I'm sure they didn't have it as a source material, but in an emergent way this movie has put forward the core messages of how a human civilisation can move from just surviving into thriving, which is being hotly discussed right now among the people debating about western civilisation. Some lessons need mulitple generations to learn, and one of them is this : for society as a whole, there is greater long term wealth and prosperity waiting if they can get themselves to ditch the "chhal-kapat" (deception, lies) that give limited short term gain and were necessary in rough times; and instead adopt Truth and Honesty. Though that makes things difficult in short term and doesn't pass the immediate logic tests, it brings rewards that our limited logical mind cannot process. Which is why this lesson takes generations to learn. One path is zero-sum where you pull down someone in order to succeed and the other is regenerative where everyone can flourish and the net wealth and prosperity increases. So the movie is a clarion call to Indian civilisation as we stand at a crossroads to move forward by taking the path of Truth. On core story I'll give it 10/10. In plotline, things did feel a bit stretched out, but hey maybe I'm more impatient, and the story needed them to stretch out. This movie pits logic against wisdom and compels the viewer to see the nuanced differences between the two.

This movie is quite good. it is not your usual Gujarati movie. well it is not even regular movie.
the movie is one big argument about choosing path.
one path is easy and seems practical at the moment. while other one is full of hardships and seems un-practical at the moment. former one promises security of materialistic comforts while later one offers internal peace.
in the moment of crisis what you should do it is what suggested in movie. while it is true or not it is highly subjective.
it's conclusion will feel too good to be real for many people especially non-Gujaratis. and one who lived in society where money is everything.
At technical part I say some of the common people's reactions were un-neccesary.
overall i say it is 9/10.
i gave it 10 above cause I feel it should be watched my many.

A must watch movie for any language speaking audience,no melodrama, very good flow of thoughts and interaction between each character.The point and the message, the makers are trying to convey through each character is put across very smoothly with out jumping from 1 point to another. Very well written and the dialogues are crisp,realistic, relatable, and not vague. I would recommend this movie to anyone who like to watch a good movie.

After seeing such high ratings for this movie on IMDB, I was expecting to be highly impressed but sadly I didn't. Infact, it is so far from 9 out of 10 (it's current rating) that I think most of reviews are fake reviews written by the production company. One reviewer goes as far as to suggest an Oscar nomination for this movie, REALLY!?!
It is however a good enough movie and all the lead actors are amazing but in the end the movie lacks conviction and its also full of plotholes. How does such a legendary business empire suddenly loses everything? How does a reporter sneaks into the house unnoticed despite of so many security guards at the gate? Infact, the reporter literally breaks into the house which will easily land him in jail for trespassing. Will a reporter really be so stupid to risk jail time to get some live footage? Will the police really patiently wait outside the house despite of having an arrest warrant? Will other extremely spoilt youngsters of the house really, without throwing any tantrums, just agree to live a simple life when they've never seen any compromise in their life?
The list of plotholes can be so much bigger but I do not want to get into too much criticism because the movie is good enough overall and it does have good enough content to keep you interested and also impress in many different aspects. The direction is good and unique and cinematography is also decent. In the end, I would say this movie is a one time watch or even twice if you are very impressed by all the philosophical, ideological and psychological drama. I will give it an honest 6 out of 10 in my opinion.

Truly a coming of age movie in Gujarati Cinema

Recently, there are many Gujarati movies whose sensibilities are the reflection of today's generation. Chal Man Jeetva Jaiye is one of such movies. But, I must confess, most of such movies follow Hindi cinema template but this movie is quite a unique. I would say it's an experience. We, Gujarati Cinema have come a long way from "Sajan na Sathvare (the first movie I ever show in cinema)" to this movie.
The story is excellent, Acting is superb, the supporting cast is wonderful production value is great but one should watch the movie for the way it has been told. Truly artistic! Bravo Dipesh shah. Dev and Viren were outstanding. One should watch it with the complete family.
Without any spoiler, I think if you want to have an experience of a lifetime, this is one such movie where you will keep thinking about it long after finishing it.

This movie is driven by dialogues and screen play.
It drives you from start to finish with emotional roller coasters just based on philosophical and logical thought that both bring you to better solution compare to emotional.
I wish we have more and more films like this.

