Beautiful story!
sicastro18 April 2020
I can't believe all the bad reviews. I loved this story and the characters. I do agree that it could have been told in one season, however I was sad to see it end. It was a beautiful love story that shows how tragedy can bring people together.

Colorful and nice series with plenty of intense drama , intrigue , passion , double life and death
ma-cortes4 February 2019
A sucessful architect woman called Alexandra (Verónica Sánchez) faces her worst nightmare when she gets a call from a local cop to identify the body of her husband Oscar (Alvaro Morte) , found on a pier in the spectacular Albufera landscape outside Valencia , Suicide ? . How can it be when they had made plans for their future just hours ago ? But it only gets worse : Oscar had been leading a double-life with another woman, Verónica (Irene Arcos) . Who is this woman? Who was the man she loved for 15 years? And what happened that fatal night on the pier? Taking on a false identity, Alex accompanied by her friend Katia (Marta Milans) travels to Valencia , then Alex moves in with Veronica and, with Guardia Civil Conrado's (Roberto Enriquez) help, delves into the secrets Oscar kept, soon leading her to question who, in the enchanting remoteness of the Albufera, is friend, who is foe. All of them result in an intriguing series , full of secrets , double life , death and inexpected twists .

This is a thrilling and enjoyable series with high doses of suspense , intrigue ,triangular love stories and plot twists . At the begining it is a simple story in which a woman to identify her husband Oscar's body, found on a pier in the beautiful Albufera but things go wrong when she discovers the suicide person had a double life ; as Alex would love to hate Veronica, Alex But will the bond they forge over Oscar's death survive the moment when Alex must reveal her true identity? Or can an even closer bond develop giving the Alex and Veronica the strength to uncover the whole truth together? . While the look is suitable attractive and intriguing, the plot spreads to the surprising breaking point , including an unexpected final that turns out to be extremely stirring . However , the film relies heavily on excessive dialog and sometimes monotonous conversation. The flick is rated ¨R¨ for a lot of loving scenes ,intercourses , male frontal nudity ,female nudism , lesbianism and violence .Main cast is pretty good , such as : Alvaro Morte gives a nice acting as Alex who discovers an alluring woman who leads a life so enticingly different from her own. Verónica Sánchez is acceptable as a high-profile architect faces her worst nightmare when she gets a call from local cop , though actress Valeria Alonso was originally cast as Alejandra, but she left the series for personal reasons . And Irene Arcos is charming and agreeable as the mysterious woman who has a really free spirit . Support cast is frankly well such as : Marta Milans , Roberto Enriquez , Antonio Garrido ,Miguel Fernández and the veteran Cecilia Roth as mother .

The series displays gorgeous outdoors from Valencian Albufera as well as a colorful and evocative cinematography from Álvaro Gutiérrez and Migue Amoedo. Furthermore , a sensitive musical score by Iván Martínez Lacámara and Manel Santisteban composed by means of synthesizer . Soundtrack Credits includes Coyotes Written and Performed by Travis Birds . In this series has collaborated powerful Production Companies as Movistar+ , Atresmedia Studios , Beta Film and Vancouver Media .The series well written and produced by Esther Martínez Lobato , Sonia Martínez , Álex Pina who created the successful ¨La Casa de Papel¨ and they are shooting the second season . Being compellingly directed by Jorge Dorado , Alex Rodrigo and Jesús Colmenar . Rating : Above average series . Well worth watching

A shiny plastic gem
ilozzoli11 May 2019
The pier is a show that promises a lot, but ends up delivering fairly little. There are many exciting questions about living a double life. Can both be real; or is there a more real one? Can you do it and stay sane at the same time? How comes that people close to you do not notice it? This is where the show starts off, and it presents a somewhat credible base story with decent acting. Some of the side stories are overdone, but they are still OK. The bad thing is that unfortunately the dialogue is often poor, and the reason it really hurts is because the whole shows is dragged out much too long. I felt that a 6-episode miniseries would have been more than enough, then I had to learn in episode eight that the producers would probably like to make another season. It is not worth that much.

vcalvo-6069429 January 2019
I liked all in these 8 episodes The photography, the acting, the directing and of course the story around these men and women in today's Spain. The story captured my attention form beginning to end. I hope there will be more episodes.

