Roadhouse Blues, an episode filled with great drama and extraordinary action sequences
Holt34419 January 2019
A country live band in a calm bar was great way to start the second season as it shows you how Frank is doing and what place he is in and having Alexa Davalos play Beth worked perfectly, good chemistry between the two. I'm loving the story arc with Frank having to defend Amy Bendix, it's a plot that isn't that original but it's mostly really good and it will work perfectly in this show, can't wait to see more of it and Jigsaw

What stood out most of this episode was the fight sequences, drama and new cast. The fight sequences started great and seems like it will only get better, with Jon Bernthal doing all of his stunts it can't get any better as it feels more realistic and his portrayal is believable and seriously scary in how fearsome he looks when his killing instincts comes out, magnificent.

Frank & Beth had more CHEMISTRY than a Meth Lab!
support-34324 January 2019
Marvel Execs...It's time to make a big screen version of The Punisher. Have Jon Bernthal as Frank and give Alexa Davalos (Beth) a role as Frank's love interest. She was spot on with this character. I haven't seen such a believable and magical on screen (TV or otherwise) collaboration in a very long time and in my book it tops all the other Marvel Universe romantic pair-ups I have seen. The chemistry was simply amazing...and the funny thing is they achieved this in mere minutes of the first act...it was beautiful to watch. I was reminded of scenes in earlier Punisher comic books...were there was a calm before the storm...moments when we got to see (hear) Frank as a man filled with compassion, driven by love and truth and ready to break 'many' bones and skulls to defend those virtues. Fight scenes and car chase aside this was an award winning episode IMHO.

Well done and congrats to all the cast and crew.

I'm off now to continue my binge ;-)

A dog off the leash

Putting the inevitable cancellation aside, there has always been something so unique and refreshing about the tone of this show. The way it can go from 0-60 in an instant and not seem repetitive is remarkable. Trouble always seems to follow Frank and he always relishes it.

Perfect first Episode!

I jumped up from my Couch to celebrate the first big fight in the Bar in this Episode. Its so intense, so full of good action, that you just want more and more and you don't get disappointed!

This happened to me only in one series before, which was Breaking Bad. Loved the first Season and it looks like the second Season is going to be even better!

Have fun!

A Great Start To Season 2
MekkaMax18 January 2019
This episode combines drama and action really well. The episode is able to show a new life for Frank Castle after season 1. As predictable as the episode is, Jon Berenthal makes it compelling as he puts his own take on it and shows a side of Frank that we haven't seen in a while. Throughout the episode, you as the viewer want Frank to settle down and start a new family. However with Frank being the Punisher, it doesn't last long as the climax was bloody and action packed. The action was very exciting and you can almost feel the punches that are being thrown. By the end, I was excited to see what this season could bring for us even if the show does get cancelled.

Franks back and hitting hard.
nickgray-1286219 January 2019
Well it starts again. Castles life always revolves around violence, and how episode 1 puts him in the fight is both shocking and riveting. Bernthal portrays another side to Frank that maybe he's starting to get his life together. But a soldier always finds war in the end. Amazing fight scenes and some touching moments. Bingeworthy as always. Think its gonna get messy as we go along. What a start.

Brutal.
juanbks1519 January 2019
And finally Frank is back.

I am a big fan of this series, I admit it. I've been waiting for this to come since I ended watching season one.

First thing first, I am just starting with the season as I watched episodes one and two only. I'm gonna put it into one word: Brutal.

We start with a scene where Frank is driving his van with a mysterious girl (watched the trailer? No, I didn't) and it seems they are being chased by two cars. And then, you can imagine what happens when one of them block the highway ahead. And that my friends, is music to our ears.

Time has passed, and Frank is there. Traveling, listening to blues and trying (or not) to forget his past. And of course, helping people who are in need... You know what that means, right? And then, this mysterious girl appears, and seems she's in serious trouble with serious people.

Nothing more to say, fellas. You know what to expect when you see Frank in action. Be careful, people... because Frank doesn't care whether you're a guy or a girl when you mess with him. You'll see.

We missed you, Frank. Welcome back.

Solid start for an inevitably cancelled series
ha77y73ad9719 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
First episode of the new series of the Punisher was intense in both the action and story telling. Seeing the human side of Frank Castle who's still a broken man after the death of his family and nearly killing one of his oldest friends in season 1.

Have to admit the chemistry between him and the bar maid throughout this episode was spot on, finally opening up to someone and them getting hurt again. History seems to repeat it's self!!

Then the whole reason we watch the Punisher the action hits every single note again. Who can 2 Netflix marvel series have been so good for action, daredevil and this, and 2 been so poor, iron fist and luke cage?

Overall looking forward to this series and the relationship between Frank, the Punisher and the girl that his taken under his wing.

Brilliant
FlynnBatch18 January 2019
An excellent start to a new season, with a much higher body count. Instead of adopting the slow moving pace of the first season, this sets the tone for what's to come. Setting up interesting characters and giving the bloody violence of the punisher we all know and love. As good as the first season was, it took a while to get going, but the punisher season 2 has gripped me within the first episode. Very impressed

A mature and confident season opener
DVD_Connoisseur18 January 2019
Hurtling us into the action pre-credits, we're reacquainted with Frank Castle in a bloodied and beaten state, at the wheel of a matt black van. Cue bullets and bloody carnage.

Post-credits, we're allowed to catch breath and understand how Frank ended up in his current state. It's a mature and well paced episode, strong on character development.

