If that is a crime, I will gladly accept judgement.

A well acted legal drama dealing with a special team of prosecutors investigating crimes against women. It deals with individual cases but also has a backstory running right through it of a corrupt cop who is now the City mayor. The Mayor has links to the disappearance of the female leads mother, and also other members of the team. I think it failed to develop the stories or characters and the series seemed stilted with storylines building nicely but coming to an abrupt end. Enjoyable enough but I think it could have been much better.

Good drama but
kiraonthefence29 October 2022
MC lost me when she outs the victim against his will (ep2 - which meant I had to endure 14+ hours of watching a main character I couldn't stand). She might have gotten better later but there are some hard lines for me and forcing someone out of the closet, especially in a country where it's so widely ostracized, is one of them, unfortunately.

Plot wise it's a decent show, and acting is pretty great, and admittedly MC does get character development but... Couldn't quite get past how horrible she is in the beginning so. And it was definitely nice to see so many controversial topics being dealt with, something I don't see in korean entertainment in general, so that was quite refreshing.

An alright legal drama
madbird-612437 April 2019
Almost no romance scene. The drama is attracting watchers by each of its legal case. Each is intricated and enchanting. Female lead is unknown to me, but her acting is ok.

Hope to see her more in drama

It is not that memorable
lmerana21 October 2019
I have seen this series about a year ago. I don't want to watch it again because there's not much of a memorable scene. It has a good plot or theme though. But overall it was not enough for a rating higher than a 7.

Mindblowing Series and Amazing Actors!
ikahendrani14 December 2023
This is the second Korean drama series that is mindblowing and emotional for me, after Reply 1988. The kind of drama that make me feeling so related. Maybe because I'm a woman and the series captured the problems that we face in real life, like sexual harrasment, unfair treatment based on sex, inadequate legal system to protect women & children, etc. Bravo for all the writers, director and actors for raising that topics!

The standing ovation given for the main character Ma I-deum that was immature, difficult, complex and complicated. Throughout the series I saw the major character development of Ma I-deum that Jung Ryeo Won was capable to pull off.

Ep2 is disgraceful
chilligrrl8 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm watching this as I like courtroom dramas. Ep 1 was okay, but episode 2 was disgraceful as a poor guy was outed without permission and she floated about it and didn't feel bad.

That in itself makes me want to stop watching. However ep 3 is doing the whole "let's move the camera around constantly to evoke drama and conflict" trick they're using more often now and they've taken it to the max level; however it's making me so seasick that I can't continue watching. Why do they do this? You can't read the subtitles, you can't watch it, you either have to close your eyes and miss it all or switch it off.

This could have been good, but the writers were wrong to allow Ep2 with zero remorse and... I need a bucket.

Better than I expected
phillipjbrown20 September 2021
I enjoyed this. Acting from all the cast was excellent with the female lead managing to rnge from sassy to sympathetic. OK sme of her decisions were pretty dubious but she handled it well. The male lead was good and the main villain really scary.

The sub stories had good twists as did the main plot. The last four episodes especially were like watching a good chess game. Liked the music and the very low key romance.

Not sure of re watchability but the acting will stay in my mind.

Have watched over 200 dramas - think this is seriously underrated
leahcubed27 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
9.5/10 is my rating. This is a 2017 South Korean Legal Romance Drama with 16, 60 minute episodes. It is alternatively known as Witch in Court.

Ma Yi-deum (Jung Ryeo-won) is an aggressive and egotistical prosecutor who has worked in multiple prosecutors' offices and is known for using whatever it takes to win. It is a challenging time for females in a man's world and she reluctantly supports a female reporter who was sexually assaulted by her boss. When Yi-deum finds out the boss lied about promoting her she feels she has nothing to lose and and tells all about what she saw him trying to do with the female journalist. This gets her an assignment in the special task force for text crimes, a job no one wants. Well no-one that is except for Yeo Jin-wook (Yoon Hyun-min) who feels passionate about defending victims of sex crimes. Although a new prosecutor he not only graduated top of his class but also has a background in psychology. The two opposites team up to use their complimentary skills to solve some tough cases. As they work together they begin to understand each other and admire each other more. Will the hate that turned to like now turn to love?

I loved this drama. It had everything, exciting cases, interesting and deep character growth and interactions. Yi-deum was edgy and had a mischievous quality about her but was very bright and cared deeply about justice. Jin-wook is the quintessential straight arrow who wants nothing more than to do the right thing the right way. Which is why the conflict he encounters around the situation with his mother is such a dilemma for his character. Spoiler alert** it was during the very last portion of the last episode when Yi-deum and Jin-wook got together in a romantic sense. I was so enjoying their interplay as a couple I regretted there was not just a bit more time spent with them as a couple. It was a very happy and overall well wrapped ending but the only very minor critique was just not getting enough of the Yi-deum and Jin-wook romance. But it is such a well written and enjoyable drama that is not a huge fail. I would watch this again and would highly recommend it to fans of this genre, of these actors, or just anyone that wants a well written, nicely paced, exciting, legal romantic drama.

Just Ok Forgettable Procedural
fake_moviestar1 February 2021
For those that like legal procedural drama's like "Law and Order" or "Chicago P.D." I think this show is very much in that same vein. The beginning of the show is mostly procedural, with a main plot line taking shape around the halfway mark.

Right off the bat I didn't like Ma Yi-Deum. I get it, she is the type to do whatever it takes to get the bad guys in jail. But it was in extremely poor taste that she revealed the sexuality of the victim in the first episode. It really put a bad taste in my mouth. Her attitude was sometimes refreshing and different, but overall I found her unlikable. Jin-Wook wasn't really memorable either, even though Hyun-Min (the actor who plays him) is a very good actor, this character was forgettable.

The main plot line was okay, but I grew increasingly frustrated with the tone and lack of progress, so I ended up fast forwarding through most of the episodes. The show had this weird "slap-stick" quality to it, with the music and certain "comedy" scenes, and there were some really fake fight scenes as well.

Overall, this is a throwaway watch for those who have nothing else to watch, or for those that like procedural dramas that aren't too complicated to follow. It definitely was not my cup of tea.

The main actress is not good for this role
mariagh2 October 2021
The main female character lacks so much expression. Even in emotional scenes, she doesn't seem bothered by the specific scene. She says the lines and cries the tears but it's just not looking veritable. It's all cold and dry. Dramatic scenes about her own life are like nothing, she bounces back so awkwardly easy for a character that has been through such a huge traumatic experience.
