A dramatized documentary about the life of Wallis Simpson: the American multi-divorcee who married King Edward VIII shortly after he abdicated as King of Britain on account of his insisting on marrying her, which was not acceptable to parliament nor the other royals. This was a timely production, as currently, another divorced American is scheduled to marry a member of the British royal family(Prince Harry), although he certainly will never be king. Additionally, she is of mixed Caucasian and African American heritage.. Times have changed! ....The actors chosen to play the royal couple: Georgina Rich, and Alex Avery, were well made up to look remarkably like the historical couple. The several commentators, together, contributed to the general theme that Wallis was at least as much the victim of circumstances as the perpetrator of an outsized taboo ambition.....The impression is given that she would have been happy remaining as Edward's mistress, even after he became king,: a status that was acceptable to the prime minister. However, it was Edward who insisted that that they be married, king or ex- king....The production starts with Wallis's beginnings in Baltimore and takes us through the various acquaintances and husbands that eventually lead to her meeting and charming the prince. though still married. It spends a small amount of time on her activities during her later decades, culminating in the sad reclusive life of her last years, after Edward's death. Ultimately, it was mostly a wasted life, she being incapable of bearing children, and having little productive to do during her life, aside from household chores and parties. See it on YouTube
