Daddy Dearest
nogodnomasters2 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Dana (Amanda K. Morales) has invited her estranged father (Andrew Hunsicker) to her birthday party with a few close friends, one that is infected.

The film tried to be heartfelt a father-daughter relationship film and failed miserably with the worst scene being the daughter writing a letter to dad with sappy background music. It also attempted to be so sort of epidemic, "I see zombies in skin-tight costumes" film. They looked more like Italian zombies than American zombies, but in reality may have just been infected people. The cause is not fully explained other than a spilled bottle. Character development lacked.

However, it does reinforce our beliefs that fat guys like cake and can't dress. Low budget and it shows.

Guide: F-word. Sex. near nudity.

Just another movie while watching u have to keep saying to urself "its just a movie; its just a movie"... Another type of movie that has a good concept plot to it, but really wasn't done right. I really don't understand y the father did what he has done, or any of the others that realize what may have been going on. Now when it was 1st unleashed Y the girl did what she did was beyond me. Y not call the landlord before damaging property just to be curious..... Its just a movie its just a movie....... ITS JUST A LAME MOVIE.

Snooze fest
thedarkestshadow-3278513 September 2020
Acting was competent however it was just dull and boring with little explanation. I also love how the woman is covering her breast when her husband( boyfriend? It's really not clear) is giving oral sex. They are the only two in the room. If she wasn't willing to do nudity that scene could have been cut and it wouldn't change the "story" one bit.

Even the actors look bored by it all.

Competent cinematography, editing and sound, but without a proper story, dialogue, acting and direction the end result doesn't matter...

Bland and rather infuriating low-budget indie
kannibalcorpsegrinder19 January 2019
After getting together for a friends' party, a group of friends at a birthday party find that the intentions of her distant father working to reconnect has to be put on hold when a deadly pathogen is introduced to the guests and forces him to try to get her out of the party alive.

For the most part, this wasn't that enjoyable an effort. A lot of the film's problems stem from the low-budget nature that runs rampant in the film. The setting of the apartment gives off a rather obvious one-setting feel that really highlights the fact that this stripped-down, minimalist effort won't have a lot to offer. The fact that this barebones setting captures only a few locations without really venturing further or featuring extravagant work in any regard becomes rather obvious in the second half where all the dialog between him and everyone else calling the hotel room to find out what's going on with the out-of-control situation as the small cast also sticks out quite prominently here. There's also the fact that this one doesn't seem to know what it really wants to be. The first half is entirely based around the slow-building drama established with the exploits of the party and the absentee father attempting to reconnect with the family, yet then he manages to pull off the asinine maneuver of removing her from the party against her will inadvertently making the whole scene look like an abduction all without informing the authorities. This comes off as completely irrational, much like the supernatural method of dealing with whatever the things are as the full extent of the virus isn't known so the scenes of the creepy figures stalking around come off as confusing and curious. Along with the easily-spotted finale that's obvious where it's going, these here are the film's flaws. There are a few things to like about this one, mostly centered around the idea of the virus spreading through the friends. After the initial infection and then succumbing to those effects in the middle of the party where she begins to infect others in similarly graphic means, this one really works the idea of the contamination working slowly through the other victim in the motel. Knowing what's going to happen here adds a macabre bent to everything, and when added to the admittedly creepy scenes of the deformed ghost-like beings coming after her which goes hand-in-hand with the few attempted gore effects on the bodies to become the few positives. Still, even with these enjoyable factors, they're not enough to overcome the overwhelming negatives.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.

Not a worthwhile addition to the zombie genre...
paul_haakonsen20 May 2020
Well, granted with the low rating this movie have harvested on IMDb, I can't really claim that I had much of any hopes or expectations to it. So why watch it? Well, solely for the reason of it being a zombie movie.

And this 2018 movie "Epidemic" from writers Stephen Michael Giglio and Adam Romanchik wasn't exactly your average zombie movie. That would either work out in a good or bad way, now wouldn't it? Well, I can't say that what director Stephen Michael Giglio did with the script was working well in favor of the movie.

There was just too many random elements in the movie, and characters that had little or no impact on the storyline. It just felt a bit too random. Sure, the heart and spirit was there, and it showed, but the movie just wasn't a great movie.

Storywise then I wasn't impressed. Sure, I managed to sit through the entire movie to the very end. But I can't claim to be particularly entertained, nor enjoying what transpired on the screen.

The acting in the movie was mediocre, adequate for the movie in a way I would say.

What did work for "Epidemic" was actually the cosmetics and make-up. They managed to do some rather good make-up and special effects in terms of the wounds and injuries. Some of the zombies, however, well, not so great. But again, the effort and the love for the project was definitely showing.

Ultimately I found "Epidemic" to be a boring movie that offered no enjoyment and offered nothing interesting to the zombie genre at large. I am rating it a mere two out of ten stars. There was just too much of nothing going on, well aside from a lot of retching white goo from the cast.

ABYSMAL acting, horrible waste of time...

Warning: Spoilers
What were the filmmakers thinking?

Obviously they were thinking, let's come up with a great idea but executed it SO poorly that we shouldn't even have bothered.

Because that's what happened.

Indie movies like this absolutely infuriate me. The make up was okay and from what I've read, there was a budget...and THIS was the best they could do?

People have made a lot better, with a lot less.

Don't waste your time...spare your eyes the immense pain and your brain, the loss of IQ in watching this trash...

Vapid
bitbucketchip19 October 2021
This feels like students shot a standard zombie movie and later tried to inject a plot in an attempt to gain distribution. It's that disjointed.

Vapid daughter wants to reconnect with estranged vapid alcoholic father. She logically chooses her birthday party as the ideal setting for the pair to reconnect. Makes sense. The party is in full swing, with vapid actors attempting to fill the void in character development by acting like d-bags. It doesn't work. Eventually one of the vapid characters transforms into a vapid zombie. Various uninteresting things happen. The end.

The budget was obviously extremely low. The actors were bottom of the call sheet. Despite those limitations, they could have produced an interesting, or at least enjoyable, movie. That they failed to entertain is entirely on them. Two stars.

Acceptable 30k budget film
FurkanE30 September 2018
Surely it does not look like a top class movie, but i must confess i have seen worse pictures from hollywood's big productions. it does not give the reason behind the mess, neither does David Lynch. Make up is basic, acting's not hardwork but still, it's a 71 minutes movie.
