Where to even begin...
W011y4m525 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Contrived body swap storylines. Characters walking around without wearing PPE & having inconspicuous banquets in the centre of a medical setting. Atrocious dialogue. Amateur performances. Shoddy camera work. Multiple, blatant breaches of health & safety within a controlled, sealed environment; scientists taking off hazmat suits in hot zones (without going through rigorous stages of disinfection) so they can toast glasses of wine whilst inside a potentially biohazardous tent - serving finger food - during a pandemic. Same aforementioned scientists pressuring the FDA to distribute untested vaccine to American people without official approval. Citizens begging to receive untested vaccine etc.

Maybe this wouldn't be so cringe worthy & unbelievable if we weren't living through a literal pandemic but unfortunately for Utopia, we are - so audiences have the benefit of knowing what would actually happen in these circumstances & thus - when you take in to consideration things such as the anti-mask & anti-vaxx movement - this episode boasts a plethora of embarrassingly unrealistic sequences. It's just bad.

Ah I get the point of this show now, it's a complete joke, just not a funny one

The poor attempt at the "ugly Betty" style humor isn't dark humour, the "bad guys" in this show aren't scary or menacing, Gillian Flynn has taken the essence of Dennis Kelly's "utopia" & turned it into a running joke. Peeing in front of people while holding them at gunpoint doesn't indicate a strong woman, murdering an innocent person for no reason doesn't indicate a strong woman, strangling a former friend & protector doesn't indicate a strong woman, all those scenes were for shock value & nothing more, none of them furthered the story, none of them strengthened the plot, Gillian Flynn wouldn't know what a strong woman was if one walked up to her & punched her in the face. This show was over after the 2nd episode.

I Made A Sacrifice For A Safer, Happier, And Healthier Future

Warning: Spoilers
We begin here with DR STERN in the hazmat suit fighting the PANDEMIC with another DOCTOR. They are going over symptoms and talking about how so far NO ONE HAS SURVIVED. Okay I'm not sure what happened there but a woman peeling off her hazmat suit didn't make sense to me.

-1 Star for the opening sequence

So what is this?? The family is having a 'last meal' or something?? Oh this is the Christie family. What are they doing?? I'm not sure. It doesn't make much sense.

But, we move on, this Hyde and TEAM move on into some rich house. Oh and Grant has left half of the UTOPIA with a 'friend'. So they don't have ALL OF IT. Something is wrong with Becky. Flu???

So apparently HYDE 'NEVER' sets aside time for sex. 'When they break down that door the last thing you want is someone's D#$@ in you', she says. 'It makes it very hard to run.' Hey, true story.

+1 Star for a Very True Story on that one

The Team sees the news report on GRANT being a mass killer. That will make it hard for him to be seen in public for sure.

Oh I see what they are doing in the tent finally. They are staging a test for Stern's vaccine and trying to convince him it works. But it's a sham. They staged it. And Sterns is SO HAPPY!!!! There's just so much going on in that GOLDEN GLOWING TENT!!! Haha, until DALE wheels his daughter out into the quarantine camp shouting 'THERE'S A CURE!'' Then Sterns doesn't look so happy.

Then Toni TAMBLER from the FDA announces that they have to test the VACCINE and then STERNS starts advocating that it should be distributed immediately, a total flip on his previous position.

Hyde and GRAnt are on the move to go get the rest of UTOPIA. But Grant has been spotted and reported and ARBY is also on the move. Arby goes to the place where Grant was reported seen, and kills everyone. Everyone except the KID who is apparently Grant's friend that Grant gave half of UTOPIA to to hide for him. One thing is for sure, Arby is highly efficient.

Hyde and GRant show up at the same house. In a very interesting turn of events, ARBY has a change of heart. He lets Hyde and Grant live. And he gives them UTOPIA. I don't fully grasp his reason behind that but it certainly was a surprise.

This ep. gets a 5/10
