It has been a long time since I watched a such terrible acting in a such incredible show.

Disappointing episode

Potentially good idea that lost out to mediocre execution

I'm not quite as critical as others here but I do agree that it was pretty lackluster. There was a chance for this to have a nice romantic interlude given the backdrop of Mexico City and nice music but it lost out to a failure to complete a strong storyline and a weak script, mostly due to the dialogue.
I'd like to see Juan Pablo Castaneda in some other projects; or be able to see his other work become available.

I was rather surprised by this episode, after being greatly disappointed by the others except for my favorite first episode. The ending was realistic. They don't have to fall in love with each other. They ended up with a friendship that was perfect for the moment and the place they were at in their own lives. It was a slow, contemplative piece that was centered on his heritage and his love for his country that overshadowed the focus on the Romanoffs. The mediocrity that was felt was a reflection of him. He was a mediocre journalist, and he knew it. Hell, his boss knew it and told him as well. He now needed to make hard decisions about his life and where it was going from that moment of realization and on. The music at the end was haunting and beautiful.
She could have been better in her role. The boy in the wheelchair was more convincing as an actor than her.
Hunh?

This is a quirky series, I get that. Some of the episodes are better than others. So far, all of the episodes are better than this one. Probably because it focuses so heavily on a guy who just cannot act. Every line is delivered as if he's reading it off a teleprompter for the first time ever, which may be true. He's not good in Spanish, but he's much more wooden in English. His lack of acting just drags the episode down. Might it have been good with an actual actor? It's difficult to know.

Beautiful Love Story (between a man and a city)

Anyone who has spent a lot of time in Mexico City or is interested in history will really appreciate this episode. Both the leads (and little Nick) did an excellent job, I feel it's one of the better acted episodes. The moment and dialogue between the two leads on the Sun pyramid in Teotihuacan was magic and come on, that closing scene?! A beautiful reminder that love doesn't need to exist just between two people; sometimes the love you have for an object, an idea or a place can be equally as powerful. That was the point this is probably my favourite episode so far. Don't listen to the hate.

I would have to agree with others - bad acting, lack of chemistry, and a forgetful story. Maybe it's just me, but for the last scene I was thinking as he was walking through the square that it must of took a great deal of time and money to film but was repetitive in delivering a message of a person proud of their history. It just seemed like the director and/or writer were trying way too hard. Had to be the worst episode I had seen so far and the series seems like it's been on a downward trend....
Such a bad actor

Terrible acting and adds nothing to the series
neolier-113 April 2019
By far the worst episode of the whole series. Terrible acting by main character (in both Spanish and English). Just way too bad of an actor and the whole episode relays on him. The series could have been better off without this episode. Skip it if you can.
Unique and thoughtful. Visually great.

Warning: Spoilers
Setting aside questionable casting, pace, acting, the premise of Nick's hemophilia being due to descendancy from the Romanovs is total BS. They either didn't do their research or the writers were just really depending on the audience not having learned more about the Imperial family other than hemophilia was present and they were killed by revolutionaries.
Hemophilia only entered the family through Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna, wife of Tsar Nicholas II. She was born Princess Alix of Hesse and by Rhine to Princess Alice of the UK, a daughter of Queen Victoria, who was the origin point for the disease in the British Royal Family. Nicholas II was the first cousin of George V of the UK as their mothers were sisters, Princess Dagmar and Princess Alexandra of Denmark, but he was not descended from Victoria, and no one else but Tsarina Alexandra's children could have passed on the gene to the Romanov descendants. Today's descendants can only come from Nicholas's cousins and niblets, none of whom were known carriers.
So, this lady is either A) definitely not a Romanov, or B) picked up the hemophilia gene through a different part of her family, or C) is descended from a secret love child of either Alexandra or her daughters. No matter what, the sap about her kid being sick because she's a Romanov is just lazy writing on what could have been a compelling storyline.
