Sex & Nudity

  • Adora and Catra, two leading young women, kiss in the end.
  • She ra's uniform is a bit tight, and it reveals her legs, but it's not as revealing as her original counterpart.
  • A part cat-part woman and a woman kiss at the end.

Violence & Gore

  • Minor cartoon violence. Fight scenes only get intense a few times, and blood is not shown.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A character is seen to enter a drunken-like state due to magical infections to the Sword of Protection in a few episodes.
  • Several characters can be seen holding wine glasses and the characters enter a pub at one point.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • There are scenarios where sympathetic characters are in peril.
  • Very upfront depictions of verbal and physical abuse from a maternal figure. Can be quite disturbing at times to young viewers.
  • "Promise" and "Remember" (season three in general, really) are very emotionally heavy episodes that can be very upsetting to some people.
  • Throughout the series there are themes of abuse, abandonment, heartbreak and self-destruction. The show is mostly lighthearted and funny, which evens it out the majority of the time, but it can be heavy for anyone of any age who is sensitive to that kind of stuff.
  • Shadow Weaver's treatment of Catra and Adora may disturb some.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • Only a couple of minor kisses throughout the entire series. The last episode of the series includes a slightly more passionate, though still brief, kiss with Catra and Shera (two young women).

Violence & Gore

  • A character's back gets horribly clawed in the season one finale. No blood is shown.
  • In "Save the Cat", Catra is electrocuted by a chip embedded into her neck.
  • Catra "dies" (uses up her nine lives) multiple times throughout the show. Suffocating, falling from a great height, electrocution, you name it.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A character appears to die in an episode. Nothing graphic, she walks into a room that appears to be engulfed in fire, character unknowingly survives. The character's grief can seem very real and the "death" may frighten young viewers.
  • In one episode two characters relive traumatic childhood memories resulting in one leaving the other dangling off a cliff in tears. The character then lets go, seemingly embarrassing the possibility of death. This episode in general, titled "Promise", is very emotionally intense.
  • A character becomes a distorted and shadowy version of herself in the season three finale which might frighten young viewers.
  • The third and fourth seasons have some mild themes pertaining to suicide/self destructiveness and pretty prevalent themes of depression (both mostly surrounding the character Catra).
