The Usual Malarkey
Steve's master leaves him in the pasture and takes his sisters to the horse show. Of course a fairy godmother shows up and arranges for the cart horse to go to the show, with the usual restrictions, and results.
It's the last of half a dozen theatrical releases that Roland Davies produced, based on his popular comic strip COME ON, STEVE. Throughout, the character design and animation remained primitive, although the background art was pretty good. Why did it end? Perhaps their primary distributor, Butcher's, couldn't make a profit on the series; hand-drawn animation was always the most expensive field of theatrical movies. Whatever the reason, there one one more release, an industrial film for Ford Tractors, and that was it.
