A good attempt
AVeryLollywoodPerson5 September 2018
Acting by Hamza Ali Abbasi, Hania Amir and Ahad Raza Mir along with the other cast members was good. This was the first movie in the history of Pakistani cinema which depicted the "personal" lives of air force pilots which is great. The story was good as well. However, the movie lacked good direction and cinematography but, it is okay considering the budget of the movie. The wedding song in the movie was very bad. Will give it 7/10 for great acting by the cast.

Highly recommended

A very well directed movie with a balanced blend of military academy life, love story and life's bitter facts....

the acting is superb and the lead and supporting actors do justice to their roles...

the songs are just perfect, neither too much nor too less with wonderful compositions...

the cinematography and the CGI effects are also commendable...

Well executed, except for the CGI.
awarajk22 August 2018
In terms of the story and transitioning, it had good turning points and plot twists, which are rare in movies now a days. A couple of scenes had bad CGI, but that is excusable, due to their low budget. It feels like you're watching 'Yalgaar'. However, after the ending, you'll realize that this movie is totally different.

Review by Zahra Mirza from Reviewit.pk

Parwaaz Hai Junoon - written by Farhat Ishtiaq, directed by Haseeb Hassan & produced by Momina Duraid is a Pakistani film released on Eid ul Azha & it is definitely a must-watch because right from the beginning, it just grabs your attention & each & every frame tells a tale of the hard work that has gone into making this movie what it is.

Parwaaz Hai Junoon is a story revolving around the lives of Pakistani Air Force Cadets & Pilots. The movie shows all the phases that one goes through in order to serve their country; from having a dream in their eyes to join the Air Force, to perseverance shown through the course of their training, to the time when the Country needs their services, alongside their personal lives where they are just regular people experiencing all kinds of emotions. The movie has a perfect blend of everything; there's comedy, there's romance, there's drama & then such moments where you are left teary eyed because you have formed this connection with all the characters that they affect you on an emotional level. Parwaaz Hai Junoon highlights how everyone associated with Air Force is not only a fighter by profession, but is a fighter & a go-getter in every aspect of life - that is why all the characters have one thing in common & that is competitiveness. I must say what I liked the most about Parwaaz Hai Junoon is that it doesn't portray everyone as a robotic hero, they all are shown as human beings who have their strengths & weaknesses, which makes it all quite realistic.

The story keeps on shifting between the past & the present, which some viewers might find confusing at first but it later makes sense & everything falls into place. Sania (Hania Amir) & Hamza (Hamza Ali Abbasi) are the lead characters with the entire movie based on their journey; together & on their own as well. Nadir (Shaz Khan), Saad (Ahad Raza Mir), Zaid (Syed Shafat Ali) & Rashid Minhas are the supporting characters who also have a very strong role to play. The cast also includes actors like Rasheed Naz, Asif Raza Mir, Hina Bayat, Marina Khan, Kubra Khan, Shamoon Abbasi, Adnan Jaffar, Farhaan Ali Agha, Danyal Raheel & Mustafa Changezi & each one of them have played their roles to perfection. It is worth mentioning how fit & schmick everyone looked & how they all paid attention to the body language, fitting the characters they were assigned to portray.

The songs are really nice & have been picturized beautifully too but I feel they could have cut down on a couple of them to show us a bit more of their lives as Cadets in training. My favorite has to be the Qawwali because the scenario that it was used for struck a chord even more because of that. A good part of the movie is dedicated to personal lives of Hamza, Sania & Nadir that at times I felt I wanted to see more of what was happening in the Air Force Academy. It won't be wrong to say that Parwaaz Hai Junoon can also be classified as a love story but yes, when the movie ends, you totally come out feeling satisfied with the message conveyed loud & clear that the love for Pakistan overruled everything for all the characters. It has been reinforced repeatedly that for men serving their country, nothing else matters more than Pakistan. Operation Zarb e Azb has also been touched upon & the way the Cadets are trained to become GD Pilots has been shown convincingly as well but I wish this part was elaborated further because it was done so so well & was quite interesting to watch!

The movie is visually appeasing & aesthetically sound with the director doing complete justice to the beauty of Pakistan. Every single frame is awe-inspiring & I must say, the opening sequence along with all the other flying sequences were brilliantly done. Special effects & graphics were totally impressive. I must say I am impressed that in a span of 2 hours 10 minutes, they managed to show so much & gave coverage to each & every character that you don't feel anything was missed out.

I highly recommend Parwaaz Hai Junoon & I must say, Hamza Ali Abbasi has found a new fan in me. He surely has carried the movie on his shoulders & Hania Amir proved that she was a right bet for playing such a huge role because she was phenomenal & has a strong screen presence. The chemistry between the characters is amazing too. Shaz Khan & Ahad Raza Mir were brilliant. Kubra Khan didn't have much role to play & I feel any other actress could have done that character just fine. Syed Shafaat Ali was phenomenal & he perfectly provided that comic quotient which was needed in the film. Haseeb Hassan deserves a special mention because without his vision, Parwaaz Hai Junoon wouldn't have been this good. Camera work, direction, angles & different shots contributed a lot in setting the mood of the film right.

If you want to enjoy this movie completely, I will suggest going without expecting anything & it will surely surprise you. I really didn't have anything on my mind & I took the movie as it came & ended up enjoying it a lot. For me, a blend of everything works & because the movie started on a lighter note & then got intense, it ended up being a complete package. I won't give anything away but I will say, my favorite character has to be of Sherbatgul & to find out who he/she is, you will have to watch Parwaaz Hai Junoon yourself!

