This is a case of so bad it's funny, it's issues are so very obvious that joking together about them becomes a bonding experience.
The CGI is archaic and make the characters silly even in serious scenes.
The story was either predictable or disjointed often both, to the point you basically yell at the characters to use their brains.
The voice acting at least in the English version had horrible lipsinc and dumb lines, the princess also sounded like she was trying to be snow white but instead was just annoying.
And they were just lazy with the queen, they didn't even try to explain that
All in all a horrible movie, the dragon tried his best though, sometimes dragons just can't save something.

Grown man here, no kids. The cover art looked promising so I gave this a shot on Tubi. Is this Russia's idea of a Disney movie? Ouch. The princess character was annoying, and the story took a while to hook me, but once the princess meets the dragon my enjoyment of this movie increased - or should I say, began. This particular character is endearing. The kid in me was riveted to the screen when this young dragon or his uncle were on it. The plot really doesn't make sense. The bad guy was an annoying loser. The story would have resolved itself in time without anyone's action. The worst part? The awful songs! Three different men in the Kingdom have their own song and they are all embarrassingly horrendous to endure. I'm glad I watched this alone. But I'm still glad I watched it.

The Princess and the Dragon is a Russian animation, so, it's kind of difficult to write review and also kind of different from American animations.
Compared to some animations made by American animation companies, like Disney and DreamWorks, this animation is way behind them. I don't know about the original animation, what I watched is in English, so, I only write on what I saw.
First of all the story itself is so simple, there isn't anything new. It's all what we all saw all the time. And dialogues are a bit weird. Because of those dialogues, the animation quality becomes quite low.
Second, the voice artists for English version are terrible. The voice actors for the Dragon and the others are still doing okay. But the voice artists for the main character the princess and the queen are the worst. How they talk is not natural. I can feel that they are acting. And their voices are a little sharp and appears to be deliberately made and so, it's difficult to listen. In the other word, it's so bad.
The animation is also not that much good. The way those characters speak is not natural and the way the mouth moves is very different from the words they speak. I know that most animators do it in common way. But it shouldn't be that much different.
What made me so annoyed was the songs. The lyrics are so bad. It's like they want to add songs everywhere in the film. But they don't know their songs are so terrible. At some point, I really wanted to stop watching because of those horrible songs.
Finally, the story. When the queen returns, the princess asks her mother that where she has been in all those years. The queen says she will explain one day and the story ends. The audience doesn't get to know where she's been for many years. If there's another one, it's okay. But if there's not, I'd say they should've explained it.
Overall, the film is not that good. The same-old story, inferior animation, weird dialogues, bad voice actings (and so on) make the animation fall behind. So, I don't really recommend this one to watch. If you want to watch it, watch it with your own risks.

Bad voice acting, not much character development, stupid plot, bad CGI animation and plot holes.
Bad voice acting: the way Barbra talks is strange. She doesn't use the accents properly.
No character development: the jester and the counselor have no real motives and the king is horrible at his job both as a king and as a father.
Plot: the whole plot hangs on the fact that the queen is missing. The plot hole is the book: we are given no details as to where it came from, what it does, etc.
Animation: some of the characters are given huge heads and it's very distracting. I can't really explain why the animation is so bad.
Free to watch & still wasted my money!!!

My 2yr old wanted to watch this on Virgin and she got fed up after 16 minutes.
The speech doesn't fit with the mouth movements, the dialogue of the Princess is so bad that it almost sounds computer generated.
Songs are not great either.
It seems they've also tried to make the Princess & the King look like they're respective characters from a famous Disney film that also involves a certain happy snowman?!
Just a poor poor film and I have to question the authenticity of the review giving it 10/10 as giving it a 1 is being generous

Although the storyline is good for the kids, beware of the voices, that of the Princess especially, trust me if watching with your kids and grandkids her voice over and laugh will have you reaching for the remote or a vodka.....

The last reviewer said how awful this movie was - it ISN'T. I watched it and it's a lovely kid's movie - apart from the songs. Which are awful, in all the wrong places and totally kill the film. I'd love to get a copy, go through it and cut all the songs out - you wouldn't miss them, they're not doing a THING to make the film work better - and what you had left would be a lovely, little-kids movie.
The animation's good. The plot's got just enough scary bits in for little kids, it's well balanced. I liked all the characters and they'd kept the story simple for little kids. It's got a lot going for it - it's just the songs suck!
I'd give it about 6 or 7 out of ten with no songs, unfortunately 4 out of ten WITH the songs! Having SAID that, I think the kids would just ignore them to get back to the story.

It was marked as 6+. I wonder if any kid older than 6 can watch this without getting bored. Songs were bad, story line was a huge mess, or lets say no story line at all. All kids at the cinema got incredibly bored and they started to disturb each other (I think that this says something). There were no funny moments, worst animated movie I have seen so far.

Wow, horrifically bad. Awful voice acting, random songs and the story line was just non existent. We were hoping the ending would reveal the plot but instead the big reveal was "I will tell you when you're older". Utterly pointless film and deserves less than 1 stars.

What a terrible cartoon, really bad animation, no story, characters soooo wooden, just bad from start to finish. Even my daughter couldn't watch it. I think this Russian animation studio should go back to making vodka and leave making movies to someone who knows what they are doing. BTW, all their animations are the same, bad!

The story line is dull.
The princess' character comes across very annoying and she acts like a spoilt brat.
You don't find out what happens to the mother, it's all just very shortly cut it seems and rushed towards the end.
Worst kids movie I have ever watched.
