See was a very entertaining sci-if series led by Jason Momoa. I have to admit that when I first read the premise about a world full of blind people at war with one another I didn't think I would like it. Then after seeing the trailers and that Momoa was in it my expectations rose. Well, after finishing the series I can say that those expectations weren't on,y met but were exceeded. I couldn't stop watching this. Sure some if it is unbelievable but it's sci-fi, it's suppose to be. Bautista was also a great addition to the cast in the second season. He was perfect in his role as Momoa's brother. It's too bad that it was only three seasons long but they couldn't really go anywhere else with the story without overstaying its welcome. At least it didn't end on a cliffhanger. Bottom line is I really liked the show overall and recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy, sci-fi or action.

Great series, it stopped at the right time too

See is really an awesome series, led by great acting, interesting characters and interesting world, even if this last aspect could've been more developed.
It has 3 seasons. The first two are absolute gems, especially the second one, with great character building, awesome acting (to the point if you wonder if Jason Momoa even acts or that's just, like, him) and great villains (evil Queen is about the most despicable character in tv history, along with Geoffrey Baratheon).
The show finds perfect balance between adventure, impossible odds in a very hostile world, and the equality immense love and strength that you can find in a nuclear family (parents & children), a strength that can overcome everything and that can be only mirrored in the opposition between siblings.
The show wrapped up nicely, and at the right time, as it was clearly out of breath/ creativity, regarding the opposition our heroes have to face, with absurd characters behavior, impossible physics and things that just seem to materialize out of thin air. A clear step down from season 1 and, especially, season 2.
The setting is also pretty interesting, a world where the vast majority is blind, for some unknown reason, and sight is punishable by death. We don't know what happened, when it happened, why it happened. And the show limits itself at the classical apocalypse trope, without pressing the question. That world deserved a bit more explanation.
Maybe we'll have another show in the same setting ?
In any case respect to Apple for producing some of the greatest shows of the past years, with great production, great characters, great acting and great story. "See" is up there with "for all mankind", "foundation", "shantaram", "severance" and "silo", even better than a few of them too.

[8.5] Think too much and you're out

See is an interesting show with beautiful opening & soundtrack, premise, story, photography and battle sequences. Do not compare it with what your memory may deceptively offer you.
It's not reality, it's not even fictional reality, it has its own world, its own logic. You either like it, follow the storyline without too much thinking and rationalization or you don't. Many reviewers hint about the show's logic, fluidity of their movements, their cloths...
Forget about that, do not search for a hidden truthful logic or lack of it. It is the way it is after centuries of blindness; they have adapted quite well, have stronger olfactive and tactile senses, they do whatever they aim to do, each of them in his/her own level and they sense well presence of friends and foe, even in combat actions. You just get that from their behavior, you need to accept it the way it is or science-fiction shows are most surely not meant for you.
Having said that, I have to tell that the series is not impressive, it is just well-done. The cast does a good job, some more than the others (like Baba Voss,Queen Kane, Witchfinder Warrior...)
IMO, what the series suffers from is lack of depth. It needs a stronger material, deeper storyline or the same would be dragged to season 2.
That's why even though the cast does a good job, the actors and actresses don't shine and are not impressive in the general sense of acting. Among them, though, the Queen and Witchfinder deliver a much stronger performance because of the power-hungry craziness and unique acting of the former and the presence, well-chosen words and speaking of the latter.
Jason Momoa is impressive physically as well as in battles and a good actor too, IMO. His character brings honor to the show and that was a pleasure to watch. I never thought that I would be happy to see him in one specific scene, but it did and brought a smile to my face too. Good writing.
All in all, See is a good show; just not to everybody's taste and has room for improvement to make it unforgettable.

