In India, its a public holiday during election day however all the IT company employees are showed as working.
When Komalavalli (Varalaxmi) speaks to Rendu (Radha Ravi) on the phone, she mentions that, "Sundar (Vijay) visited Canada and stayed for three weeks. Three weeks later, Sundar was the "EXCLUSIVE" news in "ALL" TVs/Newspapers."
Basically, a news item is "Exclusive" if it appears in only one (or a few) TVs/Newspapers. If a news item appears in ALL TVs/Newspapers, that news is not "Exclusive"/
The character "Pappa" is said to be from Canada but the multiple scenes with her shows its clearly Las Vegas and not Canada. The first scene at the restaurant you can see palm trees in the background and the white famous 'welcome" sign that is only in Las Vegas. The second scene where she is in a hotel room, you can see the Las Vegas strip in the background. In the third scene where she walking on the sidewalk, everyone is wearing summer clothes which is not possible as the date in the movie was Feb 2018, which is winter in Canada.
In the "Ayodhya Kuppam" scene, Sundar (Vijay) mentions that "Irrespective of which country or city that I'm in, I'll travel to India on election-day in order to cast my vote.".
If this is the case, then the panic amidst media & Indian-companies in the movie's first scene is unnecessary because everyone will know that Sundar is coming to India only to cast his vote (as he routinely does) and not to buy/shut-down any Indian-Company.
In the "Ayodhya Kuppam" scene, Sundar (Vijay) mentions that "When I was young, after my father's death, it took my mother's enormous effort to get me educated, and even I have studied very "Furiously (verithanama)", and I have attended every possible job-interview that I could."
So, it seems very unlikely that Sundar, who grew up amidst such difficulties, would terminate 22,000 Canadian employees from their jobs and get 10,000 of them deported (as mentioned by Komalavalli (Varalaxmi) to Rendu (Radha Ravi) in a phone-call).
