Previous reviews are mistaken
soughtforscores23 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Frank did make a mistake in this episode. What's funny is that he's apparently not allowed to ever make those mistakes or bow to pressure. Everyone does. But Frank eventually changes his mind, realizes he made a mistake, and fixes it in an upcoming episode. So don't skip this episode just because people are complaining; it's an important part of the story going forward, and literally nothing makes sense later on without it. I think the writers did something amazing here. They didn't bring a clean resolution in one episode, but they allowed Frank to make a serious mistake with serious repercussions and then fix those later. That's normal humanity. We're not infallible, and neither is Frank.

What happened to Police Chief Frank Reagan?
jrogers-029383 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
These writers have changed the character Frank Reagan from a proud confident leader who always backed his officers and would move Heaven and Earth to do so. He will stand with an Officer of the Law as long as that Officer had good intent and stayed within the confines of the law and their duty.

In this episode, we see for the first time a seemingly worn down Frank Reagan. He bows to political correctness of the moment and throws a good Officer of the Law under the bus. He caved to the peer pressure in what seems to be a once in human history isolated hypothetical situation that has the viewer wondering what hit them. The situation is so unbelievable that I highly doubt these are the same writers that wrote the original storyline in the beginning. I hate to see such a good series die because of poor writing and all out character assassination of the main player.

So bad I had to write a review
grammydawn-434046 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This episode try to deal with far too many social issues and therefore didn't deal with any of them well. First, Danny would not be suffering the severe financial impact of Linda's death. She was killed on the job would've had Worker's Compensation probably life insurance and he and the boys would be collecting Social Security. Also she only recently went back to work. Next was the weird racial profiling/illegal immigrants story. I'm not even sure what they were trying to accomplish except confusion. Why would Frank Reagan decide to fire an officer after he determined she was well liked, a good officer with a good record and after he used her to help calm the prisoner down? Not only out of character but very disjointed. And The sexual-harassment story was also undeveloped. One of the other female employees told Nikki the boss was basically a good guy but he wasn't part of the solution. Then he turns out to be a ringleader of harassment. I'm very saddened by this episode.

Wrong on so many levels

Warning: Spoilers
Nicky gets an internship as "Nicky Boyle" at some unnamed company doing some unnamed "do-gooder" thing and is greeted by the smarmy CEO who Immediately asks her to call him by his first name and compliments her on her clothes. Fast forward to him asking her to dinner "with coworkers" (who don't show up) then to his house. She instead shows up at Erin's but says she's going to handle the situation "by herself" (why go to her mom's?) After Nicky walks off her internship *then* her mom asks if she'd be willing to have her coworkers speak to ADA's about pressing charges. Danny and the boys are out to dinner (again) and the bill come and his card is declined. It comes to light that He's got money troubles since Linda died and they're down to one income. (I guess the idea of life insurance was foreign to them before Linda died, not to mention the fact she died *at work* and there would have been a huge payout for that... Also, they would have had homeowners insurance on their house that was firebombed and his family paid the rent on their new house for a couple months, but, sure... throw in that plot!) Suddenly, he has a job offer for $250k/year to provide private security which gives him the dilemma of staying with the NYPD or taking the cushy job. (Again... remember the episode with the artist?) Of course, he says no to the new job, but never says how he's going to solve his money problems.

Bad one
tamjam686926 April 2018
Frank quotes Lincoln as saying that sometimes you have to take a limb to save the body. The only body part he was saving was his own rear end. Absolutely terrible. They need to add a character who'll tell Frank when he's making a bad decision. In an upcoming episode, he promotes a higher ranking officer despite that officer lying about his military service.

Thumbs down

Frank was so out of character. He has always stuck up for his cops. This episode is not believable. What happened with the writing. If this keeps up you have lost me as a viewer. Get real and leave your agenda out of this.

The bills must be paid
bkoganbing2 October 2018
This Blue Bloods story finds Donnie Wahlberg feeling the financial crush now being the sole support of his two sons. A Reagan quitting the NYPD is unthinkable but he's being tempted.

But the main plot line in this story is Lauren Patten a young rookie getting all chesty and arresting some man who does turn out to be an illegal alien on nothing more than her thinking he looks suspicious and out of place. A hostile crowd develops and its all caught on tape. It lands on Tom Selleck's desk and it's a decision that will earn criticism whatever way he goes.

Other than that young Sami Gayle goes out in the work force and gets her first experience with sexual harassment from boss Sean Kleier. This one leads to some frank talk with her mother Bridget Moynahan.

The last is the strongest of the three stories involved in this episode.

What's in a name
alex_laura-142-37968819 December 2018
I must have missed something. Isn't Nicky a Boyle since that is her father's last name? I do not understand why she would use Reagan. The lame storyline on workplace sexual harassment doesn't work. Nicky is irritating once again.

My Last Episode!
vivalasvegas200810 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with the other people. Who were the idiots who wrote this episode? The context of his reason to fire the patrol woman using a Lincoln quote was false and misleading. Iam sick and tired of being PC . A police officer in New York can't stop someone and ask for their ID ? That is just plain stupidity! You lost me as a true Blue Blood Fan ! Tom Seleck lost a fan too!

More absurd storylines
Originator199414 April 2022
Just when you think you have had your full of the female Boyle's/ Regans using their last name to their advantage. Another absurd episode pops up. We know why character Erin went back to using Reagan ( and not even sure she changed it legally) but dippy daughter uses her middle name, Reagan, when its to her advantage, about every other episode, to get ahead since Boyle, won't get her what she doesn't deserve. In this episode, she actually uses her real name but waivers back and forth depending on how she will again gain what she has not earned and even Erin asked why she didn't use Reagan. Duh, Reagan is not her birth last name. Both females use , use,use to gain what they have not earned. Its bad enough the character Nikky adds nothing tomthe mix, comes across as arrogant, spoiled and a know-it- all but lends nothing to any story line . Even into 2022, she is shown as a character when she hasn't been on in months and lets leave it that way...Her character is boring, blah, and unnecessary . Privilege begets privilege . At least Sean now has spunk , moxey, and lends a typical kid growing up , to the mix. He will be the next generation to be a cop in the family and rightfully so .

Really bad writing of charachters making really bad decisions
dsmoore-224 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
An episode where everyone makes decisions that are either absurd or just out of character. Frank decides to fire a cop who played it by the book and did nothing wrong, and twists a great Abe Lincoln quote to justify it. Danny walks away from a job that would have secured his family's future after they tell him they'd rather compromise their future than have Danny give up being on the job - and he selfishly agrees. COMMUNITY COLLEGE? Yeah, that'll be a bright future indeed. Why make good grades when you're going on to a school that accepts anyone who is breathing that has a checkbook? Just because Erin is going to Columbia you think you should get a good opportunity. Nope. And Frank firing a cop from a dedicated cop family just because of publicity is not only out of character but stupid. BAD episode of a normally good show.
