Meghan McCain is stirring controversy and mockery over comments she made on The View over representation of minorities in workplaces, with many users citing nepotism as the reason she was hired at hers. On Wednesday, March 24, the daughter of late Republican senator and 2008 presidential candidate John McCain and the ABC talk show's conservative co-host spoke out about legal cases involving universities' usage of affirmative action in admissions as well as a provision of the recent $1.9 trillion Covid-19 relief package that benefits farmers of color who are socially disadvantaged, explaining that she was "concerned that women farmers were not included in the...

Democrats took control of the Senate for the first time since 2015, as Vice President Kamala Harris swore in her appointed successor, Alex Padilla, as well as Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, who won their races in Georgia this month.
“I need to catch my breath, so much is happening,” said Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-ny), who now is the new majority leader.
The Senate split is 50-50 now, but Democrats will have the edge because Harris has a tie-breaking vote. That might be needed, as President Joe Biden tries to usher through a series of legislative priorities, including a $1.9 trillion Covid relief package and immigration reform.
Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-vt) will be the president pro tem of the Senate, which is third in line for the presidency following the vice president and speaker of the House.

We knew Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album was going to be big. It is literally enormous, 30 tracks long, longer than the likes of Lil Baby’s My Turn and Lil Uzi Vert and Future’s Pluto x Baby Pluto, and just two tracks shorter than Lil Uzi Vert’s sprawling Eternal Atake. When he released “Somebody’s Problem,” “Still Goin Down,” and “Livin’ the Dream” in November, all three hit the Rs 100, and the double LP broke country records for Apple Music Pre-Adds week after week.

Refresh for latest…: Christopher Nolan’s Tenet dipped a slight 29% at the international box office this weekend to add $11.5M from 57 markets. Offshore, the Warner Bros release has now grossed $262M. When combined with domestic, the global total is $307M.
Overseas, Tenet numbers — while impacted by coronavirus restrictions — are solid given the ongoing situation. Holds were strong this session including the UK (-4%), Australia (-8%), Korea (-8%), Japan (-18%), Germany (-24%), France (-25%), Mexico (-26%) and Italy (-39%).
Then again, Tenet is the only major release in (any) town for a long while, and there is turmoil ahead for Hollywood in an ever-changing landscape.
Amid continued release date shifts by the studios and news Cineworld is considering the temporary closure of its UK and U.S. cinemas, it’s China box office that continues to thrive.

Sci-fi adventure Space Sweepers, Disney’s Mulan and Marvel title The New Mutants have all been pushed back.

Two days of previews for Warner Bros.’ much-anticipated “Tenet” showed a sign of promise over the weekend. But a rising tide of coronavirus infections is now crushing the life out of the South Korean box office.
Korea was the first place in the world to screen “Tenet” commercially. The Christopher Nolan-directed “Tenet” earned $368,000 on Saturday and a further $347,000 on Sunday from previews on some 590 screens. On both days it ranked second behind “Deliver Us From Evil,” a local hitman thriller in its third week of release, but with more than two times as many screens.
Over the three days from Friday to Sunday, “Deliver” earned $1.41 million for a cumulative score of $30.6 million. Korean comedy, “Ok! Madam” earned $812,000 for a two-week cumulative of $8.58 million, with “Tenet” third on $715,000.
But the box office careers of all titles now look to be affected as measures to control the latest virus resurgence take effect.
