A day in Connecticut
fmwongmd4 May 2020
A slice of life with ordinary people doing ordinary things. Nothing much happens but isn't that the point?

AVOID - High ratings are skewed

I don't understand why this movie is portraying Connecticut as if it's half way around the world. Seriously, it's under one hour train ride from New York City. Joke

It seems like all the rave reviews here are from people who have a personal connection with this low budget stinker.

Strong for Rebecca
gensbill20 March 2019
I think with these small films the few people who choose to write reviews are either friends or enemies of those involved, so it's hard to get a read on the movie. I am neither.

Look, the budget for the film was $8k. The acting was a little shaky and the camera work won't win any prizes, but the story was good and Rebecca Strong not only can sing, but she's also compelling as an actress as well - there's something about her.

It's worth the view if only for her.

Low budget but the story makes it great

I love stories like this. Especially being from the northeast I've definitely relate to the setting. I would recommend to anyone who is dealing wish family issues of this kind. The acting was superb and at times It gets a little cringy but I think it is a great understanding of certain family situations

Good!

It took me a little to get into the story but after everything unfolded with te tragedy that Tommy faced and a beautiful scene with the mother and Marie. I sobbed. And at the end I was impressed with how much it made me smile as much as tear up. It was a good watch.

Great indie film dealing with real life issues and moving forward
dcberrie29 December 2018
I love watching indie films over the big budget blockbuster movies as you can often find the hidden gems that are so creative and raw. This film deals with real life issues and in that respect makes the film very relatable. The flashback sequences help to piece together the history of what each character is struggling with. We see how they cope in their own way and ultimately take steps to move forward. Interspersed with humor to lighten the mood, overall I found it very heartwarming. I thought it was very well acted for a small film and loved the original songs by Rebecca Strong.

Sweet, low key movie about family and relationships and I have no relation to anybody involved with this movie.

Route 80 is a nostalgic look at trying to go home again.
semirzian14 November 2018
Route 80 is a simple, yet heartfelt story, of the main character (Tommy) returning home from the big city to try and deal with his family and his complicated past. A nice allegory about returning home after being gone so long, you have to reintroduce yourself to family, friends and, sometimes, even yourself.

Not a story you see often in movies!
SandyS1215 November 2018
We enjoyed this indie film very much. It's a very raw look at the life of a broken american family that sticks together and accepts one another. You see stories like this happen in real life and this movie definitely made many parts feel real. A little heavy on the language, but overall a very interesting movie.

"Realistic Life"
kodiakblues31 January 2019
Most films focus attention on character actions. These visual "actions" tell the story from scene to scene, beginning to end. Route 80 tells its tale in a world of hesitations and indecisions. Through the observation of character "interactions" the viewer starts to understand these individuals and their relationships to each other. Just like finding a group photo made into a jigsaw puzzle, the viewer doesn't know if there are any missing pieces until they are put together. " Life like" personal camera work, subtle performances, meaningful soundtrack, and creative editing make this artful film worth seeing.
