After slapping away a hand he thought belonged to a rival’s fan, Auburn basketballer Johni Broome realized he had to get right with God — aka actor Morgan Freeman, who memorably played the deity in the film Bruce Almighty.
Broome tried to save a ball from going out of bounds in the second half of Auburn’s game against Ole Miss when someone in the front row grabbed his jersey.
Thinking it was an Ole Miss fan trying to rattle him, Broome brushed the person’s arm away.
Broome turned and quickly realized it was Freeman, the Academy Award-winning actor who is a big Mississippi fan and attends many Rebels games.
“I kind of got his hand off,” Broome later told reporters. “I saw who it was and I’m a big movie guy. I probably watched one of his movies on the plane coming here.

Grand Admiral Thrawn is poised to be the next big villain in the "Star Wars" franchise. The classic character created by author Timothy Zahn in the '90s finally made his live-action debut last year in the first season of "Ahsoka." But that was just the beginning. The end of the season set up Thrawn as a major threat who will undoubtedly return in the show's second season, if not on the big screen as well in the coming years (more on that in a moment). Now, Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni has shed some light on what might be in store for Thrawn in the future. Or, more specifically, who might be in store for the blue-skinned expert tactician.
Filoni, who is the main creative force behind "Ahoska" as well as animated shows like "The Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels," recently spoke with Empire about Thrawn's future.

It seems Paramount and Nickelodeon have got a fever, and the only prescription is more "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." Ahead of the August 2, 2023 theatrical release date of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem," Variety reports that a sequel is already in development. This isn't surprising, considering the film ends with a big tease, and considering that it is one of the best animated movies of the year. Director Jeff Rowe and the team at Mikros Animation deliver a visually stunning film that delivers rebellious teen attitude, while a script by Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, as well as Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, reinvents the iconic characters by focusing on them being actual teens discovering their place in the world.
Perhaps more surprisingly (albeit equally as inevitable) is the news that a TV spin-off of "Mutant Mayhem" is now in development for Paramount+, titled "Tales of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Everyone's infatuated with Baby Yoda, aka Grogu, the tiny alien creature who's being raised by "The Mandalorian"'s title hero, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal). And that includes the toddler daughter of Katee Sackhoff, who plays Bo-Katan on the show (and in the "Clone Wars" and "Rebels" animated series). Sackhoff talks to Popsugar about her daughter's over-the-top love of Grogu, working with Pascal, and Bo-Katan's journey in season three.
Sackhoff shares 15-month-old Ginevra Grace with her husband, Robin Gadsby. She's a little young to start her official Star Wars viewing journey, but Sackhoff plans to show her the very first movie when she can. "But at the same time, I think she's going to watch this show. She's already obsessed with Baby Yoda," she explains. "She has a little Star Wars pop-up book because I was like, 'Well, I should start her.' So she flips through the card book, and she loves it.

The campaign to get Ahsoka Tano in live-action has reached fever pitch of late. Following The Clone Wars heroine making a vocal cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, with voice actress Ashley Eckstein reprising her role, fans are calling for this first gig in the movies to lead to a major part in future live-action Star Wars media. And one actress who’s always had her eye on playing the character is once again making it known that she’s available.
To begin with, Emergency Awesome’s Charlie Schneider pointed out on Twitter that Ahsoka would be in her 40s during the events of Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian, the same age as Rosario Dawson is now. The actress herself then retweeted the post and made clear that she definitely agrees and wants fans to pester Lucasfilm on her behalf. “Tell ’em!” the Luke Cage and Zombieland: Double Tap star wrote,...

(This article describes parts of the ending of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.” So, yes, that means major spoilers are ahead.)
There’s a lot of baggage that comes with trying to make a movie that serves as a climax of a nine-movie saga, and so “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” had a lot of obligations to fulfill. And we figured that one of those obligations that it would fulfill was to feature some cameos from past characters in the franchise. And at the end of the movie we were delivered a bulk order of cameos, including some from the animated TV series “Rebels” and “Clone Wars.”
So in the climactic battle, Rey’s been knocked flat on her back, Palpatine having sucked the life force or something out of her and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). Earlier, Palpatine had bragged that the spirits of all the Sith lords...

