Beautiful Song, Fine Video
Rodrigo_Amaro2 March 2021
An exquisite music video to such an inspired and poetic song, but valid anyway, "Sonnet" brings Verve leader Richard Ashcroft performing the song inside this poorly lit parking garage seated on a strange circular couch. At times the close-up on his face serves the purpose of a cut away to a more serene and light scenario of nature and mountains. It may look and sound like a sonnet, Maybe that's the poetry from the images.

I didn't find much of an inspired music video, it doesn't translate the song as it could but it's nice to watch. Richard brings the exact feelings into his voice and his hard expressive face. The other band members only appear at the conclusion, almost like in the official video of "Lucky Man" where Ashcroft is the main attraction (same album "Urban Hymns"). Worthy because of the sound, some style in the images and the sung poetry. Rick is impecable. 7/10
