A sequel done right, but quite different.

Indeed, I felt Hellbox 2 exceeded the original in every way a sequel can. Largely the same cast as the first film, introducing new characters as needed, the main cast give varying performances, but most are on the better side of any horror film I've seen. The lesser the character, the lesser the performance but hey, this is horror, and for horror it's not bad. There are sequences of such nastiness that even I had to flinch a couple times. The new demonic evil Alastor it's a great addition to the saga. Unfortunately along with the gory stuff there isn't time for the horror elements used in the first one.

Recommended for all fans of the genre.

Doesn't Match the Original, but Still Awesome

Hellbox 2 is a good sequel of one of the best tributes to horror saga Hellraiser, now we have a new villain Alastor and his minions from hell, to capture the hellbox once again, but now a priest has the box with him, and tries to stop this evil horde for good. It has a really cool dark tone and atmosphere with the unique look into hell with some incredible terrifying yet confusing visuals which blew me away.

This is a horror film that verges on a dark fantasy, still love the original, that´s why i gave this a 7.

Much better then the first Hellbox

Is so good to see something original from the Hellbox series, and it was a shame that Alastor´s friends didnt get much screen time but the film was trying something original and it works. The ending was spot-on and brought the whole film together. If your a fan of this type of movies and can accept a good story without as much gore then you'll enjoy it.

The priest in this sequel experiences horrible daylight visions, that take him, on a dark journey to hell.

It´s a special tribute to all hellraiser fans. 9 out of 10.

A perfect sequel to the oustanding Hellbox

Everyone really did a fantastic job in this one, terrific sequel, loved every minute of it. The music is perfect it makes it all worthwhile. Loved the new villain Alastor the prince of the dark dimension, and his guards, great special effects by Lx studios, i like b-movies and this one is a must.

A solid 8.

A piece of art in low budget style

I found the film to be very good and even better than the first one. But this film had a more modern take on it, very suspenseful, gory, and action-packed. Cool ending as well. So thumbs up for this sequel 10/10

Alastor and the hellbox in a Gruesome and Great Sequel

This movie is a must see if you enjoyed the first one ( and I can't imagine you haven't ). Hellbox II is a logical continuing of the saga that l ike its predecessor, it's a tale of pure terror. Last movie from actress Francisca Serralha, that gives us a special performance.

I highly recommend this film to anyone who likes any type of horror. You won't be disappointed. Perhaps the most fantastic aspect to the story is how the dark dimension fits so well in the story, and Alastor the new lead in this saga. The music hitting its climatic height at the right cues. I hope they can expand upon the mythology of the dark dimension and the origin of Alastor. Definitely worth watching.

The dark prince Alastor and the sequel of the hellbox

For a Hellraiser fan, like me, this little tribute, has everything a fan want. The pacing of the movie is good, so when the priest opens the mythical box, Alastor appears with the demons from the dark dimension to claim it, it´s the eternal battle between good and evil, but it works so fine here, love the fact that finally the master of hell appears, i won´t forget his evil laughter anytime soon, the effects were impressive considering the budget.

The cinematography and editing in the movie was perfect to show a hellish like atmosphere that is continuous in the movie while in the scenes with the demons and Alastor. The music as well is portrayed brilliantly, I thought the director did very well. The make-up and gore was nothing to make it seem fake, I actually didn't notice anything odd about it, it seemed very well done for this movie.

Another good sequel, that i will buy on blu-ray. For now i´ll have to wait for the 3rd chapter that´s already filming.

Unique and twisted tale of the hellbox series

The true nature of this story is ambition & greed, as people want to open objects that should never be opened, the curse is upon the priest as the demon with horns tells him, that is greed took over him and now he must give to him the box of his own free will, that´s when the trouble begins, as he summons all the hordes of hell, there´s one that looks like a crow so ugly and visceral, this is one of most gorgeous low budget short movies, i´ve seen to date.

They took they´re time to offer us, this unique tale of horror, Rui Constantino is such a great writer and director he takes us into a nightmare full of twisted events, the storyline of the film is a very intriguing one and very original. We are given a glimpse into the darkest corners of the human soul.

Hellbox II is here to say to all viewers, that portuguese movies are growing and this series willl take their place in the history of horror. You want horror ? you want originality ? see the hellbox series.

Something fresh and a good dark movie.

Not your typical horror movie. But really entertaining me throughout the end. Gory, dark ambient, not much of cheesy lines. I love it ! A great time well spent.

Creative sequel

The imagination of this film is awesome. The first one is also good but in the second story is replaced by sheer brilliancy in the details of horror imagery. Secondly, I want to say that this a movie all fans of horror would have to see. It is the spirit of Constantino´s early vision. The creatures from hell are all back from the clips that I saw it seemed more than promising and it sure was a great horror movie. The special effects are wonderfully inventive and have clearly had more money thrown at them. "Hellbox II" is a glossier and more muscular beast than its predecessor. Pushed forward by a strong cast (featuring Francisca Serralha that unfortunately died in January) and Constantino has the priest and Hugo Silvestre as Alastor. This new monster lead is incredible, hope he can be in the next chapter.