Could do with extensive editing
shieldfire21 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Alejandra's husband is found dead in a small town outside Valencia, when he's supposed to be in Frankfurt. Alejandra pesters the police to investigate the apparent suicide and finds that her husband has been living a double life with a girlfriend. For eight years. It transpires that what the husband - Oscar - actually did for a living is very unclear, as he resigned from his day job many years previously.

So far so good. It has the good story for a thriller.

This is a Spanish relationship drama/thriller and this is the problem. It would have gained more traction if it had decided to be one or the other. The director has decided that using numerous flashbacks to portray Oscar's double life, the problem is - it slows down the episodes, and doesn't necessarily add much that couldn't have been added using standard "thriller-methods".

The developing relationship between Alejandra and Veronica, or the relationship between Alejandra and Conrado could be explored - or the thriller elements. Now things falls in between. The thriller element turns out to be your standard, crime fare, with a slight twist at the end (we've seen it before) - the Alejandra/Veronica relationship is given too little time to fully develop (we've seen better series with lesbian/bi-sexual themes before). This is a pity as the interaction between Alejandra, Veronica and her daughter Sol is electric at times. One of the last scenes where Sol (?) has changed the little star Veronica has in the windscreen from reading "Sol/Mama" to "Sol/Mamas" and Sol's last line "A dónde vamos, mamas?" is touching.

One problem with the show is the solution to the endgame is the plot Conrado comes up with, doesn't hold water (!) even if the scheme is supposed to save Alejandra and Veronica. The main problem, however, of the whole series, however, is the speed of narration. I can't avoid thinking it needs at least another editing session. Flashbacks can be interesting, but when they almost take up 50% of episode time it drags. Badly.

Brilliant! Beautiful and intriguing storyline...
seanroq29 January 2020
I highly recommend seeing this series. The acting is definitely warm and it´s refreshing to watch a series with less focus on violence and more on love. Problems appear but they are solved. It´s a feel good-series, and the nudity is definitely not mal-placed or without logic. It is done beautifully, both the acting, filming and storyline. And I keep getting surprised of the twists the story takes. The series have strong female characters and strong male characters. There is balance, no forced feminism. And nor the male or female characters are being judged for life for their mistakes. They are all HUMAN! It is refreshing to see spanish series where being naked is as normal as making dinner. For both genders! Something to think about these days when every other actress feel the need to play victim/politically correct and "regret" doing nude-scenes a few years earlier in their career, after making it big. The music is very good too, and I find myself falling in love with characters that in the first place annoyed me.

Poor yourself a drink and watch it!

Nice despite of Veronica Sanchez
nicolaschvs17 March 2019
Really cool story very well produced and performed for almost all of the actress and actors, excepting Veronica Sanchez (Alejandra) who unfortunately doesn't reach the level of the her colleagues.

Tense, interesting, unexpected, engaging... what else do you need? ..
ramilot13 April 2020
My wife and I are series enthusiasts. We dive into the series and the rule is: if it is interesting in the first quarter ... continue. If not abandoned ... well ... we couldn't help this series ... interesting, different, with a taste of more. Interesting characters, diving into the tangles of the twisting mind and hovering over strata of conventions. Don't miss out!

Would have been nice if ...
imw5912 August 2020
They would have cut out half the number of love scenes. It tends to get pretty boring. The series would probably have been 'compressed' to one season. Don't have a clue as to what the director had in mind with these numerous love scenes. I used the fast forward button quite a lot of times... The storyline is fine though.

Promissing a lot, but the end is very disappointing
jaz-155527 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
They use 7 episodes in a very slow pace and with a countless number of flashbacks to built-up to the plot, with a lot of useless nudity and semi erotic scenes, then the plot is partly revealed in the last 10 minutes and the serie ends. Having watched the last episode, I have a bad taste and found the entire serie a waist of time.

Wonderfully complex, slow moving yet ever changing
dzjang1 June 2019
Exciting series, with a lot of unexpected developments. Like a puzzle pieced together one piece at a time. In this dark prude time period, the sensuality of the characters almost seems out of place. Sparks fly, on a bed of understated beauty and emotion. A wonderful series with love as its' principal theme & character...

Brilliant photography but nothing else...
emmyambo29 January 2019
A TV series with a brilliant realization and photography; however, the story has no credibility whatsoever and flaw. The performance of the three protagonists is fair, but sometimes the overacting of Veronica Sanchez is irritating.

