Sex & Nudity

  • There is a "sex scene" between two teenagers (both are fully clothed). The scene cuts into 3 separate scenes of teenagers having sex. There is no nudity.
  • While a teenage girl is climbing a ladder, you can see up her skirt at her panties.
  • A girl says she is turned on after she puts on a plastic tiara.
  • The implied sex scene cuts before any nudity is shown. There are about 2 seconds where we hear moaning.
  • There is a brief scene where a young boy (a minor) attempts to feel the "breasts" of a possessed animatronic siren. The siren then asks the boy if he "wanna fuck?" The scene is played for laughs and no further interaction between the characters takes place.

Violence & Gore

  • In one scene, there is a very brief shot of gore, blink of an eye.
  • We see numerous people getting killed by animatronics, blood in each one, not strong.
  • This film has quite a bit of violence, but nothing really very strong.
  • The animatronics can be found creepy to young children.
  • Nic Cage goes into the bathrooms in one scene and finds "it's your birthday" written in blood on the mirror.
  • In the background of some scenes you can see blood.
  • A human is ripped in half. May be intense for some audience.
  • The film has one instance of gore but it is not noticeable unless you know when to pause the movie and look for it. (The gore is very hard to see though.)
  • Rated R for strong violence, language, sexuality and drug use.
  • There are tons of people attacked and/or killed by killer robots and vice versa. There's stabbings, people in a car lit on fire, a man is decapitated, a man's neck is snapped, a woman split in half, people eaten alive, blood shown in some scenes but it's a dark movie so it's not so visible. Many of the robots are killed in complete rage repeatedly as in overkill.
  • The "blood" of animatronics is actually OIL, but the movie makes it seem blood.
  • A boy's neck is snapped by the tongue of the chameleon animatronic.
  • An animatronic decapitates a person.
  • Children are seen getting killed by animatronics.
  • A car is set on fire and explodes, killing two people inside.
  • There is a flashback where a lil boy gets nibbled on by willy as a flashback, it could be a upsetting scene.

Profanity

  • There is a fair amount of profanity, "fuck" "shit" "asshole" "bitch" "hell" "bitch"
  • There's 10 uses of the F-word, 1 use of "prick," 2 uses of "pussy," and some uses of "shit," "hell," "sob", etc. There is also a use of the middle finger once.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Nicholas cage drinks soda, not beer. No alcohol content. Teens smoke weed, joke about being high. Character messages remarks about a his weed garden.
  • A couple of characters have cigars in their mouths throughout the movie but they are never lit. There is also a scene where one of the teenagers smokes some weed. There is another scene where a person is about to smoke a cigarette but it goes off screen before they do.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The animatronics can be found creepy or scary.
  • Some scenes are intense, with the animatronics trying to capture and kill people, not incredibly scary.
  • This film has some jump scares from animatronics.
  • The film can be very scary for younger viewers but for adults not really and it doesn't take itself seriously at all so it's rather cheesy and silly
  • (Deleted. Personal opinions about ratings are not appropriate for the Parents Guide.)
  • For some people it can be creepy/intense when the animatronics are chasing and killing people, but it isn't too bad.
  • Rated R for strong horror violence, bloody images, some sexual content and language throughout.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • In the film, Nicolas Cage battles numerous animatronics. Oil splatters as he hits the animatronics, for example when the ostrich animatronic is on the floor and Nick is beating him incessantly, oil splatters upward on each hit. The oil is a representation of blood.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In a flashback scene we find out that the restaurant was originally built by a group of insane murderers. This may be disturbing to some as they show some of the deaths, but the scene cuts before anyone gets murdered.
  • A girl witnesses her parents being killed by the animatronics.
