Prematured charectors with an unborn script
midhunpar13 May 2019
A flawed script is my suspect for its non-victory.

I usually like hiking movies because of the variety in charectors and the scenery of the trails. This movie definitely not delivered the later one for sure. But, I was able to pick two main good charectors, but the film didn't evolve those charectors much. One good script could easily make it interesting with philosophies that can be assigned with the charecters. To me, the two main characters were interesting in the way they presented their philosophies, but it's sad that they couldn't get to evolve.

not much happens if one does not mind tagging along with a couple of hikers

(2018) Maine DRAMA

Written and directed by Mathew Brown that showcases three people at a hiking trip through Maine, only on the following morning one of them leaves. Leaving just Bluebird (Laia Costa) and Lake (Thomas Mann) to hike by themselves, stumbling onto a a rest stop with a cabin meeting other hikers before they go their merry way! And we learn more about the both of them as the movie is progressing such as Bluebird is originally Spanish and that she may have been married her hiking partner, Lake already knows about.

Some of the interesting things shown on this film are the ritual of the hike itself, that involves the hikers themselves using nicknames or hiking names that is not their own. Just like the two central characters of Bluebird and Lake are not their original names something they call each other as well as other hikers. The few other hikers they have met along the way they have met Hex, Dragon and Flop and then met a young lady name Eliza. Before they meet Cheese and Hermes, and then somewhere along the way, it just was not interesting anymore.

I'm giving this a 2 mainly for the nice countryside scenery

Warning: Spoilers
This would have been FAR more interesting had they called it "From Spain to Maine" and had her swimming across the ocean for the entire movie.

As it is, it's about an annoying young woman hiking through Maine and that's really about it. I kept wondering while watching it, how little it must have cost to make it. In this Youtube generation, pretty much anyone can afford to make something people can watch. However, judging from this film that is also the downside to it all.

Complete waste of time.

I've seen better acting and heard more interesting dialogue in elementary school productions.

I had hopes for it...

I have always been fascinated by the thur hiking on the Appellation trail. I was hoping for some "Into The Wild" Chris McCanddless style scenes. Time I will never get back wasted...

Boring
pgaida13 February 2019
This was 86 minutes of my life I can't get back. The only reason I gave it a 1 rating was the song about the sound of you walking away. Great song, not so great movie.

Beautiful film
ScoobySnacks6618 May 2019
I really enjoyed this film featuring Laia Costa, who is arguably one of the most talented female actors working today. It's a raw and real look at a man and woman who serendipitously come together while hiking the Appalachian trail. Laia plays Bluebird, a tormented woman looking to reclaim her identity while becoming emotionally connected to Lake, played by Thomas Mann, while hiking alone in the Appalachian wilderness. As chemistry develops, Bluebird works through her demons while Lake pursues her with real and honest feelings of love. Ultimately it becomes a voyeuristic exercise for viewers to experience emotional intimacy on a trail hike with an incredibly beautiful and complex woman.

Fantastic Movie
jjl_111117 March 2019
What a fantastic independent movie. It's a dialogue-based movie that really hits you in the heart. The acting was excellent and this movie made me relate to the dynamics of brief relationships that often come and go. These bad reviews are hard to read. Not every movie needs to be about a pointless superhero with magical powers.

Enjoyable Movie
jcparker-8631827 April 2020
Laia Costa is a joy to watch in this movie. You should set your expectations before watching though. Although the setting is the Appalachian Trail, this isn't a movie about hiking the Appalachian Trail. Rather, it is a dialog driven character study of "Bluebird" and "Lake" as the encounter each other on the trail. As their relationship develops and grows more complicated, you find yourself rooting for one or the other.

Pretty realistic

I think it describes quite well the contradictory behavior some women have when they are wounded inside.

Immature troubled woman on a hike plays with a lonely slacker of a young man.
rjfromtoronto27 November 2022
She's cute and pretty, that's what gets the positive reviews for the most part, pretty lost girl in need of saving syndrome, because other than her looks she is pretty annoying with the hot/cold thing she has going with the beta male that just keeps hoping and wishing she will notice his good heart and intentions and pick him. She's the wife of an engineer, which by proxy would assume is a straight forward methodical type of husband, financially stable more than likely and not childlike or wishy washy like the trail companion she can't seem to push off. Her and her hiking companion seem immature and reminded me of grade 8 relationships, passive aggressive silly conversations, childish play instead of romance, the fact that she never discloses what she did for a living but looks down on him is frustrating, kinda like real life I suppose, do nothing and expect everything or I will walk off into the morning sun and find another to satisfy my frivolous follies and carnal needs, the fact that he liked her and she was somewhat interested in him and won't be intimate beyond a kiss or two with him but hooks up with slacker greasy guy who actually has no passion and lives in a motel says it all. "Youth is wasted on the wrong people" as was said by porch guy in "It's a Wonderful Life" (1945) I'll take a Mary in a Hydrangea bush over a Bluebird on a trail any day. So other than seeing a 33 yr old woman with a nice butt, cute smile and nice hair, it's a pass mostly.
