On the Monday, March 25 episode of The Voice, two of Team Chance the Rapper’s contestants, Bri Fletcher and Serenity Arce, were forced to compete in the Battles. Admittedly, Chance initially put them together because of their affinity for “emotional music.” But it led to a moment of deep feelings and shed tears for the competitors and Chance was nearly brought to tears as well. However, in interviews, Senenity has been candid about the closeness between her and Bri throughout the show. Undeniably, it was hard for her to think about one of them not making it out of the Knockouts. Further, Serenity says, “It...

Dylan Dreyer’s big announcement while on NBC’s Today left her at a loss for words later.
The meteorologist and host for Today’s 3rd Hour appeared alongside her colleagues Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, and Al Roker to share her news.
“Well, this is a very special morning. Not only because of Caitlin Clark’s possible big thing, but we’ve got a big announcement from Dylan,” Roker said as others clapped and cheered.
“Her new bestselling Misty series has the latest installment. This one is called Misty the Cloud: The Thing About Spring,” he said.
Dreyer then spoke about how she loves the Step Into Reading books because her son Calvin is reading them, and another of her sons is close to starting to read them.
She described her latest book as good for kindergarten and first-grade-level readers, as it has simple sentences, simple words, and easy-to-understand concepts.

More than 60 years after it was recorded, Lesley Gore‘s “Misty” is the hottest song on TikTok. Gore’s 1963 take on the Erroll Garner standard achieved a first-place finish in the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart thanks to its use in a widespread trend.
Gore’s shuffling rendition of “Misty” has appeared in more than 1.8 million TikToks. In recent months, the song has provided the soundtrack for a viral meme, in which participants show how their appearance changes with or without a particular attribute. As memes are wont to do, the “Misty” bit has evolved to become self-referential.

This post contains spoilers for the season 2 finale of "Yellowjackets."
One of my favorite things about the sophomore season of "Yellowjackets" is that this time around, the Showtime mystery series seemed to be as much in the business of answering questions as asking them. The survival horror series has always shared some storytelling DNA with "Lost," but while that series piled on mystery after mystery, "Yellowjackets" actually eased up on its more enigmatic elements for much of this season — and even went so far as to give us explicit solutions to a few major puzzles.
By the time the credits rolled on the second season finale, fans knew how Javi (Luciano Leroux) survived the winter, what the mysterious queen of hearts playing cards meant, what happened to Lottie (Simone Kessell) and Van (Lauren Ambrose) as adults, and exactly how the show's element of cannibalism came to be. Yet there's one...

This post contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets" season 2 and discusses potentially triggering content.
Complete and total desperation is starting to set in for the stranded teens in the past timeline for Showtime's "Yellowjackets." In a matter of months, they've gone from carefree high school soccer players to starving cannibals struggling to survive in the Canadian wilderness with little to no hope of being rescued. To make matters worse, Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) has no choice but to give birth to her baby surrounded by her clueless classmates who, understandably, have no idea what they're doing or how to help her.
In "Qui," the sixth episode of season 2, it's finally time to find out if Shauna's baby survived or was consumed by the others in a wild cannibal cult eating frenzy. Sadly, it's revealed that her child was stillborn. Passing out from the pain, Shauna suffers a hallucination showing everyone eating the baby,...

Season 2 of Showtime’s hit genre series “Yellowjackets” is ready for another dance at this year’s Emmys, after premiering to critical acclaim and record-breaking numbers for the network. The plans for the acting submissions have changed slightly from the first season, Variety has learned exclusively.
Breakout star Sophie Nélisse, who plays the teenage version of Shauna, will now join her adult counterpart Melanie Lynskey in the lead actress drama category, with hopes of landing a nomination. The pair will be joined by co-stars Tawny Cypress and Juliette Lewis, who portray the adult version of their characters, Taissa and Natalie, respectively.
The thriller show tells the story of a girls’ soccer team as they struggle to survive in the woods following their plane crashing while on their way to a tournament. The tale flashes back and forth between two periods: One, the aftermath of a crash, with the surviving members fending for themselves; the other,...