Keep Supporting, Cheers, Zahra Mirza.

some weak points but definitely A MUST WATCH
haajramumtaz23 August 2018
Parwaaz hai junoon has just been released with 2 other major movies however I believe it has a different story line and involves all emotions and all aspects of an average air force pilot. The film focuses on their love for the nation while also having a much more human side to them. It shows their loyalty and leaves you in tears. However I believe their were quite some areas where the scene could be improved drastically just by having better dialogues and a slightly more compact script. The choice for the actors was brilliant especially Hamza Ali abbasi and Shaz Khan. It has beautiful cinematic shots and involves real challenges faced by a true Air force pilot. The dialogues however we're weak but the way the actors dilevered them looked completely natural and with such a low budget hatsoff to the team for one of the finest movies I've seen in a long time. I suggest everyone should go and watch it and learn the importance of our army.

Full of different emotions along with various flaws
hassanalinaqvi26 August 2018
The movie has wide range of emotions to experience flowing through it while it has some mild to major flaws. It looked like it was inspired from an 1986 action/drama Hollywood film 'Top Gun' and various scenes in Parwaz hai junoon were unnecessary. The CGI was dumb but some aerial views of fighter jets were thrilling. Overall the story was okay but the main plot could have been better.

I think it's the 1st Pakistani film I saw. Happened to be at the London premier, cos I was a friend of a friend... And it was Good! Great story line, full of surprises, inspiration and heart! Kudos to the team, and wish you guys all the best. Sri Lankans, and any country with fighters on the front lines need to see this. And it showcases women in the region!

Good movie but extremely over overrated
islam_the_truth27 August 2018
This is my first review on imdb. I was not expecting that this movie will be different from traditional Pakistani movies but the fact is that it's still an average movie but unfortunately is being overrated on internet.

Cinematography is the best thing about this movie. There are plenty of outstanding scenes in movie showing the beauty of Pakistan. CGI graphics is also good (not best). This makes this movie different from other Pakistani movies.

Acting is also good specially Hania Amir performance is phenomenal. Not only she look gorgeous she also has done justice with her role.

Movie script is ok and most of the part of it was predictable. However movie has emotional touch which will wet your eyes.

Worst things about movie are dialogues (specially romantic and during war) and the war scenes. You'll not be able to identify who is killing whom with pathetic dialogues you have ever heard in any movie.

Weak story line; disappointed
umairjalil27 August 2018
Displays Pak airforce just as a tool to take out terrorists on ground. Very weak storyline.

Would not recommend anyone waste time and energy watching this. Disappointed with Momina Duraid on aligning herself on this very weak plot.

Apart from Hamza's poor acting, the movie had an excellent cinematography. Script could have been polished a lot more. Albeit, it was a decent watch.

Good hand at igniting patriotism
hamzabkhalid26 August 2018
Since the revival of Pakistani cinema industry, there have been quite a few films aimed at lifes of armed force officers. Eid Ul Azha 2018 release 'Parwaaz Hai Junoon' aims to shed light on the lives of Air Force officers but does it succeed? Lets find out. Parwaaz Hai Junoon revolves around the lives of Pakistani Air Force Cadets and Pilots. The hardships one goes through in order to serve their country and entangling their personal lives along the way. The main storyline is based on Sania (Hania Amir) and Hamza (Hamza Ali Abbasi). Their journey together and individually as armed forces members and the strains they face. The parallel story line sees Saad (Ahad Raza Mir) and Sania as cadets enrolled who deal with harsh training methods, while creating an able friendship bond. The film goes back and forth between these timelines and finally converges to its outcome. Nadir (Shaz Khan) and Zaid (Syed Shafat Ali) provide a strong supporting role in each timeline. Director Haseeb Hassan keeps the audience engaged through the impressive and hard hitting scenes. He has the right vision and heart for PHJ but the script holds him back from making a truly impactful film. The story from Farhat Ishtaq has honest intentions but tries its hand at too many things by capturing romance, action, friendship, comedy and patriotism in one go. Thus leading to the major flaw of PHJ. Nonetheless the film is shot beautifully and on a grand scale. Cinematography and CGI are breathtaking considering our industry. The stunts using PAF fighter jets are amazing and the film manages to highlight military perfectly. The music provides good support to the narrative, from which the Atif Aslam song stands out. And the background music gives a tide to the emotional setting. As far as acting is concerned Hamza Ali Abbasi is the main lead and he is perfectly cast as the patriotic pilot. His dialogues are sure to bring the nationalist out of everyone in cinema halls. Hania Aamir after impressing in a couple of films is the female lead. She has contrasting roles in both timelines and gives it her all. She has a bright future ahead. Ahad Raza Mir tries his best but his shoddy character writing does not help him leave a mark. Syed Shafat Ali provides repetitive comic relief. The cast also includes actors like Rasheed Naz, Asif Raza Mir, Marina Khan, Kubra Khan and each one of them have an extended guest appearance which leaves a mark. On the whole PHJ underlines what everyone affiliated with Air Force goes through. The sacrifices they make personally and what serving for your country truly means. It shows that even the strongest of personalities are human beings after all thus giving a realistic feel overall. The movie has a perfect blend of everything; there's comedy, there's romance, there's drama & then such moments where you are left teary eyed because you have formed this connection with all the characters that they affect you on an emotional level.
