Thank God for Spader
estenpet21 March 2018
Just to be brief: we watch the show because of James Spader. The stories themselves are attractive and sometimes even out there. What we feel lets the show down is Megan Boone though. Not only her written character is ridiculous but her acting is actually really bad and she is not the best fit for the role. Don't know who casted her, but in the 5 years the show is running, she is one of the actors that did not grow much in performance. So thank God for Spader and actually most of the cast and writers. It is a good enjoyable hour watching, but Boone's performance is worse than having all my teeth pulled (Marathon Man style I might add)..

Unsatisfying

Of course we are going to be continually kept in the dark about those damned bones. I can't imagine their ultimate discovery will be satisfying enough to merit all their attention. This starts off with Elizabeth's usual manic search for Tom's killer. She can't do anything legally because she has no badge but she is seeing a therapist (that woman). In order to keep her under wraps she is assigned a serial killer called The Capricorn Killer. I won't go into graphic details about this guy. Meanwhile, a witness against Tom's killer is brought in but things go sour. Reddington meets the guy but only holds him until he needs him. He has access to those bones. We also have a new example of evil and, of course, Elizabeth, always the lone wolf, hooks up with this person.

That was simply terrible. Cliché after cliché. I thought there was no way they could rope in the psychiatrist as a 'bad guy'. It was just too obvious. But hey ho...they did. Then bad decision followed bad decision and bad plotting followed bad plotting. If I had written this muck in high school it would have been a D. Just Awful.

Great show! Need better research on details

This is one of my favorite shows. The Capricorn Killer episode was one of the better ones. However, the error at the very beginning annoyed me just a little. Huntingdon,Pa is in South Central Pa and Bradford is nowhere near it. Exactly why would the Bradford PD get the call about the body?

A pinnacle of bad writing, and directing.

I Consider myself a fan of the Black list, but the Capricorn killer has to to be one of the worst episodes of not only season 5 Burley the entire series. The acting was poorly directed, and as such came across as somehow both wooden and buffoonish, characters were portrayed as nothing more than woefully out dated stereotypes. The writing was dirvitive, lacking of any intelligence or apparent skill. I found myself having to stop myself from fast forwarding though sections to avoid the utter ridiculousness of this episode, if you can get the basic cliff notes of the episode I recommend skipping it completely.
