Entertaining if shallow

Nordic Gris. Unfortunately this show tries to appeal to those who like edginess and those who like soaps, and as a result it's a jumble. It's biggest fault is it's simplistic, immature view of hard core politics and media. The main characters have several secrets that any investigative reporter could ferret out by just paying attention. For example the P.M. is Gay and has a lover, the woman she wants to place in power, and the media has no clue! They sleep together in the same Hotel suite??? The characters are never deeply explored, and behavior is explained in Soapy terms. Most irritating of all is the presence of not 1 oddball character but 3 or 4. Enjoy it but just don't take it seriously. The final take hints strongly at a second season.

Sometimes a steady watch is just perfect.

If you like 'Thicker than water' 'Borgen' then this is right up your street. If you like blood guns and the usual it's not. The script has a good pace and the engagement with the actors is good. If your a huge fan of most things nordic and fancy a lockdown binge watch, it's gold.....Bring on season 2 please...And make it available world wide.

The character of Joel

I don't know if this was on purpose but the character of Joel is one of the most irritating annoying looking people I've ever had the displeasure of laying eyes on. You just want to punch him by just looking at him. I haven't got far enough into the show to give it a thumbs up but if you like looking at annoying people then you should watch it.

Excellent Swedish Political Drama
crumpytv23 November 2021
This was well paced and each episode was absorbing, something that cannot be said of UK dramas these days.

There is a strong cast with a few familiar faces from shows like Modus, Bonus Family, The Bridge, Jordskott with some excellent performances throughout.

A quite excellent subtly amusing performance from Barbro Larsson as a detective.

There is also a very strange performance from Olle Sarri as unhinged Uncle Joel, which had to be tongue in cheek surely. His hairstyle has to be the most ridiculous in TV history, it must have been intentional.

Don't pay any attention to the negativity in the reviews. Give this a go and you will not be disappointed.

Underperformance

Very dissapointing, sentimental swedish series. No at all at the Mankell level. Acting ok, but casting bad, especially brother of David. Nice attractive setting and sunny environment however, .... the latter not so Swedish.

Get in the sea.

Warning: Spoilers
I watched this so that you don't have to. Scandinavian series have been consistently good for years but this is just hopeless. The opening scene resurfaces towards the end (literally). It shouldn't.

It's difficult to know where to start with the criticism. The casting must be the worst casting in cinematic history. The direction is off-key throughout. The script woeful, and the actors -if you can call them that- are school-play calibre. The pace of some scenes is mistimed and even the score fails to uplift what are supposed to be the more dramatic scenes.

The lead character's brother is possibly the most irritating character ever to appear in front of a camera. The Haircut is ridiculous beyond belief and distracts you from what's going on in every scene he's in.

The only redeeming feature is the plot -but that's handled badly and doesn't stand a chance with the poor quality of everything else. Give it a miss.