Best series I've seen this year
teenydutton6 February 2020
Beautiful love scenes, realistic view from all sides of an affair. Amazing actors. I saw a low rating below and they must have seen a different show because this one is great. If you love money heist, elite and locked up then you will love this series

what a great surprise
rklemm053 April 2020
I honestly didn't know what I was embarking on when watching this show. Turns out, it is captivating, emotional (but not soapy), the acting and the plot are perfect, keep you hooked. I like the fact that it's perfectly balanced between the different storylines. I hadn't seen time pass when I found myself watching the season 1 finale. How come it's not more famous?

The first two episodes are good, then it just loses steam.
jk-692-23639411 November 2019
Very mediocre plot wise. Gosh I felt like they could have done so much more with it. The filming is lovely and the actresses are beautiful. I liked the flash backs, but by the end, you just did not care about the characters any more. This was too long and drawn out and it was not creative plot wise. The wrapped up 8 episodes in the last 10 minutes? And did not really close the book on the threads. I think they want a second season. I will pass.

I think this is an amazing series that keeps you hooked on what will happen next... I loved how they managed to entwine the story through each character and not make you hate anybody... The flashbacks are so well fitted in each scene ...It's a rollercoaster of emotions and feelings.. sad ,happy , alluring and intriguing. Well done to everyone!

So special. So original. So beautiful
edxna18 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
After watching la casa de papel, i wanted to see Álvaro Morte in other roles too. Well, this show is so charismatic, with great actors, beautiful shots and very interesting and original plot. It has something so special, you can really feel what the characters feel.

I really liked the idea of combining the past with the present, and how in the final episode, the present was combined with the future.

Just one thing was not that well executed, but i'm not sure. Everyone knows at some point that he actually killed himself, bc there are too many signs, and it's like " yeah, it was obvious". The plot twist would be, if he was actually murdered. BUT, i'm not complaining, this ending was really nice too.

10/10. Spanish tv shows/movies are amazing.

GREAT SERIES BUT WHERE IS SEASON 2 in USA??
VLE08085 November 2023
I absolutely love with Alvaro Morte during Money Heist where he played la Professor, so I was excited to watch this one. The writers do a great job of building on the relationship between the two women which is an unconventional one. Many people might think that would never happen in real life but as you watch the series it's very believable. I am just really frustrated that there is a season two that I can't access here in the United States.

Absolutely fantastic story of unexpected love and pain, and there's a murder mystery to boot. The series ends in a complete cliffhanger, so not being able to access. The second seasoning is extremely frustrating! Hopefully somebody who is part of the production of this show sees this review and figures out a way for us Americans to be able to access season two. I actually subscribed to FlixLatino just to watch this, so come on guys...give us access here!

It drags on forever
smitluydert30 July 2019
I wacthed the first two episodes and although the story itself has some potential, it really is strechted beyond the limit. The first six episodes migth as well have been condensed in one which in turn would have added to the quality. There is no "punch line" until the very end and this in turn is predicatable / could have been interwoven from the very beginning.

I fast forwarded the episodes and in the meantime read a book.

exciting and beautiful erotic film drama
walsan25 June 2023
This exciting and beautiful erotic film drama is an enchanting experience that stimulates all the senses. With beautiful cinematography, deep characters and a good story, the story brings desire and intimacy to life in an elegant and liberating way. A series that is definitely worth watching. And where both man and woman can become erotically stimulated. We loved it.

The story follows, among other things, the fascinating relationship between the characters, who at some point surrender to their own bisexual feelings and desires. It is sometimes an exploration of sexuality without judgment, with the film elegantly showing how love and desire know no bounds. The freedom that this film radiates appeals to the imagination and more or less invites the viewer to explore their own desires and boundaries.

Esta crap
gce230818 May 2019
Have watched 2 episodes and can't watch anymore. The over-dramatic, bordering on the hysterical, scenes by the lead lady are too much to bear. She over-acts something awful as do the rest of the cast. The Spanish always seem to do this -they load the drama on way too thick. Enough, already.

Extremely boring
rvdbhk29 July 2019
This story goes on and on about some hippy style promiscuous woman and is never believable. I gave two stars for the cinematography. There is no suspense whatsoever.
