Not off to a great start....

Let me begin by saying that I usually quite enjoy reality shows with this kind of format, such as Skin Wars. I'm also a fan of Kandee, so that gave me incentive to give this show a try. However, after having watched the first episode I felt very let down.

Laverne Cox as the host seems very stiff (not at all how I would have imagined her) and relies heavily on rather awkward lines ("puns"). She actually almost comes across as unlikable and cold. Such a shame..

Also, the contestants simply aren't all some of the absolute best in beauty as the show claims. I have an Instagram, I follow beauty influencers and make-up artists, so I know that there much better talent out there. I do not say this to be mean, it's just the reality of it. Some of the looks presented on the show were very basic and/or poorly executed.

All in all, the show just seemed quite forced and underwhelming. I might give it another episode, but I am not feeling hopeful about it.

She makes me uncomfortable, no smiles, is she a mean girl?? I'll give it one more chance. I just happened onto the show so we'll see. That's all I have to write.

This show has got to be a joke. First of all, these contestants aren't PROFESSIONAL Makeup Artists. They're Instagram famous. Doing makeup really well on yourself does NOT makeup you a Makeup Artist. The contestants have almost zero skill when it comes to applying makeup to OTHER people. So just make this an Instagram/selfie competition and that would be closer to the truth. Don't have these people doing makeup on others. It was so atrocious I barely made it through the first episode. And some of these Instagram influences are so injected that they look absolutely ridiculous outside of selfies. They're completely unrealistic and look absurd all for the sake of being Instafamous. I've been a Makeup Artist for 15 years and I'm disgusted by this show. Again, why the hell are you going to take people who aren't makeup artists and have them do makeup on other people and call it a makeup competition? The one girl's foundation was so far from her correct color that I truly believed the show was fake. I felt bad for the judges because it really felt like they were forced to find the good in each piece these people created. The guy who won the first episode at least had some skill in his avant-garde look. That was something. But all in all the show is terrible.

That's what I kept asking when watching this wreck. There is no glam and no mastering. I agree with the other 2 (at this time only 2 reviews are here) reviews. Laverne Cox is not right for this - the painful cue card reading, stilted, and unlikable.

These contestants? With all the beauty bloggers and vloggers, where did they find this group? Downright bizarre.

A "pop art" challenge and one contestant attempts what was supposed to be a question mark, allegedly. That was his makeup. Took an hour. I could have done it in 12 seconds - and given my lack of skill, trust me, that's saying something.

I was looking forward to this, love beauty and makeup and watching true artists at work! I am NOT an artist, so I always love to watch and learn, perhaps pick up new tricks. There is nothing here like that. They should just turn it over to Mario Dedivanovic and Kandee Johnson, that would be worth watching!

Had potential

I was so excited about this show, but clearly judging is off. Taylor was a master at makeup, listened to the challenge, and executed. "One" judge was so quick to want someone to think outside of the box, they chose someone who couldn't follow any of the challenges, including the "drip". Doing things your own way is not thinking outside of the box. Taylor had skill. She would have surprised everyone as she continued on. They could have found the person to think outside of the box in other episodes. They picked the worst person. I think in their desperation to make it radical, they did not execute good judgment.

The only sense it makes is to push with the other shows like "beauty star" as well as RuPauls they do it far far more better I mean it just makes sense this show totally reminded me of the other shows but done awfully so that other show shine. It worked. look at the judges they almost laugh every time their models coming into view

I have another idea they're blasting all these YouTube bloggers that claim to be a make up artist they put them to the test. Proving not just anyone can be self claim make up artist

I love this show - I also love ANTM. I am a MUA and love everything about this show. I am learning more creative ways to wear makeup. Love the judges feedback and the contestants are so adorable.

Just wondering how bad this show can get, but it is so funny to watch this mess, I can't stop, too bad it's not meant to be funny. Never watched any of the KKlub shows, and now so glad I didn't. Amazingly stupid.

As a lifelong fashionista, I find this show fun and interesting. It's a particular pleasure to see editorial work during its growth and development, rather than seeing just the finished product. I do feel that the lighting could be better for the looks. This is makeup, after all, and proper lighting can make or break any look. Finally, I adore Laverne Cox. You go, girl!

PAINFUL TO WATCH!