Star Wars Rebels wrapped up after four acclaimed seasons back in early 2018, but it’s possible that the story could be continued in a new show on Disney Plus. Similar to how the streaming service is bringing back Rebels‘ predecessor The Clone Wars for a seventh season this year, word is now circulating that there are plans afoot to create a sequel series to Rebels that will follow what happens next for at least two of its characters.
YouTube channel First Order Transmissions reports that the follow-up series is in active development and is set to arrive on Disney Plus as soon as fall 2020. In terms of story details, the Rebels sequel will star Ahsoka Tano, the former Jedi Padawan who debuted in Clone Wars, and Mandalorian heroine Sabine Wren. The Mandalorian season 1 finale introduced a major artifact from Star Wars lore into the show, which created a way for an iconic villain to return in the second season of the Disney Plus series. As fans will know, this artifact is the Darksaber, which was previously wielded by Darth Maul in The Clone Wars and Rebels animated series. So, does this mean Maul could return in the next run? Maybe, and both the character’s physical performer and voice actor might just be teasing it.
First of all, Ray Park – who first embodied the Sith apprentice in The Phantom Menace – shared a snap of himself in full Maul get-up on Instagram. ‘”Meet me on Dathomir” Sith Life!’ reads his caption, referencing the villain’s words to Qi’Ra in his shocking cameo in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

‘Star Wars’ Writer Chris Terrio on Rey’s Parentage, the Big Villain, and That Final Scene — Spoilers
[Editor’s note: The following post contains extensive spoilers for “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”]
It all ends here. After nine films and over four decades, the Skywalker Saga has come to a close with J.J. Abrams’ second “Star Wars” outing, “The Rise of Skywalker.” The final film in the newest trilogy doesn’t just conclude (for now) the adventures of Rey (Daisy Ridley), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe (Oscar Isaac), it also shuts the door on a beloved franchise that first kicked off with 1977’s revelatory “A New Hope.”
For a final film, “The Rise of Skywalker” is packed with far more than just loose-end tying-up, rolling out a number of new characters and plots to push through before a final, genuinely tearjerking scene. By now, audiences surely know this much: that the film includes the return of a major villain, that it puts to bed years of speculation about Rey’s parentage, and it resets much of what...

The climax of Star Wars: The Last Jedi brought the moment fans had spent two movies and a quarter of a century waiting to see: Luke Skywalker as an all-powerful Jedi master. The appearance was revealed as a Force Projection, the energy expenditure of which resulted in his death. And how he achieved it and why it killed him has now been officially explained.
In the climax, Luke faces down Kylo Ren and the might of the First Order, knowing that such a challenge would be impossible for Darth Emo and his whining petulance to resist, thus buying time for the Resistance to escape and giving rise to the now-iconic image of him flicking away an imaginary speck of dust from his shoulder in a perfect display of abject contempt for his enemies. The appeal of a live action Star Wars TV show, even one whose first season run-time will barely cross the four-hour mark, can not be understated. Speculation is rife surrounding who’ll appear in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. As the capstone of a saga spanning over four decades, it’s natural to think and hope that some of the iconic characters to have made the series what it is can be featured in some way, and word has now come through that we can expect cameo appearances from several familiar names.
Of course, the most popular talking point is whether or not Anakin will make an appearance. After all, he was the one with whom the Skywalker saga began, so it would only seem fitting if he were somehow involved in its conclusion, despite having been dead for over thirty years. Now, some sources of fan site Making Star Wars who’ve seen the film have confirmed that Anakin is indeed involved in the story, while others who’ve listened to the sound mix...

