A below average movie. Theni was very well captured, awesomatic cinematography. Mahendran's & Bhaskar's roles were nicely designed.

Stunning camerawork, nothing else

A weak storyline, but a fabulous cinematography. A few characters were unnecessary, and the length of the songs were beyond acceptable. It's a watchable light hearted movie.

What a Simple, Beautiful piece of art !
eshshiv24 March 2018
This film is just simple. Simple, funny, and beautiful !

The background music couldn't have been more perfect, and the cinematography is just so colorful and vibrant ! The dialogues are extremely simply, subtly funny and non-pompous.

The cast execute their roles with aplomb, bringing the simple characters to life in a very amusing and appealing way !

Watch it for the direction, the subtle comedy, the actors and the music !

Just watch Maheshinte Prathikaram
akhil0278 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Nimir maybe an okayish watch for the first timers. But to those who have seen Maheshinte Prathikaaram, this just feels terrible. Priyadarshan is famous for doing remakes. I think only a very few his movies were original. But his talent was the ability to take the core story and blend it with another culture. But he fails this time. It's evident that Priyadarshan didn't care about this movie at all from the casting itself. The story is really simple. It was the actors who made Maheshinte Prathikaram a success. Let's have a look at who replaced who. Udayanidhi Stalin replaced Fahad Faasil. Seriously, Priyadarshan? You had to cast a mediocre actor for a role which was played by one of the finest in India. Parvathy Nair(LOL) for Anusree. Namitha Pramod for Aparna Balamurali. Aparna was excellent in the original. And he casted comedy actors so that he can incorporate some comedy into the movie. But one thing he forgot was the humor in the movie was situational and nothing else. There were some nice shots but, the camera work is really bad. The highlights in the background were blown out in many scenes. And camera doesn't focus on the faces of the actors. You can't connect with the characters because you don't get to see what they feel in their face. Few of the best scenes from the original are either missing or executed terribly. The scene in which Mahesh smiles at Soumya at her wedding, Mahesh asking Soumya "You got rid of me so nicely", The scene in which Mahesh takes a beautiful picture of Jimsy. Those scenes were so realistic and it was really bad in the remake.

Basically, I recommend you watch the original with subtitles. Don't expect a mass entertainer. Maheshinte Prathikaaram is a raw and realistic masterpiece from Dileesh Pothan.

Watchable with peace of mind
parameswaranrajendran22 February 2018
Veteran actor/director J.Mahendran & Udhaynidhi Stalin neatly done their part as a father & son respectively. Most of the shots in this film are purely beautiful and we can see those shots during dawn/dusk (blue sky after sunset). Newcomer actress Namitha Pramod is very bubbly and soon gonna be crush to Tamil film fans if she continuously act in Tamil movies. Actor Samuthirakani only did a small portion in this film. A watchable movie if you have open mind without expect anything from commercial form.

Nimir (2018)

Not so good movie.. The story line was so simple and the movie was very slow. Songs and BGM in the movie were good. Udhayanidhi Stalin did not act that much but MS Bhakar, Karunakaran and others acting was good. The movie was very slow from the beginning to end because there is no much story. The comedy scenes in the movie was so good.
