An important film for all Canadians to see
todduls10 October 2019
This is an important film for all Canadians to see that exposes the tragedy of the "sixties scoop" and its lingering effects on Indigenous Canadians to this day. Bravo for the producers making such an important film with limited resources. Get it on iTunes if you want it!

Outstanding Dramatic Contribution to Indigenous Canadian History
Callalily324 June 2019
Having just had the unexpected pleasure of viewing this beautiful film, I cannot find words to adequately express how moved I was. The screenplay and acting had me in tears. Roz Owen brings a refreshing approach to a very important subject by showing how the 60s scoop deeply affected not only the children involved, but also the white Canadian families who told themselves they were doing the right thing by adopting indigenous children who had been ripped from their homes. Underlying racism inevitably does lasting damage to all. I hope this fine film receives the commercial distribution it deserves. An excellent score makes it all the more enjoyable.

Rivetting and emotional drama

Had the pleasure of seeing this film at the Oakville Film Festival. Met the director/writer Roz Owen after the Q&A. Well done all around: acting, screenplay and a beautiful score. A sad piece of Canadian history we all should learn and understand.

Must see movie

My wife and I saw this movie at the Oakville Festival and were very impressed. It's a painful story but told beautifully. I was not particularly well informed about the Sixties Scoop but this movie introduced me to the subject in a moving and credible way. And, while the movie is both serious and frank, it's also a successful entertainment. I can't recommend this movie enough - it's an afternoon or evening VERY well spent.

PS music is terrific

A bland film..
LaxFan9428 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I found this film to be really bland with no real plot. Firstly, it's unrealistic that Pippi would ever get bailed out by her estranged "white brother". That's right, I said white because it seems that many Native characters in film always get adopted by white families. Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence in real life and in film. It appears to me that Pippi can't ever just get to be herself, her own person with her own Indigenous culture. That's all she ever needed in this film. But it was never about her but rather the white family that she only knew. Again here, as with so many other films where Natives are the main characters, the focus is on whites "saving them" from harm. Even for this Canadian made film, Natives are always put on the backburner. Anyway, for bland film, I still give this one a 7 out of 10.

Must Watch for ALL Canadians

I was so incredibly lucky to see this film at the Whistler Film Festival in the Fall of 2018, followed by a question and answer session with Roz Owen. The movie is pure magic. It brings to the audience a story that is many Sixties Scoop Survivor's story. A story that is not know by most Canadians, but needs to be. Trouble is the Garden is authentic, heartfelt, and brutally honest. It's a must watch for all Canadians. I'm so happy that it's finally available to everyone!