The story is about a very reputed and wealthy family which is suddenly hit by a financial crisis which will sink them to rock bottom. The family deals with the shock and disbelief, debates the two ways of dealing with the crisis and eventually comes to a unanimous decision. A detailed treatment is given to why not be absolutely selfish in difficult times as against why sell out all your long earned goodwill and credibility. Strong economic and logical sense is pitted against short term selfishness.
The story has been narrated well, with probably no unnecessary or superfluous scene anywhere. The picture boxes containing live reactions of surreptitious watchers of the enfolding family drama was done superbly. That counter balances the hint of closed spaces of a largely indoor, one room drama. These picture boxes deserve tons of additional applause.
There are no implausible or jerky moments in the entire narration. There was tight control over emotional meandering in the story when the shock sinks in and the other family members are in disbelief. None of the actors got very long monologues, and no one actor overshadowed in the story.
Krishna Bharadwaj (as Dev), Dharmendra Gohil (as Vasant) and Rajiv Mehta (as Suryakant) acted very well. Between Krishna Bharadwaj and Dharmendra Gohil, it is difficult to say who was better. Hemen Chauhan (as Viren), with many dialogues and good camera time, was good, but did not impress, as compared to the three other actors mentioned above. Strangely, the two girls Sheetal Pandya (as Pallavi) and Ketkie Jayshree Parekh (as Ananya) inexplicably seemed quite immature.
Apart from the two girls mentioned above, every other actor, including the ones which had the smallest of roles, was good.
The title song was rousing and excellent. It created pleasant anticipation for the movie to begin. Wisely, there was no song during the entire movie.
The house where they live and where all the action happens befits an ultra rich family. The film location therefore, was appropriate.
The on camera exhortations of the five Ideology Ambassadors (not well known people, at least to me) at the end of the movie was in bad taste. It spoils the overall impression of this well-made movie, with a powerful story, told well. The good message to be gleaned from the story is for the audience to understand, and not for these Ambassadors to lay it out in black and white after having taken so much care to narrate the story. The story and its message hits the audience without any distractions, and there is no need to buttress that underlying message by having relatively unknown Gujarat based (?) businessmen sermonize at the end. (Perhaps these five persons have financed the movie?).
The police officer who comes to arrest the family members did not look a policeman, what with his stylish wavy hair, which they tried to hide under his police hat. Perhaps he could have had a proper haircut like other Indian policemen in general?
At the end, they announce that Part 2 of the movie will come in 2018. Where is it? We are now in 2019.

A Lost Opportunity

I was looking forward to seeing the 2nd part after seeing the first one. But I was disappointed grossly after I saw it yesterday.
The film has not been able to build with the climax of first part. Instead it has slipped into portraying pseudo philosophy of management of life problems. The narrative has become like sermons from various gurus. Nothing concrete to build upon, the director struggles badly to keep the tempo by attempting funny VFX and dream sequences.
At the end of the movie I was wondering what message the director tried to give through this movie.
Manobal was the key word director got hooked to and tried building his sermons around it.
Life's problems do not get solved by mere sermons otherwise crores of people who attend dailly to various gurus would have lived happily.
Also noone comes and showers upon you a gift of 100 crores just like that. How many people in real life have experienced such fantasy coming true !
The acting of various actors is good but they also look confused about what they are conveying !
A movie that has lost its direction and miserably failed in showing path to real life issues.
Any book by motivational speakers would be more focussed and perhaps helpful.

Words cannot describe my feelings about this movie. One of the finest movies of all times. So simple yet so meaning full and entertaining offcourse. A worth watch in a lifetime movie. I encourage every one to watch it.

What worked:
- screenplay and dialogues; the movie is super interesting, engaging and humorous. It's one of those movie with the emotions on the right place at right time. It's an exceptional movie viewing experience, with dilemmas;philosophical and psychological quests and concerns. The movie makes its point and also keeps in balance the essence of the pivotal arguments in place.
- mood and setting; the movie somehow lacks the photogenic aspect of the set especially the color and lights. Also, some scenes were bit glorified, and at times resembled soap operas.

It's one of the best movie. The way the conversation is carried and how it ends, the complete thing is awesome. The complete discussion within the family can also be metaphor as a conversation within your mind when you want to take some life changing decisions. It also shows how value system build in you can help to reach a conclusion.
Such kind of movies are way way better than any bollywood movies released in past few years. It's simple but effective. Acting of each & every character is awesome. Everything in this film is good. I love this movie. I enjoyed the movie. Gujarati movie industry needs more recognition than it is now. This whole industry is doing much much better than bollywood.