This show breathes something fresh and something new. I'm quite sure these low ratings were giving by the same individuals that rated 'Game of Thrones' low in its first season and then jumped on the bandwagon thereafter. I put off watching this show and then decided to watch it. I'm glad I did as it kept me compelled to keep watching. This show has it all, action, drama, suspense, etc... Can't wait to see how many people jump on board. Excellent!!!!
Season one ok season 2 bad
jakethesnake-420074 June 2022
Season one was ok it wasn't amazing but it was interesting and it had me hooked. Season 2 was so bad the storyline was so slow and the acting was bad. The Queen has to be the worst acting character of the show. I won't be watching season 3.
Fantasy doesn't need to make sense
pensman13 June 2021
When I saw, endured, Waterworld with Kevin Costner, I wondered how characters could be dirty when there was nothing around but water. So you just accept certain peculiarities in See like how can they create the things about them without eyesight. And since it has been centuries, how do those electric turbines continue to exist? I cant even get a ten year warranty anymore on a refrigerator compressor much less believe it would be working for over 200 years. I'm even willing to go along with the the assumption that Payans are what is left of Americans. The premise of the series is ridiculous. But the show is basically entertaining even though we all pretty much know where it is going. If you aren't looking for believable and can really suspend belief, and I mean really suspend belief, then sit back on the sofa with some popcorn and enjoy the silliness.
The 'queen' makes watching this potentially great show almost unbearable!!!
lethaleagles-9188420 November 2023
'Queen hum ha' is the most irritating and robotic actor allowed to be seen on a potentially epic show and whom ever put her in the show nevermind as queen kane should have their job examined as well. Her acting is outdone by the sighted kid who tells the soldiers where baba voss is when he intrudes. I understand that her character is in need to be seen disliked but wow!!! I love Scarlett Johansson and I would of put her in this position before ever giving. Sylvia Hoeks a job whatsoever. Even sitting here alone watching I'm mocking her out loud with her hum hah bah bluh bluh blaaah! Lines that she goes through as if the whole show rests on her self righteous completely annoying voice and rambling annoying verses of what I can't explain as anything other than pain to my ears and head. The best thing they could do with her is QUICKLY kill her character and maybe even like the crow lol!
Ending was disappointing
pejman7529 December 2023
I enjoyed it all the to the last episode. Again like GOT I was let down. Almost everyone's ending could have been better. At the end again I thought it was a giant waste of my time but because of the baba I keep my review at 8. Amazing from the beginning to the end. Once the show is over I almost thought only the scenes that he was in them were thoroughly awesome. Although queens husband to be fair played his role well. The children did a horrible job specially the boy. It felt like he was a new grad from acting school. Girl was bad too but not as bad as the boy and their mom was alright. Not sure what else can be said about this show.
No I don't see.....
s32761693 November 2019
I don't see it. A flawed premise made worse by a half baked tribal drama. Its the braille version of the Flintstones. Starting off with a cheesy Haka that no self respecting All Black would approve of.
The whole thing is so preposterous it simply falls flat. Its not a failing of cast or setting, both of which are well chosen. The core premise just doesn't work. How do blind people wage war and build a society like this? No offence mean't but it simply asks the viewer to accept too much.
All in all, in my estimation some ideas should not see the light of day and this is one of them. 5/10.

I really tried to like this show, but it just does not make any sense. The queen's high pitched voice did me in on the last episode too. I just stopped watching halfway through. I cannot dedicate one more min to this garbage. Holler at ya!
Good to See!!

"See" comes with a story which is quiet interesting.
And acting, direction, storyline is pretty well.
After season 1, I was waiting for season 2.
And now I have completed it I would it was good and enjoyable experience.

Big budget, good cast - Momoa doing his usual modern day impression of Arnold still works, like in GoT and the much underrated Frontier.
But after episode 2 I have to give up on it......... the writing is simply too dumb.
We are supposedly in a post-apocalyptic world, where humans have lived without sight for centuries, and yet the writers chose to drop a line like "God sees everything, and if he does not, I will" into the script.
Or a queen who gathers her blind subjects for a big speech, and starts it with: "BEHOLD!".
I mean, I know we live in the era of Trump, but come on, a bit of thought put into the words your actors are saying, would be rather nice.

If you love dystopian series you'll love this. Concept isn't visionary(feels like a twist on A quiet place to me) but it's not one that's been explored much; premise is on par with any other dystopic, difference being this is backed by a powerhouse in AppleTV giving it a big enough budget to have someone like Jason Mamoa on it. First season was the best one but the next two still hold their ground. It's gory, bloody and it's about survival, politics and family, all paced well to keep your attention throughout.
A few standouts for me as the series went on was Bautista finally played a role I've always said he'd be great in. Most of his roles are tough guy with a soft spot or husky meathead for humor, some reminiscent of Dwayne Johnson's but I've always wanted him to play a somber, dark killer-esque character with a grim ambience whenever he's on. He partnered well with Mamoa.
Third season flactuatesd a little, prior to this when the action was seldom the story was enough to keep you gripped, but with time See starts to follow a more generic story, not to say it's bad, the twists and turns are more logical so nothing blows your mind story wise. I do think the show has some really remarkable fight sequences, very memorable, Baba Voss with the slavers in season one comes to mind for instance.
Most of the cast does a good job but I must say the queen's voice and character are a little over the top. The show's also really not that deep, which was fine in the first season as an introduction to this reality but it now needs more so as to not get generic and start dragging itself out but S3 is the last, good timing, can't say what the future was but they quit while ahead. Some have questioned the logic at times, I think to some extent that's due to Apple TV plus Jason mamoa attracting viewers new to the genre, because if you watch enough dystopics you start to realize their realities aren't always realistic.
I love dystopian series and think those were humanity regresses into more primitive society have a special feel to them. See is an amazing addition to the genre and it's great to see what dystopian series could be capable of when taken up by big studios and actors.

