The Hood & the Rise of Vigilantism
ThomasDrufke5 February 2019
Right off the bat this episode really threw me off. Opening with the Warner Bros Pictures logo/music, which is not something the show has ever done, was a weird move but it all made sense after it was revealed that the entire episode was being filmed by a documentary crew. I've seen this show make bold choices in the past, but this may be its boldest yet, and definitely strangest.

Luckily, it actually worked to its benefit. Being that it was the 150th episode, it was a nice excuse to bring back familiar faces like Willa Holland, Paul Blackthorne, Caity Lotz, and even Grant Gustin. The documentary style also gave a new breath of fresh air to a few action scenes, as the camera watches Green Arrow & company fight through criminals from a distance. I thought for sure all this footage would be the reason Team Arrow would be exonerated after getting arrested (with commonfolk petitioning for their release after seeing the doc).

Alas, that wasn't the route they went, and it proved to be beneficial. Instead, each member of Team Arrow will now work alongside Ollie on the police force to fight crime. An interesting decision, but I think it's the right one. Watching this episode made me realize how much better this show is when they keep the core team together and not on completely separate arcs. It does make me wonder how it will all play out with some of those arcs still being left in the air i.e. Diggle with Argus.

I won't say the villain this week did much for me, but that fight sequence with him sure did. He had the potential to be more than a throwaway villain, but he wasn't the focus tonight, and I was okay with that. How exactly this season is shaping up? I have absolutely no idea. But I'm sure as hell excited to see a new Arrow cave.

150th episode and still going strong
Holt3445 February 2019
Having bunch of characters from past seasons returning in cameos (interviews) was great to see, the documentary that is the primary focus of the episode feels like it's something that should exist in its universe. The other plot point being a new villain that wants vigilantes dead and it works, nothing special or unique with him though. The action Sequences are as always great and mixing the documentary style with the fight scenes made it unique.

Seeing Team Arrow back in action was nice but felt out of place, but seeing the ending sequence got me excited for the return of the team. Now we are a couple of episodes into post prison and back then I didn't know what they would do next but I'm loving the new storyline.

Brilliant Episode & Concept

Warning: Spoilers
This episode starting off the way it did sure surprised me especially using the WB logo - had me thinking I had accidentally clicked the wrong button on Netflix but the way it was a documentary and then filmed in present time was creative and well done and helped to further the storyline and seeing old favourites and also THE FLASH!!!! in there was just amazing. His scene was adorable. Amazing episode

150th Episode!!!
charles-simeth5 February 2019
It was nice to see some of the old cast again. The first few minutes have been very nice. Documentary and "Arrow style" mixed together. It was a welcome fresh way to tell this weeks story. I personally liked the special usage of camera during this episode, when they switched to "normal story mode". It felt very dynamic to me. All scenes felt so alive and not as "wooden" during normal episodes. I hope they do more shoots like those in future episodes. But the documentary camera was great, too.

From an artist point of view the best episode of any TV Show in years. I hope the people in charge get any kind of award for that. The story of this weeks episode is nicely told, the mix between Episode and Documentary is helping a lot.

Well done Team Arrow and Happy Birthday. This was a nice Birthday gift to the fans.

Finally team arrow is reunited.
musiclover-113845 February 2019
Amazing episode and great direction. The combo of regular show/documentary (maybe even mocumentary lol), and crossover was brilliantly done. With the arrow verse getting so complicated now, this episode could almost be a stand alone episode for new fans.

This season shouldn't get a cool down at any point
paulchristechgod5 February 2019
With the I'll kill you all mystery solved, another mystery follows which is even bigger. The documentary format of this episode was very nice. Bringing all the characters from before was a good idea.At some point I thought adding Dinah Drake as a character in this show was a big mistake but I have come to notice lt wasnt. The flashforward ending was amazing and gave a lot to look forward to,a 'War on Vigilantes. If the network could order a ten season run for this show,it would be very neccesary. As this season progresses it gets hotter.Absolutely love the effort the crew and camera are putting on this season.

The BEST Episode of Arrow
Shane_Reuter29 December 2023
I will forever be confident in my opinion that this is the best episode of the show.

Not only does this episode completely flip the script, making it entirely set as an in-universe documentary about Oliver Queen and The Green Arrow, and how they do their day to day activities, but because this episode has the most impressive cinematography in the Arrowverse, which is only rivaled by Enter Flashtime. Also, it has an absolutely phenomenal one-shot fight sequence with beautiful fight choreography. It's nothing short of a perfect episode, and a 10/10 filler episode for any TV show to date.

If someone could only watch one episode of Arrow, i'd tell them to watch this one.

The documentary style didn't really work for me to be honest. The fights were good and that one scene with Oliver and Diggle, but it all just felt forced and pointless.

What the ????
marknorville5 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I for one hate this episode, it just does not make any sense at all. A documentary following the green arrow, and they are allowed into argus.

Is argus not supposed to be a top secret organisation? Yet they let in a film crew? One character mentioning top secret satellites and then taking back what he said.

The whole episode makes no sense at all, and I am finding it hard to get through this episode, I am literally pausing and doing something more interesting to fight the boardem.

I cannot see how other people have rated this so highly. they must be super nerds.

What a waste of time
twiggy4always20 February 2019
This 'documentary style' episode was such a contrived and annoying idea for the 150th episode. All the indie filmmaker camera framing and and annoying shake made me nauseous. Way to take a high production show and make it look like crap.

So the writers just have up polishing this...
rrberthelot21 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
There are some great examples of shows that have changed format for an episode, usually to a faux documentary style, X-cops the being a clear example. The Zeppo from Buffy is another great example thats partially responsible for Blink from Doctor Who. Format changes can be amazing. But the storytellers at Arrow, as usual, refused to commit. They refused to challenge themselves, at all, to deliver a unique episode. Mutch has been made about the documentary crew being allowed access to a top secret facility, and that is odd, especially when the writers threw out the documentary pretense as soon as it was inconvenient. So why bother having them in Argus? Honestly the self calibrating, "yay it's our 150th episode," cameo filled documentary segments seemed straight out of the worst kind of format change- the 80's flashback episode. But at least 80's sitcoms had likeable characters. Still, I can honestly say this show hasn't jumped the shark; it fell right in to the shark tank.

I don't understand the good reviews..
HassantakeR5 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The episode was boring and I wanted them to focus on the events instead of documentary. I hated Barry Allen's cameo because he is not a friend of Oliver Queen in the eyes of the public.

They could have done it better but they had to ruin it. There were many unnecessary returns as well. This season started strong but I don't know what happened after episode 8.

William is an unreasonable jerk and I wish he were never put on the show. And the "documentary" is dumb. Stupid episode.

Repetitive episode structure.
cruise0110 August 2019
Episode 6.12 (2 out of 5 stars).

Another boring useless episode in the series. The episode does have a documentary first half feel with the direction as a camera crew is following Oliver around documenting about his lifestyle. It can be a bit annoying feeling like a distraction from the main plot. Or an episode filler.