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker isn’t just the last third of the Sequel Trilogy, but it also marks the final chapter of what we’re now calling the Skywalker saga. J.J. Abrams has a big job on his hands here, too, as he has to tie up the entirety of the franchise to date with a neat bow. Given that, there’s been a lot of speculation that some key characters from across the past nine movies will cameo in Episode IX. And new leaks have now surfaced which seemingly support this.

Batuu's spaceport, Black Spire Outpost, buzzes with activity. In the story, it has only been a month since the Resistance arrived on the distant planet, but two weeks since the First Order showed up. There are also scoundrels all about that see opportunity in the chaos, as the First Order hunts the Resistance, who are camped out in ruins outside of town.

The Star Wars franchise is expanding in new and exciting ways over the next few years. The advent of Disney Plus gives the universe room to explore more than what we’ve seen in the films and live-action TV series are now also a thing, what with The Mandalorian and the Obi-Wan Kenobi show. All this is to say can we finally have Ahsoka Tano in live-action now? Please, Lucasfilm?
Though we’re still waiting for official confirmation on whether this is going to happen, her co-creator Dave Filoni had a very intriguing response when asked about the chances of it at D23 over the weekend. The Clone Wars and Rebels showrunner was pitched the idea of Ahsoka being realized in the flesh and after giggling to himself, he replied: “Yeah, you know, never say never.”
Dave Filoni’s reaction to being asked if Ahsoka could go live-action is pretty interesting #StarWars pic.

Darth Maul made his first appearance in the live-action Star Wars universe in nearly 20 years in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, but his cameo didn’t lead to a bigger role in the sequel as anticipated due to the movie’s surprising underperformance. Hope for fans of the Dathomirian sprung up again recently, however, with the announcement of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series heading to Disney Plus.
We Got This Covered has previously heard that Maul would appear in the Ewan McGregor-starring show, but it now seems like there’ll be even more of the villain coming up. That’s because our latest intel says that Lucasfilm is developing an entire series revolving around Maul for the Disney streaming service. We’re pretty confident about this information, too, as it comes to us via the same source who told that the Obi-Wan show was happening back in May, well before it was officially announced.

After years of rumors, a Star Wars return for Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi is finally in the offing, in the form of a Disney Plus TV series. That’s pretty much all we know for now, but it’s widely assumed that the show will take place in between Obi-Wan’s self-imposed hermitude on Tatooine in Revenge of the Sith and his final confrontation with Darth Vader in A New Hope. This is a well-storied period of the Sw universe, so there are numerous other familiar characters who could turn up. Not least his old enemy, Darth Maul. But how likely is this?
Well, Lucasfilm definitely did have plans to do more with Maul in live-action again, as his shock cameo in Solo was clearly intended to set up a larger role for him in the sequel. As this probably isn’t happening anytime soon, they could shunt the...

Disney Channel has released a new trailer for the second season of Lucasfilm’s animated series Star Wars: Resistance, and it looks like fun. I hope that it ends up being better than Season 1. While I enjoyed Clone Wars and Rebels, the first season of Resistance just didn’t click for me.
The animation and the style of the series is cool, but the story just didn’t grab me. Season 2 will actually end up being the final season of the series, so I’ll still watch it until the end to see how it comes to a close.
It’s explained that the “concluding season takes place during the events of The Last Jedi leading up to The Rise of Skywalker, as Kaz and the team continue to fight against the threat of the First Order, culminating in an epic series finale.” The trailer also reveals that Kylo Ren...

The Mouse House launches its Disney Plus streaming service this November, offering arguably the biggest rival to Netflix’s dominance in the field to date. Much has been discussed about Disney’s original content coming to the platform, such as The Mandalorian, the first ever live-action Star Wars show, and all those Marvel series that will fit into the McU. What’s not to be overlooked, though, is the huge back catalogue of titles that the studio has ready to go on the site from day one.
Focusing on their TV output, Disney has a range of shows set to drop on the service, including nostalgic Disney Channel classics, popular modern series and big-hitters they’ve just got from Fox, thanks to their historic merger. Here’s the full list of every TV show that’ll be available on Disney Plus from its launch. No doubt many more will make...