I really sunk into this blind world and love it. Big applause for all who helped create it. As for those with all the questions: how they were able to do this or that and why, im truly sorry 4 you and hope one day you would be able to watch stuff without questioning everything and just enjoy created world/tale.
Better than I initially thought, but still pretty bad
namob-436739 September 2021
The premiss of this show is pretty laughable. Fast forward +500 years into the future after some deadly plague or vaccine killed everyone but a few millons across the world. For some reason all humans go blind, and now we have some Conan Barbarian meet The Last of Us 2 situation with bad writing and everyone blind except for some people that can see for some reason.
Pretty bad story, and so filled with plot holes and contrivances that even by reading the description it put most other bad shows to shame.
But, strangely enough, this is almost okay. For the first 4-5 episodes this is almost even good. The reason is that Jason and the other actors doing an excellent job with the pretty laughable premiss. The content and actors sell the idea and story. Well, at least for a while. It does not take long for this show to crash horribly and become a parody of itself. I do not think the show-runners really believed in the idea themselves so they wrote and pitch the first few episodes with a good idea, and when the show was picked up they had no idea how to take it further,
There are also a couple of really bad characters who get worse and worse the further the story goes, again I assume the writers had no idea what to do with the characters.
The background story, the exposition we got so far and the how things got to be the way they are is so badly done and so badly thought-through that they should win an award for least believable world building in the past 5 years and that is saying something.
I gave up the during the last episode first season but watched until the second episode 2nd season just in case, and no, it does not get better...
I give this a very generous 4/10 since the idea was not as bad as I thought and due to great acting. But this is getting worse for each new second and I will assume that if I write a review a few months from now the score will be even lower.
I can sort of recommend, but if you watch this you really need to turn off you brain because this is unintelligent nonsense and nothing make any sense.

"See" goes some way to fill the void left by GOT! Sure it has some derivative elements from other post-apocalyptic stories, but its premise is completely fresh and thought-provoking. Of course, it requires suspending a lot of disbelief - for example, that people who are 100% blind can travel long distances across unknown terrain without cracking their noggins into trees or falling off cliffs. Or that in the chaotic scrum of battle, each fighter knows, without sight, whether they are attacking friend or foe. Or even that they can move from room to room with minimal touch to guide their way. No matter. Just go with it. The story is intriguing and each episode is surprising, exciting and leaves you eager to learn what happens next. The fights and battle scenes are beautifully choreographed. Jason Mamoa is a stand-out amongst the characters - a fierce warrior with a past, made of stern ethics and possessing a heart of gold. There are certainly quibbles - completely puzzling decisions made by the characters and plot leaps. The American accents and colloquialisms were jarring to me in this world. However, the three-season story arc was completely satisfying to this viewer. It's a gem I stumbled upon and I'm glad I did.
Good idea, bad execution
kshchurova18 September 2022
The idea was so fresh and promising! But the execution.. make it rough! Those people are blind and don't even know what it means to be able to see! Their world looks too good for a blind people world, they dress to well and they even color their clothes. It makes it boring and the initial idea is completely wasted.
It seems like the screen writers completely disregarded the blindness in the second season. So now it's just an ordinary medieval show, so it's easy to compare it with other shows of that sort. I'm just waiting for a dragon to appear.
And I agree, that the queen and Haniwa are sooooooo sooo annoying!

