thawne and Sherloque was something that actually kept me wondering 'what would happen next?'

So Overall Its a Solid 7 and I hope it starts moving to its greatest potential.

I love Marvel and DC but this is too much
sumtim3s00n16 January 2019
Skipped the last few episodes, thought about giving it one last go with this episode but its the same. The quality this last season is scraping the bottom of the barrel. Its been going there slowly even last season but not so obviously. However now, this is absymal, the girlpower angle that is constantly literally shoved into our faces and various SJW practices. It makes this show seem like a promo for millenials and their more and more absurd and over the top agendas. And lately its not even mostly about Flash, it seems that everyone must have the same screen time, especially the women. It seems it doesnt even matter anymore today what the name of the show is or whos the leading character. If there is ONE women in it, she'll immediately be made equal and stand alongside him to fight even if shes the janitor. Its getting that absurd today. I miss the more serious, Flash oriented, slightly dark(ish) Flash. The better stories that werent all over the place, trying a little for everyone. I miss the comicbook FLash not the SJW millenial Flash.

Time is Not On My Side

Look, here's the thing, I know I may have overreacted to that Thawne reveal a few episodes ago. But forgive me, because this show has been desperately needing a kick in the butt to spark something exciting. Well, probably predictably so, The Flash & the Furious went back to the old ways of repeating the same old formula for a 42 minute CW show. First of all, why on earth is this episode titled after the Fast & Furious franchise? It literally had nothing to do with the series, at all. At least Legends of Tomorrow consistently makes an effort to poke fun at their titles that make an homage to a movie or television show. A few things to note: I would love to get extended scenes with Thawne, not just an opener or an end credits teaser. I have no interest in a "cure" storyline, we've seen how that's worked out in the past with other franchises. And lastly, I'd rather not spend an entire episode with Barry stuck in a cell without abilities while Nora does everything for him. But maybe that's just me.

Don't watch the promos and you will like this episode!
asb_deutsch20 January 2019
Welcome back, Flash fans...I hope everyone enjoyed their vacation! A totally refreshing start after one month of Aquaman and Bumblebee. Nice references of Legends and WayneTech were used in this episode. No forced-feminism this time! It also nice that they were divisions of Team Flash, just like Avengers: Infinity War. Each team were focusing on their own issues, thus facilitating room for character development, though the court scene was a bit exaggerated a bit.

Last but not the least, I like the father-daughter thing. Everyone deserves a second chance in life. Tom Cavanagh once again showed his prowess in his acting capabilities and I wish he could be in the director's seat again. Looking forward for the next episode! My ratings (based on what I marked on IMDb): Season 1: 200/23 = 8.69; Season 2: 193/23= 8.23; Season 3: 188/23= 8.17; Season 4: 146/23= 6.65 and Season 5= 70.5/10 = 7.05 (This episode = 7.5/10)

A weak midseason premiere hinders any longing interest in Cicada.
jaythezoomster12 May 2019
"The Flash & The Furious" has issues. There's no doubting that. It feels almost like an episode we should've gotten earlier in the season.

Going into this episode I expected a lot more. I was confused to see that Cicada wasn't even mentioned given the affects of the last encounter they had with him.

The lack of Barry also hurt the episode (it's understandable, though, as it lead to a great crossover) but it was still an entertaining time to see Nora and everyone else work to stop this meta car which to be fair, is an interesting and entertaining threat to face.

The real meat of the episode came from the discussions between Thawne and Nora as we finally learn more about why Nora is working with the biggest villain Barry will ever face. These scenes, combined with the lack of mention of Cicada are really making me wonder why he wasn't stopped in the last episode? I still like his power set and care about Orlin enough but honestly it feels like the show forgot about him this week.

As great as Nora and Thawne's scenes are, "The Flash & The Furious" can't keep up with the previous heights of Season 5 and it only continues to prove that maybe Cicada should've been dealt with in the 100th episode for good. A nice meta human car and some fine court drama isn't enough to propel a very uninteresting mid-season premiere.

Unnecessary storylines AND Bad acting?
bettttycooper18 January 2019
So you're telling me we waited almost a month for this? This was nothing like I wanted it to be! Dull storylines with bad graphics and cgi all come together with new actors who can't even read a line without being cringe and unrealistic! The big question is Where's this show going? I was so happy about all that reverse flash hype but Hell I think you're gonna give him a boring storyline and ruin his iconicness! The show is going downhill and the creators know it! I don't know why aren't they putting any effort to make things like they were in s1-3! I miss those good old times!

Well, that was a disappointment.
Sam_Ash_7617 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After the mighty strength of the 100th episode, it felt like a return to form for "The Flash", then this episode aired and I just found it dull. It's not a terrible episode of "The Flash" but its not a good one either. It's fair to say that by the end of the episode's runtime, I had pretty much almost forgotten what happened throughout the episode.

The opening scene is brilliant and adds more depth to the Thawne and Nora relationship, but after this happens, its a fairly boring simplistic episode involving subpar metahuman. My recommendation for fans would be to watch the opening 3 minutes and the last 5, as the last couple minutes provide some more information on this new metahuman cure concept that is quite interesting, I like where the series is heading with this direction, it also has another short scene with Nora and Thawne.

