I am here to review "Creek Week".
This episode was quite insulting.
So they decided Creek from the movie would return. That's fine but it has certain implications that can be delt with in the episode. Creek betrayed everyone; he made arrangements that they would be eaten by the Bergens to save himself. I can concede he was under pressure so it's easy to judge but that's not the kind of thing you should just let go.
He was banished but if you're going to go back on that banishment that never had a time limit established then how do you know they're ready for re-integration?
The answer is simple: have them do community service. Have them do some work that no one else wants to do if they're serious about being part of a society that they have a debt to.
Branch was not 100% in the right but he wasn't 100% in the wrong either. He doesn't do anything heinous to Creek, he just tries to make him look unscrupulous and not even in a slanderous way.
Our conclusion in which Branch is ostracized and forced to apologize (in bad song) is just a level of bad values that I thought animation left behind in the early 2000s.
An adequate story editor would have done something but they didn't. I'm not sure I will re-visit the show. You know those lists videos online to the effect of "Top 10 worst episodes of good shows"? This is to typical of those in that it shows someone villainized for actually being fairly reasonable and all the other characters being douches. Even those sexy conjoined twins (that hurt me the most, I liked them).
There was no nuance in this episode about Branch's feelings. An understandable position was depicted as wholly in the wrong and the real villain was given every credit just because he apologized. By all means give him a chance to re-integrate but like I keep saying: community service!
I'm not sure I'll come back to this show, I have so much else to choose from.
