A reluctant attempt.
dk-8962424 December 2018
No at all watchable for Hollywood buffs. But the introduction of the space genre is appreciable. Poor character development makes it a difficult, one time watch. Would've been better if taken care of visual effects. 5 starts for the representation of space genre.

Could have been better.

Though a good script and a good try in Telugu space movie.. But a sci.fiction movie should maintain logics. Space capsule zero gravity scenes are very poor..

Decent ...
suprabhattacharya2 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Antariksham 9000kmph(2018)

After 'tik tik tik' (the first Indian space film as they call it)which failed to gain critical favour,'antariksham 9000kmph' releases on 21st december (2018) in the same year ,the first space film of telegu film industry. It is refreshing to see that Indian directors are daring to step out for making such films.Where 'tik tik tik' is a blunt remake of 'Armageddon'..'antariksham 9000kmph' comes with a new concept which is said to be inspired from a news article. We know Sankalp Reddy from 'ghazi attack' so expectations were high. The film also consists of a believable cast. In the first half the characters were developed well and audience will feel the vibes of a promising film all out.The problem arises in second half but I am not saying 1st half is perfect ,there are several cliches but at least it is decent and believable. The film plunges into melodramatic trap and the writing perishes with the film too accompanied by logicless twists ,the protagonist seems to have a cakewalk in finding remedies and yes even the patriotic moments don't work.As for acting ,everyone has done a decent job.The visuals are good specially the moment when astronaut floats in the space to repair the satellite...and the production design is brilliant with a good background music. The film is forgettable one but surely a decent attempt. 6.5/10

Antariksham 9000 KMPH Review
margulanabutrlov16 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After directing a film like Ghazi, expectations were high on Sankalp when it came to his space thriller Antariksham, maybe even unreasonably so. While space films are a genre extremely rare in Indian cinema, let alone Telugu, the director must be lauded for even attempting to pull off something that's no mean feat. But, does his film work? Unfortunately for him and the audience, it only works in bits and pieces. Dev (Varun Tej) is an astronaut whose whole world revolves around his baby - a moon orbiting satellite called Viprayan - and his girlfriend, a teacher called Parvati (Lavanya Tripathi). But an unforeseen incident turns his whole world upside down and he goes incognito for five whole years, choosing instead to teach science at a school in Rameshwaram. But when satellite Mihira is found to have the potential to wreak havoc with communications worldwide and causing debris, he is brought in by his old colleagues Riya (Aditi Rao Hydari) and Mohan (Srinivas Avasarala). But what makes a previously unconvinced Dev return to the Indian Space Centre? Sankalp takes his own sweet time in the first half, bringing us up to date with the events that led up to Dev being brought back to the Indian Science Centre. While there are few scenes that seem to be placed for the sake of it and few others that might be too much information for a layman to follow, the director does a good job of exploring relationship dynamics and even fleshing out his characters well enough for us to care about them when they're in distress. The issue unfortunately hits when it comes to making the drama in space engaging enough.

Four astronauts Dev, Riya, Karan (Satyadev) and Sanjay (Raja Chembolu) are launched into space via Jatayu and they hit issues mile a minute which seem to resolve pretty conveniently. This is a trope that carries out even through the climax and just when you think Sankalp is going to surprise you, he horribly cops out. Then there's the problematic cinematic liberty he takes with science and impromptu space missions, taking it too far with the reason why Dev's even there instead of reining it in hard and fast. Even the rousing speeches about patriotism, unconvincing romantic tracks and emotion heavy family dramas do nothing to convince you that this is a good idea. The only surprise you feel is how and why the film decided to make the switch from a no-frills-affair to super melodramatic in no time. Unfortunately for Antariksham, the VFX too is plain okay, not leaving as much of an impression as it's supposed to. What works for the film however are the stupendous sets erected by the team; nailing the minute details. Varun Tej, Lavanya Tripathi, Aditi Rao Hydari, Srinivas Avasarala, Satyadev and Raja Chembolu deliver convincing performances, breathing life into their characters, even when they are at their unreasonable best. Prashanth Vihari does a stunning job with the film's music, creating the required atmosphere in key scenes that sometimes even the visuals fail to do. Give this one a chance this weekend for the novelty of it all in Telugu cinema if you can look past the patchy, unrealistic narrative. If not, give it a miss. Mission abort!

A so called brilliant attempt ruined by the lack of logic
premjs26 January 2019
A dude hijacks a space mission, endangers the lives of his crew and does the impossible all because of his false pride. This movie is a disservice to the real scientists of ISRO. I'll go watch Apollo 13 for sanity.

An Ode to Stupidity
itznaidu27 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie with the pride that we have our first space movie. Thought this was a remake of "Space Cowboys". You can't just hijack a space mission. It shows the lack of quality control in our county's space mission. False pride, trying to do something that you aren't prepared for by saying some motivational statements. The astronauts spent 4 years on training for this. Heights of Stupidity.

Watch it for its brilliant attempt.
Themoviebuffster25 January 2019
Honestly, Indians are truly commendable for their money spending habits. We spend less money but produce high standards almost always. A movie similar to this in Hollywood will cost ten times more just to produce the same effect with just a little bit better plot and VFX. In fact, Indians spent much less money sending 'Mangalyan' (our Mars orbiter) to Space with five times less budget than the movie 'Gravity'. That too, in their first attempt.