As for everything else happening in the episode, it's dull and forgetful. Ralph isn't even here to light things up, which brought the episode down significantly in my opinion. Worth a skip, don't bother with this episode, besides the opening and ending, it all follows the same formula that a lot of the other "Monster Of The Week" Episodes do.

The Flash is becoming a feminism and family Drama Show
casperberglund_16 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I had high expectations for this episode, but I was dissapointed.

Since the arrival of Nora, The Flash has become a feminism and family drama show. The Flash shouldn't even be called The Flash, because the show isn't about him anymore. The Flash, has become a guest star in his own show.

This episode reminded me of the episode "Girls Night Out", and that was one of the, if not, the worst episode of the The Flash. Everything about this episode was all about "Girl Power" and it's been like that for the whole season. They made Barry stuck in a cell for almost the whole episode just to show that females are good enough to save the day. What's the point of that? The show is called "The Flash", so we should expect that the show is based on him, and not forcing feminism down our throats. The villains this episode was horrible. They were poorly written, not interesting at all, they didn't feel threatening and everything they did was so predictable.

Nora is so annoying. She's been annoying this whole season, never listens too her parents, always whining, and she always acts so stupid. I know she came back to learn from Barry, but sometimes she just acts too stupid. I do hope she will grow more and become a better character, but right now, she's such an annoying character who only creates family drama all the time.

Cisco acted very strangely this episode. This is the first episode where I actually disliked him. When Caitlin said she didn't agree with him about curing metas, he made such a big deal out of it. Why? He was so angry and negative for the whole episode, it was just annoying.

Let's go over to the good parts of the episod shall we.

So, we all know there's something weird about Nora, and it looks like Sherloque is the only one who's noticed it. I really like that he's investigating her, and when he went to Gideon and asked for all the files about Nora, Gideon tells him all the files has been deleted. I really liked that scene because now Sherloque definitely knows somethings up. I'm also starting to like Sherloque more and more each episode. Another great thing about this episode was Thawne. I liked how we got to see more of his emotional side of him. Tom Cavanagh absolutely nailed it as Eboard, and the fact that the only good parts about this episode was about Tom's characters says how important he is to this show.

Anyways, I'm really looking forward to the next episode. It looks like we finally get some more real action. Hopefully the episode will be as good as the trailer makes it look.

the absurdities of iris
edkav17 January 2019
You make this series worse every day. We are bored with the absurdities of Iris and Iris. Barry's doing nothing but hanging around and beating. Grant Gustin is an excellent actor, but I don't want to follow the series anymore. What I want to see is the flash and flash team. Iris should be separated from the series because it reduces quality.

Getting worse.
johnny_white-8804927 January 2019
It's a shame really like this show but it just seems to be getting worse. Plus it seems to be deterred around the females a lot which I'm not saying they don't deserve screen time but it's like being ruined by feminism. Barry aka the flash can't do things by himself he always needs help it's embarrassing. Why didn't they put the power dampening cuffs on him so he wouldnt have to sit in that cell for like 24 hours. Did the writers forget they have those cuffs. Only decent thing about episode is reverse flash Oh and when will they just get rid of cecile and iris the two worst characters in this show. I just skip there scenes now they are that bad

Worst episode after 4×16
nazaningustin19 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe this. I'm starting to hate the show because it's getting more ridiculous. I'm a huge fan but this episode was really stupid. Nora isn't even the main character, they're showing her very important like she's the Flash, the villain was really childish with a really stupid superpower and you even ruined the best villain of the show, even killer frost wasn't cool. The only reason that I'm still watching the show is Grant, which he was bearly 5 minutes in this episode. And I thought that after season four's disaster, the writers fix the show, but it seems that they don't want to.

Boring
cruise0125 July 2019
Episode 5.10 (2.5 out of 5 stars).

After an exciting crossover and hints of a bigger threat to come. The episode follows back to what the season was focused on. Trying to stop Cicada. Well this episode loses track of the main story and follows the sub plot of Nora testifying against the Weather causing character from the previous episode. Another villain that is driving vehicles affected by the meta particles uses it to break her out. And Nora and Caitlyn try to stop her. Meanwhile, Barry gets effected by that lady's powers which is causing him to be unstable and needs to be locked in a cell. The episode was boring and dumb.

Ranking/Reviewing every Flash episode: Flash and the Furious
lbramson16 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Barry fights a car. No, I'm not making this up, Barry literally fights a prototype Batmobile. What has happened to this show? If there were Olympics for most forgettable Flash episode, this one would win the gold medal! Congratulations! You've managed to have no memorable things about you! What was going on in the pitch meeting when some guy just said "let's do Cars, but Barry is attacked by Lightning McQueen". I genuinely believe the show runners were high and just thought of the first thing they hallucinated. How do you come up with such a dumb concept? All my braincells just died!

5.5/10-Meh.😐
