Maybe for some this is a slow moving series, but it's like reading a great Le Carre spy novel. Nothing is as it seems.
It has us hooked, so we are glad there is a season 2.

Addictive!

I saw this and saved it to watch later, with minimal interest. A friend said it was amazing so I started it that night. Season 1 was so good, I couldn't stop watching it. I watched the entire season in 2 evenings. I completely underestimated this show and now I can't wait to start season 2! It's gripping and captivating like The Missing (series) and The Killing. Highly recommend!
Why don't we have more shows like this?!

Boom! No 3-4 episodes of character development and mundane back stories. The first 5 minutes has you gripped. Did Stephen King write this? Outstanding casting; they nailed it. Pullman looks like an actor desperate for a role in the first half hour but like the best plots, he, Jessica and this insanely intelligent thriller unpeel like a French onion. Each layer better than the last. You really don't know what's coming next. Only the State detective stuck on to annoy Pullman is predictable, including their ultimate loss of face. So what. Bring on season 2!
Hooked!

Solid Beginning

This starts off with a real bang. The incredible tension that builds in the first few minutes is gut wrenching. There seems to be a family going on a vacation to Niagara Falls but the boy in the back is terrified. The two adults are incredibly tense. When their car breaks down they are forced to stay the night in a motel, but their lives are cut short, seemingly by the boy. When the inexperienced deputy begins to analyze things, she finds herself in over her head. She calls in an old friend of the family, Harry, who reluctantly goes back to the town where he was born. There is a real tension there as well. He begins to look into things and stays with an old friend, but even that is creepy. Of course, Harry is pretty weird himself.
Season 2 - save your time

Warning: Spoilers
This review is of the whole season, and its heart is two words:
Don't bother.
The plot throws out some interesting elements, none of which pays off. Trails are begun and dropped, pivotal characters appear and disappear, mysteries loom and vanish, expectations get raised and then forgotten.
The characters don't help much. Bill Pullman's bleary squinting unrelated expressions don't get funner to watch. But worst of all, the central character is a kid named Julian, and he is an unsympathetic, unlikable, uncompelling, annoying, obnoxious character.
The grand denouement is just a spit in the viewer's face and a "See you next season!"
Do not bother.

Season two starts out better, but then falls apart

Warning: Spoilers
The first season of this show, starring Jessica Biel, was boring beyond belief. Apparently, they learned their lesson. Season two is starting out much better. The first two episodes were fast paced, well written, and fascinating. I hope they can keep it up.
Updated after conclusion of season two: Ended up just terrible. Plot just fell apart. Nothing made sense, nothing related back to the murders, no satisfying conclusion at all. Don't even get started, because you will be disappointed in the end.

Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER ALERT........Right, I never leave reviews but I felt I had too after finishing this second season!
It was such a let down, I'd been really looking forward to this season because of how much I enjoyed the first, but Nothing made any sense, you can tell they tried too hard to fit in as many twists as possible....
None of the characters where likeable and do not get me started on the crappy ending... zero consequences for anyone, and nothing really got wrapped up, the couple trying to help basically get murdered for no reason!
I felt it started well but completely lost it's way, very very disappointed.
Technology sucks