This movies ties the storyline and its characters seamlessly and keeps you at the edge of the seat with its thrilling music and second half plot. The first half was a bit lagging but the actor's performances was commendable especially Varun Tej who's choosing great scripts these days by the way. The only down sides of this movie is a predictable sci-fi plot with some scenes similar to prominent Hollywood movies like 'Gravity' and 'Interstellar' but it is still a great attempt at producing an engaging space thriller. Also, wear your seat belts kids and do NOT write when you're driving. Like seriously.

A one to be missed
eshwar030321 January 2019
The movie is a space based movie but the movie is decently made in Earth than in Space. Right from the moment the characters entered Space, the movie definitely lacked sense and grip. The screenplay of the movie made it so hard to watch it.

There is no doubt that the movie team has put in so much hard work into this project. But the hard work should be in such a way that it eases the audience. But it is a hard work for the audience to watch the movie.

Really? How are people even liking it?
vaddiparthitanay24 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
No way this movie is worth 8.0. The scene where the heroine dies is very cliched-Who the hell drives the car holding a notepad and a pencil??The entire movie depends on the arrogant attitude of Varun tej and his cheesy behavior and lines. How did Varun Tej get back into the spacecraft? seriously? what are you trying to do movie? The only thing good in this movie were the visuals. Sophisticated science stuff which no one will understand is shown. Anyway we have a huge journey ahead in making space films, but this is just a dud beginning PS: I am not against anyone, I liked Varun's work in Fidaa and Tholiprema. Also, Ghaazi was way better than this movie.

A well crafted flick
abhiramashok2 February 2019
A gud film with an emotional backdrop. The technical side was above average and varun did his role perfectly.Direction and cinematography was amazing. Pls don't expect interstellar or something other like that. This film is about a scientists dream, passion and about his love. The script was brilliantly crafted but we can find some illogical ideas but when it comes through sci-fi film we can leave that kind of simple problems.

Hatsoff to the team of Antariksham for doing this kind of experimental flick.

Braindead
dpeterson113818 June 2020
The producers, writers, and director of this film obviously didn't have the slightest inkling concerning spaceflight, or even basic physics. The thing is so full of illogical sequences and glaring plot holes that it's painful to watch.

Then throw in some very annoying character development and unconvincing motivations to add to the mess.

In retrospect I can't fathom why I watched 2/3 of it... probably due to my love of science fiction and a vain home that it might get better. I fast-forwarded through the final 1/3, sampling scenes that just revealed the same repetitive garbage.

One star + a second star for acceptable (not great) special effects.

3 stars for initiative and none for execution
sportsfan-5265829 January 2019
Movie doesn't appeal either to masses who are not very familiar with space exploration and terminology or to those who follow space launches. The story makes you believe that launch missions depend on a select few and only few know how to fix bugs in the code etc. There are too many such ridiculous things in the movie and it just doesn't make sense to review all.

A brave CGI attempt meets brainless script
movieloverk19 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Heard a lot about this movie. And the initial part looked promising. The little bit of emptions were even ok in first half.

But more and more we get into movie it turns to be farce in name of sci fi movie.

So, an arrogant space coder who is also an astronaut, becomes last moment part of space crew for a recovery mission.

How? By not allowing sharing "code" he knew to the prospective astronaut whom he replaced at last moment!

Is it like some space institute or a B grade institute where code remains in developer's brain only and it goes with him?

Anybody heard about GIT/ SVN?

The director/ script writer seems to be a disgruntled IT engineer whose onsite opportunity got snatched by someone who did not share the code with him/ her.

So he/ she makes this movie a revenge ship for his missed onsite opportunity!

On flip of coin (almost) they change a higher orbit mission to lunar mission? Looks like they discovered nuclear power space crafts already? And they aim for a space craft lost 5 years back whose trajectory and position is unknown!

They do perpendicular dock in to ISS which is moving at 10 times the speed!

Add to that, funny ways how a person takes over a national space institute to fulfill his ego by claiming it to be country's mission! Over rides control and defies every possible protocol followed for a space mission.

The number of protocols and mockery of planning, programming and mission they showed in movie, I doubt that much of mockery one makes of one road trip plan also!

Please make a sci fi movie or a mushy mushy emotional pot boiler. Please don's mix both!

Worst sci-fi movie I've ever seen
loeikat20 April 2020
In sci-fi, you expect a "what if...?" situation to be explored, but you don't want it to be too far from reality. Unfortunately, this whole movie doesn't make sense at all. They tried to make a super production, but the ignorance in science and space exploration, the problems solving themselves for no reason, and the misplaced values of the characters, made them miss the target from like, a million light-years. Can be entertaining if you like really bad movies, though.

parag_a_chitale3 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Though a new genre for Indian Movies. This story doesn't sound appealing and logically correct. A man who had done grave mistakes in his life (Wife Being Killed, Project goofed up), is sent to Space to endanger life of others. This can be missed. I must say, the visuals are pretty excellent and well choreographed by standards of Indian Cinema.

Worst Logic HW with ISRO must have been done
gilari-6453210 March 2019
Even though a first genre of space in telugu. Worst portrayal . Could have done enough HW witj ISRO to shed in more technical details. Flying off in space ,slingshots etc completely off the grid. I am not telling Hollywood is best. All I say is we HAVE ISRO by our side to tell the logic , could have used them rather than so called "goose bump" dialogues. I ma not worried much about graphics because we are not hollywood either to spend so much.