From the staging to the podium where the judges sit. If Kim K had all that money and let her presentation look like that, its pathetic. She is judges so much on how she lives and looks but this set was just cheap and tacky. No money award but a chane to win your own collaboration with her for her makeup line. If those rumors are true about Kim K and her family being cheap people but expect free stuff.... hmmmmm....

Awkward, it could have been so much better.

The choice of contestants - some have great talent but the titles of 'beauty influencers, social medical influencers' etc, it's a little bizarre. I'm over the sob stories about where these individuals have come from in life, we've all experienced difficulties, the sob stories are off putting. I didn't understand the choice of host, Laverne Cox is on the wrong show. She's cold, lines are so painfully rehearsed and the performance is uncomfortable to watch. The prize is rubbish, a collaberation with Kim K's makeup, after all that effort? No thanks. 2 stars because some of the 'make up artists' have talent and Glam Masters could actually work but with a different execution and a bit more investment.

This show was a train wreck that I couldn't look away from. I am amazed and shocked at the same time that nobody shut this down before it aired. The contestants appeared medicore. There were several times where you could tell the judges were making far reaches to find something nice to say about some of the work. Several of the "artists" were incredibly boring to listen to because they would repeat their same sob story every chance they got. It's weird to me that there's no cash involved, the main prize is to collaborate with Kim K's line. It sounds to me like that whole point of the show is for Kim K. to score some free labor. When you think about it like that, it makes sense that the majority of people to jump at this opportunity would be bloggers and instagram people because being so entitled they think 'exposure' is an acceptable form of payment for goods and services is kind of their thing. I think the biggest disappointment was Lavern Cox which is painful to say because she's the reason I wanted to watch. Her voice is monotone, her actions are robotic, she's just everything you do not want to see in a host. I would give this show a 0 if I could.

First of all I am sure there were very talented MUA on this show but this show most certainly is not that. The host seems to think she is auditioning for Rupaul's drag show. The way she talks is like nails on a chalk board. She thinks she is very cute though but it is all wrong. Mario seems as if he is too shy for a camera. He looks mute and robotic at times. Definitely not made to be in front of cameras. He might make Kim's face look pretty and perhaps he should just stick to Kim Kardashian's room and make up table.

Love the idea of the show. I was very excited to tune in, but dissapointed with the quality. Laverne Cox is not right for the show. She comes off robotic and cold. Can't stand listening to her lines. New host and I may watch next season.

Lose Laverne and the rest of the lack luster artists so called judges.

This show could be intriguing but Laverne Cox is a total dud. So completely full of itself just ruins the premise of the subject matter. I could hardly watch. It is completely full of itself. Haughty and arrogant. The rest of the judge/artists are duds as well.

No thanks. Change the channel.

Lighting is terrible, most of the contestants are terrible, Laverne Cox practically ruins it before it even has a chance, with her unlikable, zero personality, halting, monotone delivery. Why does she pause every two words and act so serious? Baffling! Her hosting coach should be fired and so should she. Get a new host, better contestants, and better lighting and this could be interesting.

I watched two episodes and wondered why I was torturing myself.

Can we just talk about how Laverne Cox single handedly ruined the entire show? First of all, it was like she was reading it off of a cue card and after every word was a period. Girl, did you not learn how to read?

And she tried so hard to channel RuPaul then she ended up a RuMess. You're trans, not a drag queen. Even if you were a drag queen, you'd need to have some semblance of a personality. There was no life behind those eyes at all.

The concept of the show was fine, but still there was something missing about how the competition was formed. Other than the obvious misstep with the host...

From the Queen Of Fake comes this horrible offspring. Although seeing these up and coming makeup artists' work is slightly interesting, the whole presentation of the show is fake. No surprise there as Kim Kardashian is Executive Producer. I usually enjoy Lavern Cox, but I don't know what she's doing! A bad RuPaul? A Saturday night drag MC? She comes off so insincere, fake and contrived it's frankly hard to watch. If she would actually be interested in what's happening instead of preening and trying so hard at being Xtra it might not be so painful. Substance people, NOT pretense! Lesson learned.

I love Laverne in Orange is the new black but in this show she is BORINGGGGGG!!!! The concept of the show is interesting but as a host she sucks😩😩 she sounds so monotone.
