First of all, this series was not made for Americans to like it. The purpose of this drama is to tell the saga of July 15 to the public, so whether the action scenes are good or bad doesn't interest me. The series has fulfilled its original purpose.

I am an english teacher at a private school in Istanbul. You can say I'm a long term tourist in a beautiful country. I lived through the events of July 15th 2016. It was an extremely dangerous and polarizing night when against all odds the democratically elected government and the brave security forces won against the shadowy conspiracy of an Khomeini-like cleric and their faction within the military and the police.
This film is about that second group of people. It is a peek into that night when patriotic police and soldiers went through great ordeals to protect against a modern putsch that Turkey might not have survived at all.
The film itself is well acted, action packed and full of triple-A visuals which are an absolute delight considering cinema in Turkey is in its infancy when it comes to action. It is miles better than any in-house production Netflix ever came up with, while clearly being a fraction of the budget.
Even though almost everyone is familiar with the maverick Mr. Caglar who produced the film (I should know all my 12th grade English literature students are fanatics of his style), the two talented directors Emre and Ozduru who weave heart-pounding action and grim drama deserve props. The sublime musical composer Lincoln Jaeger is also world class here, as well as the cinematographer who lights a dark and foreboding urban Ankara where only the brave roam the streets of the putsch. Turks often have trouble relating their point of view to the western world. They have a tempestous love and hate relationship with the democracies of the Atlantic. But this film does and will appeal to the discerning international viewer who wants to enjoy a thrilling slice of the distressing night that Ataturk's republic almost fell.

So, this is a movie for the finale of the "Börü" series. And, it was too bad, even for to be the final episode of the "Börü" series. Even some episodes of the serie was better than the movie.
I was hopeful about the movie. But that was not what I expected. I was almost asleep in the cinema.
Helicopter chase was extremely long, boring and absurd. That Cobra would have turned that armored vehicle into a Swiss cheese in 5 seconds, with it's 1500 rpm gun and with it's 20mm huge bullets. I think the pilot was drunk. No other explanation. Really absurd. It's almost an insult to the audience. Also cgi was bad for this scene.
Dogfight scenes were pretty good. Cgi was great, sounds, dialogues were accomplished. These were my favorite scenes. And the soundtrack for this part was very nice.
Gunfight scenes were not well coordinated and boring. These scenes were horribly awful. I have a suggestion for the director, there are choreograps for this kind of gunfight scenes, I think you'd better take their help. The same goes for the fight scene in the final. It was bad. I'm not a fan of it but, from what i see on Youtube, Bollywood is shooting better fighting or gunfight scenes. No exaggeration... Either it must be realistic, or it should be fun, although ridiculous. It was boring because neither one of them was here.
I really care about soundtracks. Soundtracks weren't wonderful. But they were good enough. It wasn't a minus or a plus for the movie. Just good enough. But it wasn't as pretty as I'd like to listen to.
And same problem continues, the sounds are not well organized. I think the good and well organized sounds are secret heroes that make a movie good. Most of the time, it's hard to notice them. But you feel that something is missing in their absence. I felt that. Sound design. Please work with people who can handle this.
The script was ordinary, mediocre. If we take a few scenes out, it was equal to the quality of a television series. That wasn't the final I was expecting.
And, the final scene was totally a comic sweet dream. I wish we could do that. Those who watched the movie understood what scene I was talking about. My sincerely advice to the director is to stop being a populist.
This film tells what happened that night through a small group of special police unit. But the film was far from reflecting the violence, chaos of that night. The July 15 coup attempt deserves a much more comprehensive film. But Turkey's current political situation will not allow it. What happened that night is still a mystery. And unfortunately it will stay that way for a while.

I won't write much about it, because it may spoil your the movie. Fact is, that Alper Caglar as Turkish director and producer is unique. He knows, what the modern viewers want to see and he just implements it in his movies. The special effects, acting, camera movement, dialogues and the implementation of the latest coup attempt in Turkey is just terrific. Here I want to add that my thoughts and prayers are with the martyrs of that coup attempt and their families. Over 250 people gave their lives to stop terrorist Gulenists from taking over Turkey completely.

Storyline was not good. If you don't have any knowledge about coup attempt, you don't understand anything from the movie. Visual effects could be better. The action could have been higher. 3/10

Being out on the Bosphorus bridge in July 15 and witnessing civilians killed or wounded in front of my eyes and having faced cold truth of death, I watched the film with tears. Yes dialogs could have been better or civilian dimension was weakly displayed or technicalities may prevented the joy but still it deserves to be seen for the sake of martyrs as it depicts a true story...

Börü (Wolf) was streets ahead of all other tv series in Turkey. I was very hyped for its movie. However, it was really disappointing for me. First lets talk about good parts of the movie.
In terms of colors and shooting angles, this movie is a world-class one. Some of the actors did their job really good, in acting of course. Unfortunately, good parts are over.
Now for the bad parts of the movie... First part on my list is dialogues. They are just awful. For a moment i thought i was watching an American movie. Too long stories are told in the movie and because of this some scenes are unnecessarily long and also boring.
Second, visual effects and cgi. I mean, i live in Turkey and i am kinda in its cinema industry and i know it is hard to find financial support. I also know there are no enough skilled cgi and vfx companies in Turkey. But this is not an excuse. It should not be an excuse. You should look for other options. Because vfx and cgi are really important factors in these sort of movies. This movie simply failed in terms of vfx and cgi.
Third, sounds. I really couldn't understand what you tried to do but if your goal wasn't creating an interesting atmosphere then i can say that sounds were bad organized. Sometimes i felt like you forgot to put a sound for a shot or a punch.
Fourth and the last part, casting. Acting of some actors are good in the movie but in my opinion some of the actors dont quite suit for their roles. For example, without wishing to lay down the law, i think Zafer Algöz -i think he is a good actor btw- doesnt really suit for Osman Alan character -which is a character that Americanized-.
Generally, i didnt like the movie. As i said, colors and shooting angles are nice but movie is bad edited. Also some scenes are idle. Didnt satisfy my expectations.

The actors who delivered amazing performances in the series were acting as if they were in a high school musical. The music was really generic and left me unsatisfied after the masterful soundtrack of the series. Also the sound design was really bad, it felt as if I was watching a YouTube action short film produced by a couple of cinema enthusiasts. The extras in the background were laughably bad. The bad guys were super shallow and unconvincing. Main antagonist was screaming 'I AM EVIL' throughout the movie in such a way that I was cringing so hard. I also didn't like the increased amount of Islamic elements in the movie compared to the series as well. It truly deviates from its core. I feel like the movie really tried to appeal to the general Turkish audicance compared to the series which was unique in its own style instead of showing people what they want like the movie.
I feel like this movie was rushed and was made just to finish off the series. I was expecting so much more. I hope that Alper Çaglar doesn't repeat the huge mistakes that he did with this movie in his future projects. I have been really enjoying his projects since the first Dag movie but this one really upset and disappointed me.

Just a poor copy of American TV series. Too slow, few Action and too many pause. Nice try but fail.
After Generation Kill and Over There nothing sounds good

Despite all the action the movie is really slow, lots of dialogues that made non sense and/or super cliche and definitely too long.
The acting and action effects also really mediocre and yet are the same actors as the tb show.
It's a pity as I really enjoyed the tv show and I also found interesting and refreshing that rather of making a season 2 they choose to make a movie, if only it was a good movie!

I am not sure if I ever watched a worse Turkish movie than this one here. "Heart pounding action film?". You have to be really sick. Totally non-realistic. Hottie in the fighting jet thought herself in an episode of Galactica. Don't waste your time :)