Crippled By The Writer's Own Blindness
Tweetienator3 November 2019
I really would like to see a real battle between hundreds of blind warriors - how do you know if someone is friend or enemy (by scent!? asking politely!? touching the face!?) Just watch our hero Baba Voss (Jason Momoa) fighing and you see that he is just faking to be blind (maybe this is his secret) - he somehow knows always for example by noise (or still to be disclosed superpowers) how big his enemy is and where to hit his face straight ;)
Just another remark: of course it is a good and very wise idea to make a lot of noise (drums, horns) and exercise some battle songs if an enemy army is approaching and your whole army is blind... And this are just a few examples, I could go on and on - the landslide... People blind using make-up... Blind people using open fire ;)
Anyway, the production and acting is good, on top we get some action, and violence. The plot and world building is of course one of those careless (one could also dare to say dumb) productions that flood or screens and cinemas these days. If the decline of intelligence and talent needs proof, Apple, Netflix, DC, Marvel, Hollywood and whatever studios give us every week enough example - you should hire creative people by their talent, vision and commitment (to the details), not by their gender, haircolor or whatever criteria they use these days.
Verdict: watchable - if you like to relax by watching some fantasy stories spiced up with some action and violence without any notion to be something more than a time- and brainkiller. A typical fantasy/sci-fi production of these days and a good idea/concept almost killed by a brainless execution.

This is one of the best series I have ever seen. You will find a completely different world and also different people. The main idea of this work was very nice. I watched its all seasons and love it, the ideas inside this movie was brilliant. I think the final episode could be better, and the story line had potential to grow more. I am an English language learner, and this series helped me a lot, because the people are blind, so they speak very clear and it helped me to improve my language skills with listening. As an English learner in my opinion this can be one of the best options for practicing language skills.

"Suspension of belief" is not an excuse you can use to explain away contradictions, plotholes, irrationality and nonsense in other names.
It's about accepting unrealistic elements for the sake of the overall picture.
Sounds in space, throwing fireballs, or dinosaurs in human disguise, sure, people will accept it, but then you STILL ought to present a reasonable, coherent story that abides by the internal rules of this fictional world.
"See" is built entirely on the foundation of "suspension of disbelief", but its architect is about as qualified as a drunken toddler is to propose laws, seeing as the finished product demands far, far more than that.
It requires the total, absolute suspension of reason.
Here, suspension of disbelief would be accepting a virus left only a fraction of the population alive, but left them blind. A post-apocalyptic setting.
Yet what you need to do here is accept these blind people regressed back to the bronze age, where over 99.9% of the accumulated knowledge of humanity that we enjoy today is either less than a myth, or forgotten completely. It's a world where people don't even believe in the Sun, Moon or stars, and indeed, where "sight" is a concept regarded as ridiculous...aside from being heretical warranting immediate execution in the name of "God". Good to know at least some things don't change.
You must accept that here is a world where small bands of tribal savages live in the wilderness fighting over berry bushes, but you also have to accept their fabulous makeup, their well-done hairstyles, their stylish clothing and their fancy accessories. Why any of that is necessary - or even possible - when none of them can see, I don't know, but then again, nor does the writer so who are you to judge!
"But where are the cities?" you may wonder, and the answer is: They're in the bank because post-apocalyptic city shots are way too expensive and totally unnecessary in a post-apocalyptic series anyway!
Accept all the "blind things" shown, such as heightened hearing and smelling ability, and accept they use tools to detect objects in their path like the blind would, but then forget it immediately, and instead, accept that they can fight like people who clearly see the blows coming and dodge them casually while retaliating with inhuman precision.
And accept that even though their other senses are unrealistically heightened to the point they can hear a horse breathe normally from miles' distance, alla Superman, the same people can still be sneaked up on with ease by a heavily armored foot soldier, when the plot so demands it.
"Consistency? Reason? What do you mean?" -asked the writer before he resumed fantasising about his dashing, butchering knife waving, blind martial artists putting on their scary warpaint sensually before the grand battle over their prized berry bushes.
If that all doesn't sound too bad and you want to give it a shot, prepare to vacate your mind of all thought and watch it as you are supposed to: Drooling.

Fantasy doesn't mean it has to be moronic with no semblance of any logic. Concept and plot, storyline are so bad. BTW why would you groom yourself, wear ornaments when everybody is blind (let alone make them), or even put warpaint (mud) on your face. Acting in general is not terrible (though close) but at best very mediocre. The fight scenes are just ridiculous. Complete waste of time.
Fresh and amazing show

I would give 10 only for Baba Vos. This is really Jason's best ever role.
In my opinion Season 1-2 were the best seasons. Season 3 wasn't bad but something became a bit repetitive.
Also people need to lighten up, this is a fantasy show about a dystopian future. So what if it has couple things that don't make 100% sense. Besides, If you just watch and enjoy there aren't that many. The only thing that really stands out for me is how Baba Vos is able to get so many major series and still fight 50 people.
And some reviews are saying Cbit is annoying but I think she's brilliant. She was supposed to be an evil b*** and plays it perfectly.
I'd watch this over any of the boring Comics hero shows. This show is well worth the time.
