Remove your childhood googles
aslitalien26 March 2021
Is it the originals you watched as a child? No.

It is the worst thing they could possibily come up with? No

It's entertaining and carries a good message : let the children play. Not everything is about competition.

Mostly well done
ercfunk-445-95004629 May 2021
Having grown up watching the original movies as a kid I was hopeful they did the originals justice with the series. For the most part it is well done, but there are a few episodes that the writing fell a bit flat. The last episode felt rushed to finish. It seems like they could have had a few more episodes and fleshed it out a bit more.

Good nostalgia
nicorip228 June 2021
If you liked the movies and want to feel nostalgic, i recommend you watch this tv show. It must be said that I found the tv show to be a bit more childish than the movies.

I beg to differ
plocker-9777427 March 2021
After reading some of these reviews I would have to disagree with the negative ones of course the first episode is going to be a bit slow as they lay out the foundation for the story line just like any first show of any sitcom!! But I have a feeling the show is going to turn into something big and still has the feeling of the Mighty Ducks and for those of you that don't remember the coach of the New Mighty Ducks was actually on the Hawks in the original Mighty Ducks!! For those of you that are saying it's a waste of time of watching I strongly disagree you need to give it a chance! Tell me how many shows did you start watching and not really get into them until the second or third episode?? I'm a huge NCIS fan at but it took me probably three or four episodes until I really got into the show!! Yes is the show a little different than the original movies of course it is it's going to be it's 25 years after the fact! But me and my daughter sat down last week and washed all three Mighty Ducks movies just so she's caught up when this series started today she's excited and can't wait for the next episode!

Takes mighty ducks from young to childish
alexglimbergwindh17 May 2021
Pushed diversity. Too obvious in its message that I gets annoying to watch. It never flows seamlessly.

I watched the original movie before this to compare and not see this through nostalgia goggles.

Oh Mighty ducks took a young group of kids and Made a movie that could work for all ages. This series is for the smallest and ones that likes to be foon sped virtues and bad hockey play. However. It's not horrible. But it's not what it could be.

Nostalgia 2.0!
zerul-9381827 March 2021
I was born and raised in Minnesota so the original movies are a part of my history. So happy to see this come back and enjoyed every minute of it. Anxiously awaiting the cameos that will come as the season goes on.

Episode 1 - good start
jreichow-2031826 March 2021
Movies are fast paced and in your face. TV shows can be a bit more laid back. This isn't the Mighty Duck movies. The first show is a bit slower as the story is established but I thought the kids were great. Lauren Graham works as an overprotective mom. Emilio Estevez's Gordon Bombay has taken quite the turn from where he was 25 years ago but you know that he's going to get behind the down on their luck kids who can barely skate. Some of the kids (now adults) from the movies will be making cameos and it'll be fun to see them on the show.

Entertaining but lacking...
rdamian196326 October 2021
The series is entertaining but doesn't quite compare to the movies. The storyline is decent but often the dialogue seems forced. In typical Disney fashion, there is forced political correctness throughout the episodes which holds back the shows potential.

Does Little "Game Changing"
JayWolfgramm23 March 2022
This show Mighty Sucks. After the unexpected success of "Cobra Kai" Disney executives thought long and hard for their own way to make money off of a similar idea. Then they remembered they had their a nostalgic sports movie that they could spin-off into a series with "Mighty Ducks". Like all of us, they tried to forget the fact that they already made a T. V. series of Mighty Ducks.

It makes sense that since Karate Kid was a much better movie than Mighty Ducks that likewise the T. V. versions of the franchises would continue the tradition.

The drama in the series feels artificial, the humor feels forced, the character motivations don't add up and the whole thing could have been at least 4 episodes shorter.

Much like the series team name, I will have to say "Don't Bother" to watch this series.

Another Vancouver-shot Hallmark movie, but without the good writing
LASD_Dad5 April 2021
Didn't last two episodes. Glad they got the kids to write their own dialog, but wouldn't it be better to get a REAL writer? What kid actually says that stuff?

I can picture the crew standing in the Covid test lineup on day one.

"What're we shooting today? Hallmark?" "Nah. Might Ducks I think." "Mighty Ducks Six ... but without the acting." "I heard Emilio's gonna be here today." "Everyone needs work."

The whole thing just smacks of low-budget, deliver-anything-right-now, minimal filmmaking. Note to Lauren: lose the parka and the puffy vests in every single scene. Everyone chunks out a bit these days. (Especially me.) Just own it; don't try to hide it.

