A movie which could have been a masterpiece
s-8191129 October 2019
The movie is awesome.Great acting, cinematography, music and story but the only problem I had is makeup. The actresses who portray women in their early sixties have such a bad make up that makes the movie a little less convincing

Agitating mindset answered with Exhilarating & Courageous Actions of "Shooter Dadi's" :)

Spoiler free Movie Review: Simply put the movie touches the subject of women's ambitions towards life. It unwraps the true story of how even in certain unfortunate situations, your Talent, Willingness and Courage will lead you into world of new possibilities.

The movie is complete package of entertainment but there are couple of scenes which strongly makes the audience feel to the core of their heart and enforces us towards improving certain social situaions / concerns around us.

Acting by everyone is upto the mark and full marks for their attempts to justify the roles.

Techincal Ratings (Out of 5): Story - 5 Acting - 4 Songs - 4 Direction/Cinematography - 4

Enjoy the movie, worth your time :)

Bullseye, Bingo!!
msunando28 October 2019
Saand Ki Aankh - amid all the Diwali festivities, make some time to watch this wonderful biopic that's not just about achievements but also about shattering stereotypes and social shackles.

The film is inspired by the lives of Chandro & Prakashi, two sexagenarian women married to two brothers from the Tomar family at the helm of which is Ratan Tomar, the sarpanch of the village. Played by Prakash Jha, the character of Ratan Tomar is a male chauvinist, regressive personality who believes that the women of the family strictly belong to the kitchen and for rearing of children. Such stifling is the environment in the household that the freedom of opinions itself is a far cry, leave aside women's empowerment and liberation. It feels like another place and another time centuries back and urban viewers may not even be able to associate with it. Saand Ki Aankh is the battle cry of Chandro and Prakashi against the regressive male supremacist attitude and their determination to beat the odds to prove that nothing is impossible to achieve.

Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu play the characters perhaps more than twice their age with aplomb. It's a testament to the fact that talent transcends the barrier of age, and the new generation of actors can compete shoulder to shoulder with their more experienced peers. Prakash Jha instills fear and hatred. Although a biopic, the film has an interesting pace that doesn't let the momentum flag. Debutante director Tushar Hiranandani infuses the narrative with enough poignancy and the right dose of emotions to ensure that the viewer sympathy continues to remain with the protagonists. The makeup of the two women could have been better perhaps, for at times they appear a little too sprightly and bright for their age.

Watch Saand Ki Aankh to be reminded that life's still quite tough for a lot of people, but then there are a few among them who are ready to catch the bull by the horn and hit the bullseye.

Best of 2019!
danishmay-4204012 January 2020
Simply amazing. Strong performances both by Bhumi and Tapsee. It shows how stingent the traditios were there back in those days and the hardships women faced. Strongly written, screenplay was fabulous so was the direction.

A strong recommendation to all. Watch it if you haven't till now.. Do not miss this one.

Average acting
abhishek-9040524 January 2020
The movie could have been much better if both the lead actors acted well. I don't know what went wrong, was it director's issue or the actors were not able to portray the characters as they portray other characters. The old age characters part played by both Taapsee and Bhumi seemed not good throughout the movie. It would have been better if they went for real life aged actors instead of going with the prosthetic approach to young actors. If the acting had been good the movie would have been really good as the story is good.

Not convincing
Prof_McGonagall7 January 2020
Most reviewers joined in Oct-19 so seems they are connected with film itself. Acting wise Tapsee was not convincing and looked pedestrian while Bhumi was average. Drama sequences seems forced one to create sense of pride. I wish they had made it more authentic with original storyline.

