Great

A fresh perspective of life in a Brazilian favela. It's interesting to see the cultural, religious and drugs underworld all connected.

Yes... It's a good series

Don't bother with the negative comments. Of course this series is far from great, but is entertaining. You would have some idea of how the things work in favela. In brazil most of people have the "mutt syndrome". It means that these people always find better the things in another country than brazil. For example. Change this actors for some teenage american actors, then change the city from São Paulo to New York, finally change the funk for hip hop and I bet this series will have at least 7,5 on imdb.

Sintonia is Brazil
marco-franca22 August 2019
Sintonia does a fair job in depicting life in the slums (favelas) of Brazil's largest city - São Paulo. The lives of a young rapper (funkeiro), evangelical and gangster are intertwined in a simple and predictable story. The sad reality is that not many paths exist for those in the favelas. Netflix has my praise for taking the favela to a global public, perhaps the world now know that those in the favelas are are only trying to live a life like anyone else.

I like it!

A contemporary view of São Paulo youth living in low-income communities where financial opportunities are scarce. The main characters are 3 slum clichés: a drug dealer, an evangelical and a "funkeiro" - singer of Brazilian funk music. The characters are likeable and the story is interesting.

Entertaining but lacks depth
lima0711 February 2021
Sintonia is a fast-paced series about three young friends trying to make it out of the Favela in one way or the other. It depicts the reality of life in the poorer parts of Brazil pretty well and manages to be entertaining and fun. However the story moves a little too fast at times and there is not enough character development. Things kind of just happen off-screen and it moves quickly from one plot to another without properly exploring the various plot points to their logical conclusions first. This is the biggest drawback of the series and I see no reason why they couldn't have created more depth because there are a lot of scenes that are unnecessarily long and could be cut down in favor of adding more scenes instead. That would really have helped to flesh out the series and transformed it from merely a good series to a great one.

Nice Soap-Opera Series
bernardoclc13 August 2019
It's written like a regular Brazilian Soap Opera, there is a classic storyline, the actors are not great but not terrible, there is a little bit of spice to it, maybe because its a "favela" centered story I was expecting something extraordinary. Still would watch it before going to bed though. About the slangs, I'would much rather have this many slangs than actors speaking proper portuguese, no one speaks proper portuguese specially in a poorer neighborhood. Wouldnt be able to tell if it's closer to the real life since i've never been allowed inside a favela once.

If anything, I would want to see more spice to it, and remove the red and blue filter in every scene.

This could have been better
zathan-3284814 August 2019
This series started out great with interesting stories and characters. What ruins the series is all the religious nonsense. They should have made a much better path for "Rita". They clearly show that the church and priest is all about the money, but there is nothing more to it... "Rita" is portrayed as smart, but she still falls for the religious nonsense and that is just wrong

Waist of time

It's terrible, nobody speak that lots of slangs in Brasil, not even at "favela". So please do it again, do it right! The protagonist is the worst actor, wtf?! The acting in general is ordinary! Sad!

Really good

Even though I am not Brazilian I watch the show with English subtitles and read it while the actually Brazilian audio is on. Also this show depicts some of what real people and kids have to go through.

The ending makes me want to unseen the whole series like for real.

Warning: Spoilers
The ending makes me want to unseen the whole series like for real. It was enjoyable in the beginning but i expected more of the whole series.

How can you compare signing at a big record label to becoming a real gangmember?! What for messaged do you wanna give the viewer or the Youth of Brazile?!

Its Just not realistic like wouldn't you want to get out of the drug dealing world and find a other way to profite for your family?!

The nando guy almost was killed like 2 times and he saved himself by praying like how unrealistic is that?!

And for the Rita girl she became a member of this big church but the fall out of the lady of the local church was really strange for me. She was getting so pressed because Rita wanted to make the church more modern or whatever how can you get mad because of that?!

A great soap opera. I really like the characters and find the history close to the truth in brasil

Fernando was the best. The actor deserves his own serie

Excellent
manucbs-4657712 May 2020
When I started watching this show, I had a doubt as a preliminary feeling of where would the story line be headed to. But the events caught my attention very soon, and it turned out to be a surprising revelation. Being from São Paulo, I can testify that this city is the land of opportunities, with countless possibilities. But a land where you have to fight your way toward the "American Dream", it will be not be delivered to you on a tray. We follow three teenagers that choose distinct paths to reach their goals and ambitions, since going to college is not an available card on the table for them. The way their situation evolves is extremely thrilling, and not really predictable, as we often wandered what was going to happen in the most challenging moments. Trough shallow local dialogs, powerful messages are exchanged, and a simple mistake can be fatal, yet youth perseveres. Of course people not familiar with Portuguese may loose part of the show, as slangs are hard to be translated from a language to another, but I believe it's definitely worth a try for people interested in learning what life can be in a city like São Paulo, with 12 millions inhabitants and hundreds of favelas. A think the junior actors did a very good job, they all carry their personal form of charisma and values, often twisted by the circumstances an the context of their ongoing life.

Getting better and better
blackpeters31 October 2021
Have just finished season 2 in one go and the best so far. However 6 episodes are not enough considering the gap between the 2 seasons. Excellent ending in the finale.

I pray that Netflix don't cancel the 3rd season and we don't have to wait as long.

This is coming from a none Portugese speaker who watches with the subtitles and audio on.

I couldn't ask for more in a series
helenadacunhaneto6 June 2022
The storyline is so well written, the acting is amazing, and the music is super. I need this series to go on for as long as possible. I live here in the States and my mom has passed so I feel so torn away from my culture but this almost gives me a piece of what I'm missing. I grew up in the hood so this has that piece of it for me, the close family that'll always have your back, chasing your dreams and knowing it won't be but most of all hearing Portuguese spoken without it being in some cheesy romantic comedy (kinda all we get out here) is a present.

Best brazilian series.
larkin-5229819 September 2022
From all the Brazilian series i have watched this is the best one for me. To see the characters following their very different paths, but still connected is great, it never gets boring. The way the characters are written is amazing, but i feel that sometimes the actors can't deliver all the characters should have been. It seems chatacter development is the main point of the series and as it can do it pretty well, it's one i would recommend.

I think they could write more into the characters feelings sometimes, show their weak spots, things like that, it would be the 10 for me. Over all, great series.

amazing

For a Swedish raised ghetto boy who has been in the favela in Rio and seen these places it was a great series.

I was raised in similar circumstances but reached my dream while struggling with criminal powers untill one day I met Jesus and His Holy Spirit

Love. Friends becoming family. Struggling against criminality and fighting for a better tomorrow and dreams.

Surprisingly good acting and a loving message in how God changes our life and watches over us until we finally search for Him and eventually find Him resulting in harmony in this life and promise of a better next life.

Jesus saved me and these stories are real.
