I love you.

Intercourse packs a great deal of tricky emotional content into ten minutes, yet the end result never seems rushed. You find yourself simultaneously connecting with and feeling fully disconnected from both characters. Is she using him? Is he using her? What would that even mean in this situation? Marcus Vogel excels at the 'nice guy' ambiguity of Felix - in an intimate moment Felix looks at Sofia with such devotion, then after she expects him to pay her, he looks at her with barely concealed contempt. Amalia Holm, meanwhile, uses a more reserved form of performance which leaves you guessing about Sofia's motives, but never allowing the character to fall into any type of easy gold-digging cliche. The final moments leave you questioning more than ever - the only sure thing of the film is that every time the characters say, "I love you," you believe it a little less.