Poor casting and lack of method acting
robin-j-don30 October 2019
Casting should have been better, instead of taking two young models and making them look old, you could have taken talented grey haired actresses and they would have done a much better job, story is inspiring but bhoomi and tapsi are a bad choice for theater level acting and performance..... Great story and movie... But lagged tremendously in the genuinity of the real life characters....and really bored of seeing tapsee doing women centric roles from past 6 years.. In almost like all of the movies.. An actor should be versatile and provide the performance which the audience could appreciate and enjoy ..Just a honest opinion

Hit the Bull's Eye
pranayjalvi27 October 2019
This Taapsee and Bhumi starrer is an absolute pleasure to watch showcasing the strength of women and the way it is dealt with, on a daily basis in the mediocre mindset society. There were very few hiccups but overall, whether there should have been more reality in the story or whatever, the acting as well the storytelling was very good.

I will give 4.5/5

A movie with a good heart but no intention to respect the sports
khattar-194728 June 2020
It is a powerful movie portraying two older women picking up a sport just to help and make path for their granddaughters to shine in life. To do so, they don't just play the sport and they have to face deep rooted patriarchy right in their own yard. The movie attitude towards the sport was really hurtful. They are making a movie about shooting of stars of the nation but hardly a single rule of game has been followed. For the mere "over" dramatization and making it Bollywood, the filmmakers chooses not to include sportsmanship and the sport itself. But still a big shout out to bhumi and tapsee for amazing performances.

Hits the bull's eye.., Good Movie.
Tejas_Vinda_AITS22 October 2019
Movie is an inspiring story and great performances by Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar.

Film covers certain parts of the lives of India's oldest sharpshooters, Prakashi Tomar and Chandro Tomar, and leaves us with an inspiring message.

Bhumi and Taapsee are in great form as grandmothers, who are willing to do anything to inspire and help their granddaughters.

The two leading ladies carry the film on their shoulders effortlessly.

The film is n ode to women empowerment,, hits the bull's eye.

Worth a watch.

SOME SILVER, SOME GOLD BUT A WINNER AT THE END !
SAMTHEBESTEST21 October 2019
SAAND KI AANKH REVIEW :-

Saand Ki Aankh has been promising since the announcement and then Promos, songs and almost everything fall at right place. The excitement kept increasing day by day so does the hunger for content. Finally, it has been watched and Saand Ki Aankh as a story of Gold and Silver medals is some silver and some gold. It almost completes the expectations which were not high due to debutant director. Some high points should have been touched and this one would have been a different level film.

Saand Ki Aankh is inspired from the real life of Shooter Dadis Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar. These 2 have done some unreal stuff in real life and that makes Saand Ki Aankh script very strong on paper. The on paper strong script is powered by strong performances of Bhumi Pednekar amd Taapsee Pannu who portray Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar respectively. These 2 have totally overshadowed everything in this product with thier brilliant acting and awards shows next year should see thier names in nominations list. Prakash Jha, Vineet Kumar Singh and child actors have supported them very well. Music is Fantastic, 'Udta Teetar' works on high notes. Other songs are also good to decent and are survived by situational momentum.

Cinematography by Sudhakar Yenkatti is fine, he manages to capture the village, farm and rest nature scenes in eye pleasing mode. Screenplay is healthy but unfortunately lengthy. 150 minutes are too much for this script and it has so many dull moments where you feel like, it should end soon so that we can see what happens next. That eagerness turns into hectic sometimes. Director Tushar Hiranandani debuts with a good script and he has done everything what he could on his level. He did some mistakes, left some plot holes, he could have used real footage from channels and media at the end which glorifies Shooter dadis and certainly it would have left more impact.

Overall, Saand Ki Aankh is an Inspirational story which pokes a fingure on Men dominated society in rural parts of india. It should inspire some Girls and woman to do something in thier lives fighting all the odds. It hits the Bull's eye at some occasions, it misses at some occasions. It is still a Good and Watchable film for families and you will take something home, even though the cinematic presentation could have been little better. Like i said earlier, it is some silver, some gold but a Medal Winner at the end.

This got 10 rating before 3 days of release.
srivastava-ritesh5525 October 2019
Honestly story was good obviously it should be because it is made on real life of 2brave women. But the acting is not in the range what script was demanded. Everywhere fake accent, and fake behaviour made it worst. It was overacted from both girls. Shoul Should not recommend to watch.