Thrawn: Treason, the latest Thrawn novel from his original creator Timothy Zahn, is not a standalone novel, and it hopes readers already know Rogue One, Rebels, and especially Eli Vanto, the translator-turned-strategic protege Thrawn took on in the earlier novels in this canon series. Overall, Treason is a solidly constructed story that includes a lot of almost-explored threads worthy of their own novels.

As we all know, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will bring to an end the legendary saga George Lucas set off in 1977. In the four decades since its creation, fans have reveled in technological innovation, gifted storytelling, and brilliantly memorable characters – many of whom we’ve had to learn to say goodbye to.
J.J. Abrams, the director behind the highly-anticipated finale, has seemed to make it his purpose to make the Star Wars community proud – especially when it comes to paying homage to the past films. So far, we already know that two icons from the Original Trilogy – Billy Dee Williams’ Lando Calrissian, and Ian McDiarmid’s eerie Emperor Palpatine – will be making their big screen returns, and Luke Skywalker, who’d died in 2017’s The Last Jedi, will also be coming back as a Force ghost.

The upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and its surrounding media looks set to reveal many of the franchise’s mysteries, from Rey’s parents and Skywalker lineage, through to the backstory behind Snoke and other characters. A new theory though says that Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi could be returning for the latest Star Wars movie, albeit most likely in a cameo appearance.
The most obvious reason why Obi-Wan could be making a comeback is the tradition of Force Ghosts in the series. In previous movies, we’ve seen Anakin (with multiple actors), the older Alec Guinness Obi-Wan, and others appear in different guises. However, one fan has suggested a more novel explanation for Obi-Wan being part of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, whereby:
“I was thinking to an episode of Rebels where Ahsoka and Ezra are watching an Anakin technique tutorial with a Holocron. And I...

There's a good reason that CBS All-Access is exploring another Star Trek animated series outside of its streaming platform and beyond Lower Decks, which is coming from Rick and Morty writer Mike McMahan.
This other Star Trek cartoon will be for Nickelodeon, targeting younger viewers, and current Trek franchise overlord Alex Kurtzman has been chatting about how he approached plans for the expansion of Gene Roddenberry's universe for a new era of fans. These plans are set to play out over a decade, but also inspire a generation of Trekkies in the making.
"I went to CBS and I said, 'I think you have a universe here that is very underutilized, and a fan base that I think is hungry for a lot more.'" Kurtzman told Deadline's Crew Call podcast.

Solo: A Star Wars Story unfortunately went down as the first real flop in the franchise. However, it still has a lot of fans out there who are calling for it to get a sequel. Lucasfilm is unlikely to keep going with the series on the big screen though after it struggled at the box office, but there’s so much story potential set up in that film that they’d be foolish to waste it. Thankfully, we’re hearing that there are plans to make a sort of Solo sequel, just in a way fans wouldn’t expect.
As We Got This Covered has previously reported, Lucasfilm is working on an Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show for Disney Plus, with Ewan McGregor likely to reprise his role as the hermit Jedi knight. Interestingly, our source is now telling us that the studio will fold a couple of key characters from Solo into the series.

Saw Gerrera will reappear in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, but where does the game fit in his story?

EA showed the first gameplay footage from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order at E3 2019, and it looked like a pretty fun experience. But the main takeaway for eagle-eyed Star Wars fans is that Saw Gerrera, the character played by Forest Whitaker in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will appear in the game.

