This was such a riveting start after nearly a year of waiting. What the producers, the writers, the director, and the actors have done is truly astonishing.
Some of us are still dumbfounded that AMC ignored this series vastly to favor others and the fans aren't happy but moving on past that, if something can be proven with this show is that you need good writers who actually care about diversity with compelling stories to tell and the fans will be hooked from day one and for life, even. That's precisely what this show has done.
Tonight's episode was all we have waited for, and it was worth it. Bittersweet after the news of The Badlands getting canceled but the beginning of the end or dare I say, the beginning of the beginning? Because we're not giving up. The continuation of these arcs behind Sunny and Pilgrim, The Widow and The Master, Gaius teaming up with our favorite butterfly-Tilda or Tinkerbell as Waldo would call her, and the magic of those fight sequences all in order to bring us a show that isn't just aesthetically beautiful but has so much context and a huge role in television for its diversity and also for the socio-political and environmental message it brings, of what the world could look like in 500 years more or less. Wayne Yip directing this episode, with the work the writers put in was presented beautifully. Seeing Moon trying to save Lydia was all of us all of these months of waiting not knowing if she would make it or not. The interactions between Sunny and Bajie always bring that extra awesome to The Badlands, I honestly believe the show wouldn't have the substance it does without Nick Frost in it. There's much more to be told but for now, suffice it to say this was a great continuation of all we love and hold dear. I do hope that this show can find a new home because it's these kind of stories we need on television today, besides. Who wouldn't want such a scheme breaking series on their network when it's the first of its kind and opening the doors to others? Truly revolutionary. A must watch.
