Someone might want to jostle the people at Wikipedia just to see if they’re awake, since a lot of stars are hard to keep tabs on by researching a site that’s supposed to have a wealth of information on so many different famous individuals. Ola Ray, who’s biggest claim to fame at this point is playing the part of Michael Jackson’s girlfriend in the music video for Thriller, has been a busy woman throughout the years and is still going. There was talk of how she had a bit of trouble gaining any royalties from her time spent in Thriller

A decade ago, when an online video went viral, it was frontpage news. Now, with YouTube being big business and new viral content coming daily, the original viral sensations seem almost quaint. But believe me, back in 2007, the video of a group of Asian prison inmates dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” was a global sensation. And now, 12 years after the viral video, Netflix tells the real story behind the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in “Happy Jail.”

As seen in the trailer for the five-part docu-series, “Happy Jail” takes a look at the aforementioned detention center in the Philippines and sheds light on how these inmates became huge dancing sensations a decade ago and what has happened in the years since.

Orphan Black, the sci-fi hit that netted Tatiana Maslany an Emmy for her shape-shifting lead performance, is continuing with a new written and audio installment that will feature Maslany’s voice.
Serial Box, a start-up that offers subscribers access to serialized stories in both e-book and audio form, is teaming up with Temple Street, a division of Boat Rocker Studios, to extend the show, which ended its U.S. run on BBC America in 2017. The companies said the new episodes will be the “length of an average commute” and will appear weekly.
The project follows Serial Box’s recent teaming with Marvel Entertainment for original stories based on Black Panther, Jessica Jones, Black Widow, and Thor.
For the new Orphan Black installment, Serial Box has signed Malka Older as showrunner and Mishell Baker, Lindsay Smith, and Heli Kennedy as writers. Employing the approach of a TV writers room, Serial Box...

When Rashida Jones paid tribute to her father Quincy Jones recently at a Netflix Fysee event in Hollywood, she assured him there would never be another person like him.
“I hope not,” the elder Jones cracked.
“No, there won’t be,” Rashida replied. “Don’t worry.”
The occasion for the tribute was a screening of the Netflix documentary Quincy, which Rashida directed with Alan Hicks. Over a span of 124 minutes it illustrates why there will never be, and could never be, another Quincy Jones. His accomplishments are too rare, too varied and unprecedented to be repeated.
“The feedback’s been great,” Rashida says of the film, which earlier this year won a Grammy Award for Best Music Film. “The whole purpose to make the film was really to give people the feeling of hanging out with my dad, like the kind of intimate hang that I personally want you to have.

Aaron Carter is speaking out and clarifying comments he made about Michael Jackson's alleged "inappropriate" behavior. On Monday, news broke about the 31-year-old singer after a video clip of Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition released. Carter, who is on the reality TV series, brought up an alleged experience with the "Thriller" star. In the short clip, the "Fool's Gold" singer briefly talks about Jackson once being "a little bit inappropriate." While he didn't share the context of his encounter or further explain his experience (at least not in the video footage that was released), Carter took to Twitter to clarify...

She debuted “Me!,” her tantalizing first tease of the TS7 metamorphosis, a duet with Brendon Urie from Panic! At the Disco. So much going on. The pastels. The rainbows. The French dialogue. The lovingly framed portrait of the Dixie Chicks on the wall. Her yee-haw go-go boots. Her Pattie Boyd bouffant. The “Delicate”-style vocoder vocals. The Jacques Demy umbrellas. So much disco, so much panic. Her new third cat.

The esteemed Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto was back in the news over the summer, when the New York Times reported that he was so irked by the song selection at a favorite Manhattan restaurant, he politely wrote to the chef and offered to take charge of the playlist. Something about the story felt typically Sakamoto: the confidence, the sensitivity, the unswerving belief that music demands to be taken a little more seriously.
The 66-year-old is being honored as Asian Filmmaker of the Year at Busan, in recognition of a soundtrack oeuvre stretching back to Nagisa Oshima’s “Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence” in 1983. He’s the first composer to receive the prize, and it’s hard to argue with the choice. Other Asian film composers may have amassed larger bodies of work, but few can rival Sakamoto’s international clout, cultivated over a career that’s embraced pop stardom, avant-garde experimentation and political activism.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of film critics two questions and publishes the results on Monday.
This week’s question: The last few days have been extremely trying. And sometimes, when the world feels like it’s folding in on itself, people turn to the movies for a pick-me-up or some other kind of self-care.
To that end, we asked our panel of critics to select their favorite comfort film. Their choices run the gamut from Busby Berkeley musicals to “The Tree of Life.”

Oh, hamburgers... We've attempted to put every South Park movie reference and parody into one mega list.
Parody is easy; any Average Joe can imitate the Christian Bale Batman voice for a cheap laugh. You need to bring something else to it, something decidedly unique to make it standout. That’s where South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker excel.
South Park is steadily the best place for satire on television because the writers take aim at a specific news story, TV show, trend, or movie, and then push it to some extremely bizarre place that is completely unexpected. A known anti-Semite like Mel Gibson making Passion of the Christ is a joke that writes itself, but having him run around, throwing feces in full Braveheart make-up is some absurdity that only South Park would attempt.
