After a blockbuster musical episode, “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” is closing out its second season in much more serious fashion. The sci-fi series’ season finale “Hegemony” will pit the crew of the USS Enterprise against a classic enemy of old. And in a first look at the finale, exclusively shared with IndieWire, it’s revealed that said enemy is one of the most dangerous in the “Star Trek” galaxy: the Gorn.
The Gorn, a race of hostile reptellian humanoid aliens, first appeared in “Arena,” one of the most iconic episodes of Gene Roddenberry’s science fiction series. In “Strange New Worlds,” the species appeared twice in the show’s first season: “Memento Mori,” where a Gorn military ship attacks the Enterprise, and “All Those Who Wonder,” where hatchlings from the species caused the death of Enterprise engineer Hemmer (Bruce Horak). The finale marks the first and only appearance of the species,...

Sci-fi will be center stage at South Korea’s Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, Asia’s largest genre film event. The ten-day film festival will run from Jun. 27 through Jul. 7.
Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner” inspired the festival’s official artwork this year. The film will also play in special program ‘Robots: Future Beyond the Human Race’ along with Steven Spielberg’s “A.I. Artificial Intelligence” and Fred M. Wilcox’s “Forbidden Planet.”
The festival opens, a few weeks earlier than its traditional mid-July slot, with the Asian premiere of Edgar Nito’s “The Gasoline Thieves.” Korean period mystery drama “The 12th Suspect” by Ko Myoung-sung will close the festival, which packs in 288 films from 49 countries.

Tagline: "Remember You Must Die." Memento Mori is an upcoming Dutch language film, from Belgium. The film was shot by short film director Michaël Vermaercke. Memento Mori is a object that represents death, often a skull. That skull can be seen in the film's concept poster, found here. As well, Memento Mori stars: Charlotte De Wulf (Café Derby), Felix Meyer ("Vermist") and Bram Verrecas. The film's Nsfw trailer is found here. And, Memento Mori is expected to release later this year, with help from sales agent Euro Obscura. Very much a psychological thriller, the film involves a series of flashbacks. A young girl is in a coma. She relives parts of the night, which put her in this dire state. After a series of memories are re-experienced, it soon becomes clear what happened to her, at an out-of-control pool party. Memento Mori is currently on a film festival run. This...
