Nathan Lane in a good episode

Warning: Spoilers
This one really worked. Nathan Lane was fun as a clever, dangerous, but oddly sympathetic man. Also, treasure hunt episodes are usually fun.

Elizabeth really shown in this one too, as she was revealed to be as resourceful as Red. This one really drove home that she was becoming him.

That was fun again

Warning: Spoilers
After the shocking occurrence of Tom's death, this was the first episode which was a joy to watch in my opinion. I did not like the way they made Liz into this "survival-Rambo-lady" as it was just inopportune and I do not want to see Elisabeth living in a wooden shack and running around killing people like it would fit to her character - it does not! I want to see classic Blacklist action with a criminal getting arrested through the charming teaming of the taskforce with Raymond Reddington. This is exactly what we got in this episode: We have a untrustworthy antagonist, great conversations between characters (eg Reddingtons talk with Cooper at the beginning or Aram's enthusiasm for a treasure hunt), Glen popping up and of cause a brilliant plan by Reddington that makes everyone smile watching it happen. Elizabeth is still on her "dark path", but is not the absolute centre of this episode and does not behave that much out of character as she did in the last few ones.

I do not want to give away too much of the plot for the case you have not watched "Abraham Stern" yet , but if you want to see an enjoyable episode of The Blacklist, here you go!

A good old-fashioned "romp"

Warning: Spoilers
Treasure hunt stories are always entertaining, and when they come via James Spader and Nathan Lane, then it's jackpot time!

Liz is getting darker, and spending a lot more time over Red's "threshold". Given what she's been through (and her genetic makeup) it's not surprising, and neither is her resourcefulness.

If you didn't at least smile at the V8 vacuums, check your sense of humour settings.

Glen is always excellent value too, Clark Middleton you are missed.

A penny for my thoughts
foamythefearsome5 October 2022
The penny returns and moves from criminal to criminal in a memorable 100th episode of the series, which is anything but serious and ever so entertaining because of it.

Lane and Spader worked very well together as their characters are similar in many ways, and both actors excel at portraying criminals of this sort. I won't give anything away, but I love how Red's own agenda and the interest of the bureau align once again, even though they want different things.

I was also impressed by Keen in this episode. Her confrontation at the end of the last episode was clumsy, and the way she masked it showed why they need Kaplan, but she has shown to be resourceful in rectifying her mistake in multiple ways. I like her darker side as we've seen it since the passing of Tom.

Clever Heist Episode
Hitchcoc24 November 2022
Those four rare pennies come into play here. Abraham Stern (played wonderfully by Nathan Lane) needs the final penny to fulfill a dream. Red enlists those two characters who have become a delightful addition to the show, to set up the robbing of the Denver Mint. This is all very far fetched, but most movies and show where there is a big time heist depend a lot on coincidence and luck. Red is funny and plays off the dangerous Stern quite well. Liz killed one of Tom's assailants but now needs to get rid of the body. Not so easy because a detective is keeping an eye on her. So she resorts to some pretty ugly stuff. Delightful episode.