Darth Maul has to be one of the best-designed creations in the whole Star Wars franchise. The character’s unique look is a large part of why he made such an impact on fans, despite being killed off in The Phantom Menace, with his popularity such that he later played a major role in The Clone Wars and Rebels animated series as well as having a surprise cameo in Solo. Who knows what would have happened if the original design for the villain had been used, though.
StarWars.com has shared an extensive oral history of the franchise, which includes comments from concept artist Iain McCaig. He recalled that Maul was described in the script for Episode I as “a vision from your worst nightmare” and McCaig drew from his own fears as he came up with how Maul should look. The result was something so disturbing that George Lucas was horror-stricken upon seeing it.

If you’re a fan of Star Wars I’ve got an awesome treat for you today! YouTube user and Star Wars fan FXitinPost has reimagined the climatic lightsaber duel between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi in A New Hope.
When I started watching this I had no idea what to expect, but as it played it ended up turning out to seriously be one of the greatest fan-made Star Wars videos that has been made. What this fan accomplished is incredibly stunning!
It really does a great job of building the emotion up between these two legendary Star Wars characters as they battle each other. On top of that, the fight sequence and the way it plays out within the original shots of the film is pretty spectacular. After I watched it, it left me in awe.
Had audiences seen this duel play out like this in 1977, it would have melted brains.

Chris Avellone has been responsible for some of the most highly regarded writing in RPGs in gaming history. He’s credited with classics like Planescape: Torment, the Fallout series, the criminally underrated Alpha Protocol and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords. That last one might be iffy in terms of gameplay, but fans unanimously praise the layered and complex way it approached morality in the Star Wars universe. That’s why when it was announced that Avellone would be working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, people sat up and took note.
The game will follow a young Jedi in hiding after the events of Revenge of the Sith, with the trailer showing how difficult it is for him to keep a low profile. It’s the first dedicated single-player adventure that EA has delivered since they acquired the license and understandably, expectations are high.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order stars a new villain originally introduced in the comics. Here's what you need to know about the Second Sister!
This Star Wars article contains spoilers.
The masked juggernaut of a villain in Jedi: Fallen Order has a look which may be familiar to fans of Star Wars comics. She’s the Second Sister, one of the Inquisitors tasked with hunting down surviving Jedi in the days after the Emperor initiated Order 66.
Her first appearance in Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith #19 by Charles Soule and Giuseppe Camuncoli introduced the Second Sister to the order of Jedi hunters already established by the Rebels animated series. While comic heavily focuses on the genesis of Darth Vader and his castle on Mustafar, we also get to see the early days of the Inquisitorius as well as a mission in which the Inquisitors steal a Force-sensitive child.

One of the biggest surprises that came from the first trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – other than that title, of course – was the reveal that Ian McDiarmid is set to return as Emperor Palpatine. Just as Luke was heard to say that “no one’s ever really gone,” the terrifying cackle of Darth Sidious was heard over a black screen.
Seeing as we last saw him being thrown to his death by Vader back in 1983’s Return of the Jedi, fans are simultaneously excited and confused by his reappearance. Interestingly, though, the manner of his return may have been set-up in another piece of Star Wars canon from another medium: Disney Xd’s Star Wars Rebels animated series.
The show was never afraid of making its own additions to the mythology and one of its final episodes before its fourth and final season came to a close...

Even before Disney began their renewed Star Wars franchise earlier this decade, fans were already incensed by the decision to wipe the Expanded Universe from continuity, instead labelling the years’ worth of books, comics, video games, etc. as “Legends.” At least many of the concepts and characters have made their way back into the canon though, courtesy of the likes of Solo and Star Wars Rebels.
Lucasfilm might be looking to go even further, however, and draw from the Legends to create new Star Wars projects. Dave Filoni, exec producer and director of both The Clone Wars and Rebels, created Resistance. In true Filoni fashion, the series has its own unique art style. Resistance is "anime-inspired."

Dave Filoni, exec producer and director of both The Clone Wars and Rebels, created Resistance. In true Filoni fashion, the series has its own unique art style. Resistance is "anime-inspired."
