Was this terrible? No, but it was just marginally adequate & quite frankly, "average" is something UTOPIA never was as a series & equally, it's something the show should've never (ever) become. For the story to achieve anything less than a "wow" response is an abject failure & absolutely, this was an irrefutable "meh".
Even the iconic plot twist revealed itself in such a lacklustre way, epitomising the problem with Gillian Flynn's adaptation; it totally misses the mark at every given opportunity, failing to create any kind of dramatic tension or atmosphere. Everything's so flat, unengaging & unimaginative.
I can remember audibly GASPING at the final few moments of the first season of the original - because of how brutally well constructed & shocking it was... But this? Constant wasted potential. It's sad to see.