If you're a fan of this franchise, witness the ascension of evil

This movie succeeds if you're a fan of Constantino Films movies, It follows the mythos quite logically, and adds a good deal of conjecture to the "reality" of the prince of the dark dimension, and his guards of hell.

For the first time we see the master of hell ( quite good ), i know that they´re filming a new chapter, so the hellbox will return, love all about this movie, and it´s really great to know that portuguese studios can make this kind of movies.

Its an engaging story and thought-provoking plot is enough to keep any viewer entertained, not to mention the violence and gore.

Decent Hellbox sequel

Reasonably good performances from most cast members, visually tight direction from Rui Constantino, great make-up effects and lots of cool imagery (including a dream sequence that you're not likely to forget) Die-hard fans of the Hellbox series might be disappointed by the lack of more monsters and even the minions they have very few screen time, ) but if you're open-minded you might enjoy the movie for what it is.

A sequel worthy of his successor

Respect to this director that proves that portuguese direction can be great, in this sequel he proves that he has a great talent not only to direct but has an actor, but for me the actor Hugo Silvestre has Alastor it´s great, loved this character, whenever he is on screen it´s pure magic, is presence is top, the guards are awesome, they look highly original. Throughout the film there are a series of visually spectacular set-pieces. The look and atmosphere of Hellbox 2 belies is very modest budget. Rui Constantino and his team consistently make the most of their meagre resources and it's never obvious that this is so low-budget. The performances are universally strong.

I highly recommend this horror classic. In time this series will become a cult classic for portuguese viewers.

A solid second movie, it's deeper than you think.

The movie opens up in the forgotten church, when somebody steals the hellbox from a crypt that a wheel unfolds from one of the sides, the designer of this first box must be honored, it´s excelent, inside lays the hellbox, very good stuff. The curse begins as the priest unveils the secret of the hellbox, and a demon comes from the dark dimension to get the hellbox to take it to the hell master.

Great sequel! I enjoyed the hell out of it... I want more, really want more... The acting is superb and the story will keep you interested and on the edge of your seat the whole way through!

A lot better than most in the genre

Wow. this movie was really amazing. Certainly better than the first one.

This was a pretty good film in the series, and a cool new hell minions crew, with a crazy new lead demon, nasty surprises throughout the film, and a great addition to this new portuguese franchise. One of the highlights of the film and perhaps some might think as a stumble is the addition of the creative, twisted, bigger box that holds the hellbox, it seems like a big puzzle box, and if you decipher the traps, the hellbox is yours. The climatic scene when the lead demon appears to the priest in dark smoke was so awesome. And the last tribute to actress Francisca Serralha that leaves one of her best works to date.

Overall, a good bloody fun movie with some good acting and some freaky demons.

I really enjoyed the movie! Well done! You'll never know with follow up movies but this was great! It had suspense, gore, blood, not to mention Alastor who steals the show completely, along with the creatures from the dark dimension ( Absolutely Outstanding ) Different and unexpected, worth seeing more than once.

After the sucess of the first hellbox, i was very anxious to see the next chapter, after the horrifying events that took place in part one, the box is in the hands of a priest that opens it, releasing the power of the dark dimension, and with it Alastor this dark leader wants the box, that destroyed Mephisto in the first one, loved the way he talks to the priest telling him, that he as greed inside him. Just to lure him on giving the box, the hellmaster also appears in this and it´s glorious, there´s so much gore and hellish elements, that wasn´t shown in the trailers, that i was surprised.

Overall, "Hellbox II" is an extraordinary sequel that must not be missed by horror fans.

A Solid Sequel, True to the Original

If you're a fan of the 1st movie, then you have to see this one, since it's the best sequel you can get. If you like a movie with a charismatic bad guy and if you enjoyed the 1st movie, then i would definitely say "give it a watch!"

The birth of a new horror icon "Alastor"

Though very similar in feel to the original, "Hellbox 2" surpasses its predecessor with the scariest and most frenetic entry. Picking up right where part one left off, we see Alastor the new emissary of evil leave the dark dimension down to earth, to seek the Hellbox, what comes next it´s a fable of horror. The acting is a step up from the original film and the production looks better, but this is still low-budget horror. Nevertheless, its minimal, simplistic approach works for what it is. There are some genuinely creepy moments in the film, it´s 10/10

A Solid Sequel, True to the Original

It´s the perfect sequel in the horror genre, if you like a movie with a charismatic bad guy and if you enjoyed the 1st movie, then i would definitely say "give it a watch!" The special effects were not the greatest, but what the hell, it´s a b-movie.

A very special sequel

I really enjoyed the first one so wanted to see the sequel, this is a good movie. It is a lot better, and it has great potential for more sequels in the future, if they play their cards well. The design of the corridors of hell was phenomenal, Alastor is undoubtedly the star of the show.

One can only hope. After all, evil is everywhere.

Hellbox of doom

This sequel brought new terrific things, walls of hell, full of creatures of doom, and a priest that makes the mistake of opening a box, now Alastor comes to get the box, and he must give it to him, but he knows, it´s wrong, so he must face the forces of darkness, that lure him, from all corners of his church.

Love this movie so much. 8/10.
