The Bear Scene

Warning: Spoilers
Okay random, but who else thought it was hilarious when Astrid screams at Shirley, mistaking her for a bear, during breakfast? I almost choked and spilled my cereal and milk. It might just be the funniest thing I've seen on the show because it was just so out of place and random!

Every Character Clicking on All Cylinders

Warning: Spoilers
Abe, already feeling betrayed by Midge, takes Noah to his job, hoping to get him employed. Once again, he finds that one of his children is keeping a big time secret from him. It turns out that Noah has more going for him than was known and Abe's role is diminished. Midge continues to engage with a doctor who is quite taken with her. Joel, who had hoped for a reconciliation, starts to see that there is more to life than he realized. Tony Shaloub continues to wallow in pain. He is crestfallen because he can no longer control everything in his family. To him it's all mathematics. A plus B equals his own version of C. This is so well done and is setting up the rest of the series. A gift to us.

Seeing Susie dancing in the Brazilian piece floored me!! I honestly didn't think much of the title of this show but it has definitely grown on me and this episode was FUNNY! Lol.

The entire Catskills story arc

Warning: Spoilers
Brilliant! So much attention to detail I kept thinking that these 3 episodes had to of cost a fortune to produce. The wardrobe, the game room, the meals, the activities; every little prop was perfect. You were immersed in the late 1950's for sure. Laughed out loud several times; Susie with the plunger, Susie's admirer, Susie dancing in the end of summer musical number. The mahjong game Lol

Love Dr. Ben he is quite taken with Midge and he may have a chance if he can fully accept her. Good sign though that Midge has already told Ben she's a comic.

Abe and Rose are getting on my nerves; sorry but can't feel sorry for Rose and Abe is one of those parents that sees his children only as extensions of himself. His wife too. Joel's parents discussing their sex life, ugh not appropriate dinner conversation and probably wishful thinking. Love the twist with Noah. Joel and Midge are morphing into a brother/sister relationship..funny don't see either one of them spending much time caring for their 2 young children.

The entire arc was uplifting, funny, and beautiful!

Abe becomes a real downer
gkmcc27 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is the episode in which Midge's father, Abe - who has always been kind of low-grade annoying - becomes a real jerk. Yes, he's upset after learning (the hard way) about Midge's comedy career, but his behavior when his son comes to Bell Labs with him is ridiculous. His preening self-importance, and disappointment when he learns (a little of) the truth about Noah's work, is overblown. I understand that both Abe and Rose are intended to be caricatures, but this episode is, to my mind, the point in the series where the writers start to take them too far (Rose will get her turn soon enough.)

(As an aside - during the season-ending employee show Midge orders a "gin martini" at the bar. A proper martini is made with gin - if one is ordering a variant, such as a vodka martini, then specifying the liquor base of the drink is appropriate.)