I'm genuinely excited to see how things pan out in this second season. There's a wonderful sense of continuity and the promise of thrills and spills down the line.

10 out of 10. A jewel in the crown of Marvel. I'll be savouring every episode. With Netflix losing its Marvel licenses to Disney's streaming service, it's difficult to imagine a gritty show like this after 2019.

, but somewhat disappointing for a first returning episode
bennyjg24 January 2019
Overall a good episode and good writing, but with some execution leaks. The main female victim was such a bad actress in this that it somewhat spoiled it and made it kind of painfully awkward to watch the scenes that she was in. Some parts of the fight scenes were too obviously scripted and slow in the acting, in a "you punch me here, I'm not going to try blocking it, and then I'll punch you here" kind of a way. Which somewhat takes you out of the episode reminding you that you're watching a series, rather than keeping you immersed, as some of the other fight scenes did. Also another kind of new cliché psychopath, that I feel like they could have cast better. There were also multiple clear continuity errors in the editing and cutting that should have been cleaner. But Frank was basically on point as usual. And I also liked Beth and her role.

Impressive but unnecessary
iniyan_arul10 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Asusual a problem rising for a action hero, where he helps a inacent, unlike the 1st season I don't see the start as a attractive plot. There were more possibilities and options to rescue that victim kid without wreck the bar, but Frank just risks the precious relationship he just got that last night and let a raid happen at the bar.

As far as I saw Franky in the 1st season he could be more evasive protective and intelligent (like John Reese in person of interest who is the abstract class character of Frank Castle) in S2 also.. let's see

Season 1 was good tv but This is a Masterpiece !
nicofreezer8 October 2021
I really wanted not to love Punisher, because its marvel and Marvel s*ck. I watch Season 1 and it was good, sometime boring and something very very good like épisode 1, 12 and 13.

But nothing like this one ! The season 2 opener is a true TV Masterpiece, " Roadhouse blues" should have been a movie, a 90 minutes movie about this story.

I was on the edge of my seat even at 2:30am and tired, the atmosphère the passion between Franck and Beth, the mystery, the fights , the choises Frank have to make, go away to be safe of stay to exist, beautiful episode about a man having to make important choises, about a great man , heartbroken but meeting a Wonderful little family, a family ready to Welcome him. For maybe a chance to be happy again. Beautiful 45 minutes Masterpiece 9.5/10.

Who are these Women!!
pressboard24 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
My wife and I were blown away by the knife (and other) fighting scenes in the bar and the bathroom of S02E01. These stunt? women walked on like they were entering an MMA cage fight. Totally focused on acquiring the girl with the film for their boss. They stole the show! Totally Bada** gang. It was nice to have a change from only gun fights. The episode was well staged and went from nice country bar and music to violent free-for-all. I would really like to see this crew again doing what they do best - kicking butt. Best fight scenes since Daredevil series.

A bloody punch beginning and a great start of the series.
cruise0120 January 2019
The Punisher (4 out of 5 stars).

The Punisher is back with the second season and the first episode so far has a wild bloody punch. Jon Bernthal delivers another wild performance as the dark anti hero character. This time traveling from one state line motel to another. He comes across trouble at a bar were he meets a young girl who is on the run from some Russian gangster and Frank meets a bartender who he has a casual encounter. But the bartender tries to connect with Frank which brings back some emotions from his dark past. Then, things really escalate when the young girl is attacked from a group of bad guys at the bar. Frank does not hold back with his attacks. It was a wild fight sequence. Which was a great start for the series. The bathroom fight scene was intense with Frank against three bad guys. And the bloody bar fight was heart pumping exciting.

Josh Stewart playing the new antagonist John Pilgrim seems promising. Overall, it was a good start. Jon Bernthal is bada** as the character. And when the action starts it does not hold back. I am exciting to see the rest of the episodes.

Could've been more...
m-th-crooijmans26 January 2019
I was intrigued by the teasing trailer. I was enthusiastic to watch it..... if only I found myself over and over more and more.... well.... slightly bored actually. The story is good, acting is convincing nothing wrong with that. 1. When you see the trailer you'd expect a rolling ball of violence, only to learn he did most of that already way before the very first episode. 2. Tempo.... the number of episodes of (so far) at least the first season could have been done with half the amount.

Started off well but was a train wreck by the end
cary_howe11 June 2019
Berthal was a perfect choice but they obviously didn;t have a clue what to do with the series. First season is over the top violence with minimal story. Second season they pretty much threw out any real storytelling and I couldn;t figure out half of what was supposed to be going on. The worst of it was the series descended into straight up violence porn. I hate torture porn and violence porn is just about as bad. I made it into episode 12 out of 13 but there was just one mutilation too many apparently because they couldn't think of anything else to do so I turned it off and have no intention of ever finishing episode 12 or watching episode 13. I just don;t care. They need to retitle the series to "Just Plain Punishing to Watch". By the end there was nothing enjoyable about the series. They tried bringing in the Karen character so there was some one likeable but they even made her more morally ambiguous which I didn't want to see. See season one if you want to see a hint of what it might have become if the scripts had been better. Second season is more about characters being beaten to a bloody pulp only to come back for more the very next day. Any hint of reality went out the door. I was upset they canceled the Marvel super hero series but now I'm glad they did.

Hit the Road (Short review)
highmarksreviews10 May 2019
"Roadhouse Blues" coupled yet another haunting, intense Jon Bernthal performance to further a steady-building story, culminating in two of the show's most impressive action sequences and plenty of forward momentum.
