The series was partly inspired by Jack Dee's own real-life experiences of a move from the city to the countryside that did not work out for him and his wife. Though, unlike Steve and Nicky, Dee had kept his house in London as well as buying a cottage in the countryside.
On Tuesday, 5th February 2019, ITV's Head of Television Kevin Lygo revealed to the Daily Mirror newspaper that sitcoms Birds of a Feather and Bad Move would not be returning. The UK's largest commercial broadcaster now has no sitcoms being broadcast on its main channel for the first time in its 64 year history.
The character of Grizzo, played by comedian Seann Walsh, is based upon Blur musician-turned-farmer-turned-award-winning-cheese-maker Alex James whose move to the countryside has spawned multiple new careers and has certainly not been a disaster.