Clint Eastwood's 1971 directorial debut, "Play Misty For Me," rings with the same confidence he would bring to every film he's made since. In most of Eastwood's work, clear, uncomplicated, but elegant filmmaking mingles with strong performances (from non-actors and professionals alike) to bring any different genre to life. There's an unvarnished vitality to those movies, and "Misty," shot on location in Carmel on the Monterey Peninsula, has that in spades.
The key to "Play Misty For Me" goes beyond the movie's location photography and even Eastwood's promise as a first-time filmmaker. To develop a psychological thriller like this,...

Chicago – Misty Rowe is a Country Music cultural icon, through her many years with TV’s “Hee Haw,” but she also portrayed Marilyn Monroe in “Goodbye, Norma Jean” (1976). She remembers it all in her new memoir, “Misty Memories.”
The 1970s sex symbol was beloved on the seminal country music and comedy show “Hee Haw,” which began on CBS-tv and moved to syndication for an unprecedented 19 years. She stayed on the show throughout that time, and worked also on the variation “Hee Haw Honeys” (with Kathie Lee Gifford). Her life, from modest beginnings with roots in Chicago, to the bright lights of portraying Marilyn Monroe (the first actress to do so), to all her behind-the-scenes TV/Film anecdotes (including “Happy Days”), are all present in her new book … written with Scot England and featuring a cover photo by Joe Arce of HollywoodChicago.com.

In the lead-up to “The Voice” finale on Monday December 14, we polled viewers to see who they want to win. Their clear favorite in our Top 5 rankings of the season 19 artists is Carter Rubin, who enjoys a sizeable lead with 43% of the total tally as of this writing. He is being coached by Gwen Stefani, who is still looking for her first victory.
However Rubin better watch out for Ian Flanigan, who is being coached by reigning seven-time champion Blake Shelton. At 22%, he has polled almost a quarter of the vote in our best to worst power rankings. Remember, Flanigan won the Top 9 Instant Save. That sudden death showdown gave him another chance to impress “The Voice” viewers with his vocals on the Travis Tritt tune “Anymore.”

November 10th looks to be an extremely busy day for home media releases, as we have a ton of horror and sci-fi headed home this Tuesday. Two of this writer’s favorite films of 2020 are being released this week—Bill & Ted Face the Music and Spontaneous—and if you’re looking for some classic genre offerings, Scream Factory is keeping busy with a terrifying trifecta of releases: Brides of Dracula: Collector’s Edition, War of the Colossal Beast, and How to Make a Monster.

For the most part, any singer who competes on The Voice is guaranteed to be a decent singer. But every once in a while, there are those artists who completely blow the judges and the viewers away; John Holiday is one of those artists. The idea of a horror host is almost as old as the horror genre itself, dating all the way back to radio serials where an in-character narrator would ensure that the audience stuck around between stories; television viewers are similarly familiar with the notion, with names like Elvira, Mistress of the Night and Svengoolie transcending the B-movies they introduced on a weekly basis. It’s in comic books, however, that the horror host has truly blossomed, with characters like The Crypt Keeper, Uncle Creepy, and DC’s Cain and Abel becoming as famous — if not more so — than the stories they foisted upon the unsuspecting reader.
Amongst the scores of comic hosts, one holds an especially dear place in the heart of a generation of British readers: Misty, the cover star and fictional editor of the short-lived horror weekly of the same name, which ran from 1978 through 1980. The only constant...

When Netflix were rolling out their Marvel shows, Luke Cage always felt like the middle man, which is neither a major criticism or a glowing compliment. The series never quite reached the levels of popularity enjoyed by Daredevil or Jessica Jones, but it was far superior to Iron Fist. The first season started to come off the rails a little bit once Mahershala Ali’s Cottonmouth was out of the picture, while the second run was reliably solid if hardly spectacular.
That being said, Mike Colter’s charismatic and powerful performance as the title hero was another example of how the Netflix roster was cast almost perfectly across the board, and Alfre Woodward’s Black Mariah and Simone Missick’s Misty Knight were no slouches, either, with both actresses bringing plenty of personality to their respective characters.
