I liked it, the twist was good. Although she could have escaped early in the movie when she had the knife.

A satisfactory thriller

Warning: Spoilers
The plot was a bit ambiguous and some characters needed more screen-time, but overall I was pleased with how this developed. This is a rare movie where the use of flashback enhanced the story.
A major loose end was when Uncle Jeff visited the home. Jeff is aware that Evan is mentally ill. Based on that, if he was under the impression that "Katherine" would in danger, shouldn't he have asked to see her? Based on the newspaper article that Lily found, we know the mother was killed in an accident, but it's implied that Katherine is still alive and possibly ran off with her boyfriend.
Despite the confusion, I enjoyed the show. It was a slow burning psychological thriller. Limited violence and horror, but enough buildup.

Medium Drama

Tori Kostic is Lily, a teenage girl with an abusive father who runs away with her boyfriend into a forest. He exits stage left early and she seeks food and shelter.
After finding a nice house in the middle of nowhere, she is taken in by a delusional man who believes that she is his daughter.
He is a bipolar dude who berates her while "coaching" her for some upcoming track event. Lily is trapped and in order to survive, assumes the identity of the crazy man's daughter.
The Vince Lombardi style "dad" has his girl running on a treadmill and doing numerous situps in order to whip her into top physical condition.
I must say that by the end of the film, Lily was quite ready for a marathon.
The ending has a bit of a twist but it did not surprise me. The two main characters are onscreen for most of the movie and they are fine.
Overall, an average drama.

Warning: Spoilers
Lily (Tori Kostic ) lives with an abusive step-father (David Lee Hess). She runs away from home with her boyfriend Niel (Jairus Carey ), a plan that needed work. Camping in the woods they get separated. Lily comes upon a home and asks for help to an overly friendly man (William Kircher) who is off his meds. He mistakes Lily for his own daughter Katherine (Meghan Hanako) who would be about the same age. Lily is held captive by a loving man, the father she always wanted as her attempts at escape become fewer and far between.
It was a captive tale done differently with Stockholm Syndrome on steroids. The ending had a twist but not too unexpected. Worth a view for those who like a quirk.
Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

Where is the climax and realism?

Girl gets locked but and has several possibilities to escape but does not use them, she could have done more. I kept waiting for the climax yet there isn't one. Instead there is a plot twist that could make things climax but instead we get an unrealistic progress which made me think wtf. The ending soon follows which left me speechless like "are you serious?"
I wish I skipped this one but I can only warn others now.
Also the father's acting and behaviour were irritating. Better skip because this movie is empty!

If you're a thriller fan you're gonna like this movie. The story was good, the acting was good. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I've probably seen every thriller out there. If you'd like a good thriller with a twist, then just give it a chance and you won't be disappointed.
Horribly unrealistic

A solid, well-done thriller.

William Kircher and Tori Kostic (in her acting debut) provide us with great performances, a very special dynamic duo that for that alone is worth watching the movie. Both are the best of the film. The script, by Savvas Christou (also the director), is good enough to get to know and develop the two characters and reach the climax. It may be a simple story, but it is still excellent.
Cleverly crafted

This was my personal favorite of the movies on Frightening Ass Film Fest.
If like me, you're a fan of suspense, and love a movie packed with tension, then this one will tick a lot of boxes for you. It's very tense, at times a little grim, and I guess on occasion you'll need to suspend belief, but it's gripping, very cleverly crafted. The film felt very different to other horror/thrillers I've seen recently, there was a fair bit of originality to it..
The first part of the film was somewhat moderate, built up tension. The second half of the film trebles the tension, at times the twists are almost back to back, it was expertly done.
William Kircher plays the cabin owner and is pitch perfect here. the other main actress is good, but WK steals the show in my opinion. for me, this is a clear 7/10.

Not perfect, but taught and tense!

I really loved this film even though there were a few plot holes for me, namely that Lily wouldn't be smart enough to play along with a lunatic to get to a point where she had access to help. But other than that, I thought the buildup was really excellent. A really fun ride.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this work from A to Z.

Making a B-movie means not having enough budget for a film, location and personnel, but that doesn't mean it's bad. The small budget of course limits the spectrum of where you can shoot and film. In addition, you can't get stars like Bruce Willis (Knalltüte) because you don't want to risk him burning down the beautiful Waldhaus (house in the woods),just because he was offered 49 Million instead of 50.
But now to the film.... It's a very interesting Stockholm Syndrome psychological thriller that keeps the audience interested until the end and the ending is absolutely unexpected. Moreover, the actors are very good, mainly father and "daughter". A film with only six actors, a house in the woods and a somewhat confusing script (but that's what mystery is all about).
Only 30 years ago, a Hollywood director and producer would have risked making something like this, but today? No, of course not. The people need bread and games, and Hollywood shamelessly exploits this situation by shooting far simpler, dumber and shallower scripts, but with lots of action, blood and naked torsos. ;)

Rubbish

It's more like a school play. The actresses walk around with stiff necks and tense posture and just narrate their monosyllable predictive lines. Yaaaawn! All those first 9-star comments and likes are well over-rated and just from supporters. Anyway, if you have time to kill, then watch it and rate it.
Not much happens

This movie revolves around the world's gentlest captivity. Evan is more ill tempered than menacing or threatening. Lily shows very little ability to plan an escape. The ending is a pleasant surprise, but shows how much more inventive the rest of the story could have been.
Surprisingly captivating

Interesting story that keeps you guessing until the last second. A lot of character development, great acting performances and very aesthetically pleasing shots.
It does suffer from an uneven pace but overall it is a great indie psychologial thriller.

The twist is not quite what you would expect, even if you're well trained in thrillers.
Acting in this one is quite good and I found the story to be intriguing and believable along with the acting makes this a pretty solid movie.

The dad's performance is unreal!
styliano-872438 May 2021
A character-driven psychological thriller with a brilliant ending! The lead actors had a great chemistry, but to me the guy who played the Dad was exceptional. He'll make you sympathize with the "villain". Overall it's a very entertaining watch for the genre fans and way deeper than what it might look on the surface!!!
Very clever take on this genre!

To make this short and sweet all I have to say is go watch the movie and enjoy how the story unfolds.
It was a slow burner at the beginning but after the first part it starts to build up exponentially.
Loved the acting from William Kircher, overall the cast did a good job.
The ending was all the money for me (I won't say no spoilers).
I love this genre and we need more well-done movies like this.