Sadly, they seem to have missed the characters, casting and humour of the original. Pass. But I will add two stars for their attempt to use a more racially-diverse cast. Unfortunately, I don't think the producers have seen the inside of a classroom in 2010, let alone 2021. Long way to go yet.

Like a castrated Cobra Kai
monol2226 September 2022
It only gets 6 stars because it brings Emilio Estevez out of retirement and he literally carries the entire show. There is absolutely too much woke trash and checklist pandering. But its Disney so I already knew/expected this going in. Everybody gets a participation trophy I guess! The kids are alright... I guess... semi likeable if not for their personalities being overly exaggerated caricatures of what Disney executives THINK kids these days are really like. I really found it difficult to get through a few episides, I was about to stop watching entirely when they threw in some gratuitous cameos that pulled me back from the brink. The episodes themselves are simultaneously too short and mostly filler. This could have VERY EFFECTIVELY been edited down into a decent DISNEY+ exclusive movie. Shame really. I dint expect a season 2 and have yet to hear any news or INTEREST in one.

Just like it should be.

Great plot. Reminds me of D1 and how The Mighty Ducks series started. Estaves hasn't changed a bit. Great being able to sit back watch the show with my boy and go back in time.

Had great potential, but Emilio was never allowed a voice
filmgoer24971111 November 2021
I think Emilio Estevez intended for this program to be a bit more like the second Mighty Ducks film in that it would have more of a commentary on America. It was clear that they favored Lauren Graham's character over Emilio. I did not like the direction they took with the series, although it had its bright moments. Emilio's inspirational speeches as Gordon, but the writer's or producers never wanted Gordon to develop into Gordon. They clearly did not want Estevez to be the main character, which is their loss and not his. In one episode, they have Gordon listen to Evan's dad about giving Alex a stuffed animal. Gordon has been around the block enough times that he would know better than to do this. He tells Coach T about his college experience as a coach, and he would know better than to do that. In the Pilot by the end they had Gordon coming back around to being his old self, and Gordon's speech at the end basically saves what was otherwise a lackluster episode, only to the next episode have him laying on the coach the whole time and very little involvement. It is my belief that the producers only wanted Emilio on the dotted line, so the show would be green lighted. Emilio just come off his greatest film as a filmmaker/actor and won numerous awards for that film. He is better than this program and the program would have been a lot better under his leadership. Emilio hang in there and fight another day. I wish the cast and crew luck, but I wish Emilio luck as well and cannot wait for his next film, which is Guns 3: Alias Billy the Kid. The fact he is directing, writing, and starring should ensure that films success. God bless Emilio!

Good family oriented comedy with a side of under the table humor. Still predictable like the originals, but good supporting cast makes it a must watch.

Early Impressions are Decent
jmforsyth-3329128 March 2021
This review is subject to change as more episodes come out in the coming days:

I'll try to keep this concise, it's a decent start for a kids show trying to bring in a new audience and honour its source material at the same time. It was an entertaining watch - the kids are fun and some of the jokes were actually pretty good. The acting was just alright. It's an underdog sports story so I don't imagine we'll see anything groundbreaking moving forward but the show did enough good things for me to want to see what else this soft reboot can bring to the table.

Mediocre at best
Juggen5 June 2021
The Mighty Ducks has lost its soul.

This is nothing like the original. The series is incredible corny and cliché, and both the manuscript and acting is so bad, like everything's just so unbelievable too. AND, all the hockey scenes are just cheap, like you can tell nobody knows how to skate.

Disney also added the coach to the list of grown-up babies, together with Luke from SW.

There're some feel good parts about it sure, but overall the series is just not good...

So bad it's fun!
Unocrew5 April 2021
Well it's not really that bad. Yeah it's got a Cobra Kai feel to it, yeah Lauren Graham is horrendous in her role, yeah Emilio is like Luke in Ep. 8.

So what? It was still enjoyable.. I'll keep watching.

Best part: the child actors are pretty good!

Fun and wholesome
mrhowell-8669930 November 2022
I'm sure you're going to read some reviews about this show that will be negative and probably a little rude. I get it. If you're a fan of the original trilogy, you may think you're too old to watch this or that is will be lame, but I beg to differ. Yes, it's not the Mighty Ducks of old, but it's fun, heartwarming and just makes you feel good. Life is too short to hate everything. This show has some decent laughs, not-so-terrible acting and moves the story along at a reasonable pace. If you want a lighthearted show to watch to counterbalance all of the negative crap in the world, this show will do the trick.
